"eBooks on Demand" Service in the Czech Republic

This Bachelor thesis introduces European cooperative project Elektronické knihy na objednávku - Evropská knihovní síť (eBooks on Demand - A European Library Network, EOD) and homonymous service which aims to digitize rare books on customer's demand. customer's demand. The first part of thesis describes the project in generally way regarding its history, describing goals, key activities, and technological workflow of EOD service. Furthermore the thesis focuses on describing current situation of EOD service in the Czech Republic. The last part presents the promotional tools of EOD service and their possible new opportunities.

Digital libraries of commercial publishers

Jana Kvašová 2011 Digital libraries of commercial publishers Abstract (in English): The aim of the thesis is to analyze and compare the current state of selected digital libraries of the most significant commercial publishers of scientific literature (SpringerLink, Wiley Online Library, ScienceDirect). The first chapter describes digital libraries in general and points out some of the specifics of digital libraries owned by commercial publishers. Basic terms like "digital library", "digital source", "digital document" are also explained in this chapter. The core of the thesis is represented by three analyses of selected digital libraries; Wiley Online Library (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/), SpringerLink ( http://www.springerlink.com/) and SciVerse ScienceDirect (http://www.sciencedirect.com/). The following chapter describes the connecting of digital libraries using the CrossRef service. The final chapter compares the main features of digital libraries and presents trends and possible future of this field. The Free Encyclopedia Wikipedia as an Information Resource, its Creation, Content and Services

The master thesis provides analysis and evaluation of the free encyclopedia Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.org/) as an information resource and the resulting opportunities and proposals for its usage with a focus on a subject field of information science and librarianship. The thesis focuses mainly on English language version of Wikipedia with significant overlaps in its Czech language version, too. -- The introductory part deals with an introduction to basic matters, terminology and historical introduction and the basic features and qualities of Wikipedia (its history, goals, principles, operator, software, funding, size and popularity), including detailed analysis of related fields (the license terms, responsibility for its content, privacy policy, users and their categorization and motivation). -- The core part of thesis provides a detailed and comprehensive analysis and evaluation of Wikipedia's content, its content-organization tools, quality-management tools, communication tools and its services. Global solution of information sytem for non-professional writers and poets - SPISLIT (information system common to non-professionals writers and poets)

Bakalářská práce "Projektový úkol informačního systému pro začínající literáty" podává návrh informačního systému zaměřeného na informační potřeby českých začínajících literátů - básníků, povídkářů, spisovatelů apod. V rámci analýzy stávajícího stavu systému je provedena analýza pracoviště provozovatele - "Oddělení podpory začínajících literátů" knihkupectví Monzun, s. r. o. - a analýza stávajících informačních systémů pro začínající literáty - českých literárních serverů, která odhaluje nejdůležitější nedostatky těchto serverů. Následuje návrhová část projektového úkolu skládající se z požadavků na cílové chování systému, organizačního, organizačně funkčního, technologického, technického, personálního, materiálního a ekonomického řešení systému, jejímž cílem je podat globální návrh informačního systému pro začínající literáty reflektujícího nedostatky stávajících obdobných informačních systémů (českých literárních serverů) a nedostatky pracoviště provozovatele zjištěné v analýze stávajícího stavu systému. Následuje závěr zabývající se - vzhledem k charakteru bakalářské práce (projektový úkol) - perspektivami realizace navrženého informačního systému. [Autorský abstrakt].
