Gender Stereotypes in Gaming Environment
Papusha, Valentyn ; Šedrlová, Magdalena (oponent) ; Sedláček, Pavel (vedoucí práce)
This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of gender stereotypes in the storyline and design of video games. Having been essential for the understanding of the video game industry and the presence of gender stereotypes in it, there are also listed key historical moments. It gives an opportunity to see how real-world events and public opinion influence video games, and produce or reduce gender stereotypes in them. The thesis offers an insight into the matter of over-sexualisation of both men and women, including how it may affect a self-perception of various people. The issue of sexualisation is considered from several perspectives, among which there is a cultural difference between East and West countries. Moreover, a list of stereotypical gender roles into which people are often put is presented in this paper. It brings light onto the consequences that emerge from the roles.
Life management of power oil transformer
Čechová, Karolína ; Froehling, Kenneth (oponent) ; Sedláček, Pavel (vedoucí práce)
To understand the significance of the life management process concerning power oil transformers, at first, it is essential to realise their role in the electrical grid. They are primarily used to interface step up and step down voltages in the transmission and distribution system according to the contemporary needs. The unreliability of power oil transformers can disrupt the stability of the electric power supply, which represents significant economic and technical losses for companies that manage this type of equipment. Therefore, I decided to write a thesis that provides an overview about the life management process by describing its economic benefits along with technical diagnostics, which help to identify incipient defects at their early stages that may arise during the operation of power oil transformers. The main aim of this thesis is to describe and prove the importance of the life management process itself and the need to analyse transformer parameters by diagnostic methods to detect possible defects. The practical part of the thesis focuses on proposing the most suitable diagnostic methods for measuring the selected parameters of the chosen power oil transformer. The selected parameters are then analysed, and the overall condition of the chosen power oil transformer is estimated.
Use of GPS in the Car Industry Oriented on Self-driving Vehicles
Gróf, Marko ; Sedláček, Pavel (oponent) ; Šedrlová, Magdalena (vedoucí práce)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the use of GPS in the automotive industry with a focus on unmanned vehicles. The aim was mainly to approach the GPS system but also other temporary systems, and to describe and characterize autonomous vehicles and all the hardware and software they use. The first half of the work characterizes the GPS in great detail so that the reader gets to know how the navigation system works. In the second part of this work, the reader will learn about autonomous vehicles, to which levels we divide them and which systems are used. Reader will also learn the advantages and disadvantages of these vehicles, the main differences between today's cars and autonomous cars. At the end of this work is intelligent transport and its benefits, but also a insight into the future of transport and vehicles.
The use of robotic Rovers to explore Mars
Pekař, Štěpán ; Sedláček, Pavel (oponent) ; Froehling, Kenneth (vedoucí práce)
This Bachelor´s thesis focuses on three space missions: Mars Pathfinder, Mars Exploration Rover, and Mars Science Laboratory. The main part of these three missions are four rovers (Sojourner, Spirit, Opportunity, and Curiosity) that have been sent to the surface of the Red Planet. The thesis is focused especially on the scientific tools of the individual rovers, the technology used and on the most important scientific knowledge gained during the missions on Mars.

Influence of social networks on communication and culture
Havlíček, Lukáš ; Krhutová, Milena (oponent) ; Sedláček, Pavel (vedoucí práce)
My bachelor thesis is focused on issues with social networking services and their influence on modern society. It addresses their history from the very first attempts to create a social networking service to the modern global ones. Later the thesis provides an explanation of the creation of a social networking service and its characteristic traits. Furthermore it outlines problems connected with the availability and overuse of social networking services that are subsequently influencing the human society. The thesis also analyzes the influence of social networks on language, interpersonal communication and cultural adaptation.
Science Fiction and the Prediction of Technology, Past and Present
Skorobogatova, Margarita ; Sedláček, Pavel (oponent) ; Froehling, Kenneth (vedoucí práce)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine if science fiction can predict future technologies. The first chapter introduces science fiction writers of the 19th and 20th centuries, who predicted a variety of technological inventions, that can be found in the present. The second chapter deals with science fiction cinematography, outlined and supported by examples taken from science fiction films and television series. The last chapter is based on diverse technological inventions of the present, which are described and demonstrated by the directors of science fiction movies and which are considered as the most likely examples that can be implemented in the near future. The conclusion describes the outcomes of the conducted studies and defines possible development in the future.
Communications Technology and the New Horizons Mission to Pluto
Yarkina, Daria ; Sedláček, Pavel (oponent) ; Froehling, Kenneth (vedoucí práce)
The aim of this work is to show what communications technology is used in the New Horizons mission to Pluto, provide a brief description of mission’s objectives and emphasize the ability to transmit signals over long distances. This work also deals with the description and the importance of scientific equipment in the spacecraft, followed by information about data transmission and the navigation system of the planetary probe. The relevance and effectiveness of using the Ka frequency band and more modern technologies are also mentioned.
Current trends in the airline industry
Štourač, Filip ; Sedláček, Pavel (oponent) ; Rujbrová, Šárka (vedoucí práce)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to describe current technological trends in the airline industry and outline the expected future development in the aviation sector. The introduction starts with brief overview of aviation history followed by short depiction of a modern age aircraft. The next chapter deals with green technology and sustainability of aviation with focus on 3D printing, alternative jet fuel and two types of modern engines- Leap engine by CFM and geared turbofan by Pratt&Whitney. Third chapter about safety technology covers Ground Proximity Warning System, runway sensors and automation with focus on Fly-by-wire control system. The following chapter focuses on current changes in maintenance technology regarding the growth of Internet of Things. In the last chapter, the reader is introduced to the expected future development of aviation.
Interaction design with regards to the end user
Macura, David ; Walek, Agata (oponent) ; Sedláček, Pavel (vedoucí práce)
This thesis focuses on user interfaces, methods connected with their design and the interaction between humans and computers. The goal is to codify and explore the most important of these methods and their influence on final products. Another goal is to describe the theoretical side of design and the approach of designers and users to design and interaction. In the part focused on the user interfaces the thesis sets the goal to research and compare select approaches to interface creation and to list the most important influences on demands concerning the application interface design.
