Vladimír Wsól, Ph.D Title of diploma thesis: Role of Systemic Inflammation in Parkinson's Disease. Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common ageing-related neurodegenerative disorder after Alzheimer's disease and the prevalence in population is increasing. The characteristic movement disorder is caused by selective dopaminergic neurons loss, while the mechanism of this neurodegeneration is not well understood. Increasing evidence points out the key role of vicious cycle of microglial overactivation and oxidative stress, while the questions "where it begins" and "how to stop it" remain without clear answers. This thesis investigates implication of peripheral inflammation as a deteriorating circumstance and possible inductor of brain inflammation and progressive dopaminergic neurodegeneration. We use mice model of Parkinson's disease employing single intraperitoneal injection of toxin N-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6- tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) that induces specific degeneration of DA neurons and in contrast to other animal...
Legal position of municipalities in disposing of management of immovable things
Veselá, Karolína ; Svoboda, Petr (advisor) ; Staša, Josef (referee)
The purpose of the thesis is to outline the fundamental aspects of local government of municipalities and their economic management, in particular, in terms of the applicable Act No. 128/200 Coll. on municipalities (municipality establishment), and to define the most critical institutes, legal status and competences of municipalities applicable to management and disposal of real estate property and discuss them in a wider context. Real estate property is a significant property item for municipalities, constituting the territorial element thereof. Management of such property falls within the local authority of the municipalities, which the state does not intervene in. It is an autonomous area of performance of the local governments that is guaranteed by the Constitution. The thesis is split into four sections. Section one is general; the purpose thereof is to characterise the municipality and define its status within the legal order of the Czech Republic. Section two deals with the territorial element of the municipalities, through which I establish a link to the real estate property constituting a part of the municipality's assets. In that connection, there is a point attached to explain the post-revolutionary property-law development of municipalities, or their property renaissance, thanks to...
Genocide, Holocaust and Law
Veselá, Karolína ; Kosek, Jan (advisor) ; Agha, Petr (referee)
Genocide, Holocaust and Law The topic of my thesis is Genocide, Holocaust and Law. The purpose of work is to reflect on the power of law surrounding mass murder. More specifically, it reflects on whether it is possible to use the law to carry out genocide or whether there is no connection. The main emphasis is placed on the genocide of the Jews (the Holocaust) and Nazi Law (both natural and positive). The thesis is divided into three main chapters which correspond to the title itself. The first chapter deals with genocide. It is divided into two main parts. First, genocide is generally described as an international crime, as the definition itself has been developed and a more detailed analysis of the general term genocide. The second part presents historical examples of genocides that preceded the Holocaust and their simple comparison with the Holocaust. More precisely, these are the Armenian Genocide, the Tasmanian Genocide, and the genocides perpetrated by the Mongol Empire. The second chapter deals with the Holocaust in the broader sense of the term - the period from 1933-1945. It is divided into seven subchapters. First, the difference between the Holocaust and other genocides is described in more detail, and the classification of the Holocaust as an industrial genocide is explained. The...
The bachelor's thesis is divided in two major parts. Its core is a Czech translation of two selected chapters of the book Le Guide des Jumeaux: de la conception à l'adolescence (un guide pour les parents) by Régine Billot. The second part is constituted by the commentary of the translation composed mainly of the analysis of the source text according to the Christiane Nord's model, the typology of translation problems as well as their solutions. The practical part entails an adequate conversion of the selected chapters with emphasis on comprehensibility for Czech readers. The theoretical part deals with translation methods and shifts used in the translation process.
