Josef Váchal: The reflection of green thinking
Justová, Magdalena ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Češka, Jakub (referee)
This thesis discusses the work of Josef Váchal from a perspective of environmentalism and aims at identifying possible features of this ideology. These features emerge subsequently from environmentalism's initial definition. It focuses mainly on Váchal's work "Šumava umírající a romantická". First, the life, work and this artist's relation to nature is introduced, then the historical context and the circumstances of the work's origin. The main aim of this thesis is to analyse the piece "Šumava umírající a romantická" according to the above mentioned criteria based on the method of hermeneutic text analysis. Finally, the thesis assesses which features of environmentalism are present in the writing and discusses whether, based on the findings, Váchal can be identified as environmentalist.
Copmplex conception of health and sustainable developement
Krýslová, Simona ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Haškovcová, Helena (referee)
My diploma thesis deals with the topic of health and sustainable development. I am working with two topical Euro-American concepts, the socio-ecological model of health as promoted by the WHO (holistic concept of health) and the strategy of sustainable development as I acquainted myself with it during my studies at the School of Humanities of the Charles University. First of all, I analyse both concepts by means of expert sources. I emphasize their characteristic features, compare them and carry out a synthesis. On grounds of that I demonstrate three established hypotheses: 1. the holistic concept of health and the strategy of sustainable development with regard to their historical development are not only complementary but also mutually conditional concepts; 2. the holistic concept of health and the strategy of sustainable development have many common features; 3. the holistic concept of health is a natural and indispensable part of sustainable development. I began to be interested in interconnecting those topics in my diploma thesis in the moment I found out what both these interdisciplinary and systematic concepts have in common. At the same time, the interconnection was the most precarious part of my work. I did not expect to have any particular difficulties with separating individual features from...
Greens versus greens. Radical ecology - the comparative analysis of social ecology and deep ecology.
Novák, Arnošt ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Ortová, Jitka (referee)
The thesis presents comparative analyse of two streams of radical ecology - social and deep. This comparative study uses the hermeneutic method to select essential themes of the dispute between social and deep ecology. The essential themes are: the concept of nature, racioniality, the causes of ecological problems, the vision of environment as garden or wilderness, overpopulation and the ecological policy in action. The result of this comparative analyses is that synthesis of social and deep ecology isn't possible because of fundamental dissagreement. Despite this the discussion between both ecologies is needed. The social and deep ecology grow close by the critics of contemporary capitalistic and industrial society and awareness of necessary change.
Barriers of Development of Biomass Growing for Energy Purposes in the Czech Republic
Česenková, Lenka ; Brůhová - Foltýnová, Hana (advisor) ; Rynda, Ivan (referee)
The diploma thesis "Barriers of development of biomass growing for energy purposes in the Czech Republic" deals with an actual topic - renewable energy sources in the context of presently often discussed problem of climate change. The most perspective renewable energy source in the Czech Republic is biomass. It can be obtained from residues from agriculture, forestry and food processing industry (residual biomass) or it can be grown on purpose. Residual biomass cannot cover the current and future needs and fulfil the target of 8 % share of electricity production from renewables on gross consumption by 2010 set in the EU Accession treaty. Therefore it is necessary to support the development of biomass growing for energy purposes that has a significantly higher potential and is on the threshold of its development. The thesis analyses conditions of this development in the Czech Republic on the background of international context and aims for identifying its barriers.
Management: Developing a Small- and Mid-sized Bussiness Company Travel Plan
Valeška, Jan ; Brůhová - Foltýnová, Hana (advisor) ; Rynda, Ivan (referee)
Proceeding from a sociological and socially ecological perspective, this diploma thesis investigates the impacts of individual passenger car transport on human health, the quality of life, and the society as a whole. The gist of the thesis is an analysis of an instrument designed to reduce individual passenger car transport and based on non-infrastructural "soft" measures, known in foreign theoretical and practical literature as mobility management. The second focus of the thesis is placed on what are called travel/mobility plans of small and medium-sized business companies. Under scrutiny is the possibility of applying such travel plans in Prague, being analyzed on the example of a Prague-based business company and compared with foreign experience.

Dolejšková, Adéla ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Hušek, Jiří (referee)
This thesis is focused on relation between geocaching and sustainable development. It deals with this relation on basis of approach of geocachers to cache-making and on basis of state of caches in different areas. Approach of geocachers to cache-making tests by semi-structured interviews analyzed by Grounded theory and by internet data analysis. State of caches in different areas tests map data analysis. Outcome shows rather positive relation of geocaching and sustainable development. Strong points of the game are in positive influence on sustaining and shift of memory of places, increasing place atractivity and partly environmetal education. Study can be beneficial for instance for protected natural areas administration, public administration or administration of destination management of areas. Scientific benefit of this thesis lies in surveying this theme and creating basis for next research. Keywords: geocaching, sustainable development, sustainable tourism, destination management, environmental education. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The Sustainability of Programme LEADER+ and LEADER of the Czech Republic the Comparison with Local Agenda 21
Neckářová, Eva ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Třebický, Viktor (referee)
The target of this work is to find out the aspects of sustainability in LEADER program in the Czech Republic and common aspects with Local Agenda 21. I have used the methods of text analysis of the key documents concerning LEADER program. I have compared the documents with a set of principles of sustainable development, made according to several official sets. In the second part of the work, I have made a research among the representants of those LAGs which were supported in the LEADER program. I have sent them a questionaire with several questions created on the basis of a set of Criterias for local Agenda 21 in the Czech Republic. Finally I received 23 answers from 29 LAGs. It appeared that the program includes a lot of principles of sustainability. But also lot of principles are missing. The program dosen't monitor sustainability systematically and sustainability is not the condition of receiving the financial support either. Which is an important lack of a program proclaiming support of sustainable rural development. Udržitelnost v programu LEADER+ a LEADER ČR - porovnání s Místní Agendou 21 77 In the questionaire research the following facts were discovered. Lot of LAGs are implementing activities supporting sustainability and they provide local inhabitants with information about sustainability, too....

Rynda, Ivan ; Těšitel, Jan ; Kušová, Drahomíra ; Bartoš, Michael
The nuclear power plant of Temelín can be seen as an unusual landscape feature in rural landscape of South Bohemia influencing quality of life of local population. The project trees to reveal a process of adaptation of local community to the nuclear power plant. Based on data gained within sociological survey, local community seems to manifest some degree of adaptation to the given situation. In the context of landscape ecology, “visual aggressiveness” of plant’s cooling towers evokes the feeling of subconscious disquiet and is perceived as main change of south-bohemian landscape character.
