Preparation of perovskite solar cells with regular n-i-p architecture and their optimization
Poláková, Simona ; Zmeškal, Oldřich (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jan (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the study of perovskite solar cells with a regular n-i-p architecture. The theoretical part of this work is mainly focused on the stability of perovskite solar cells, i.e. thermal stability and the influence of UV radiation on final perovskite solar cell stability. Furthermore, the deposition methods, the architecture of solar cells and the materials used for the preparation of electron and hole transport layers were described in more detail. The experimental part deals with the optimization of the preparation of perovskite solar cells (especially in terms of resulting photovoltaic conversion efficiency), with a description of the structure preparation process of the final photovoltaic cell and the interpretation of the measured results.
Perovskite solar cells
Poláková, Simona ; Zmeškal, Oldřich (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jan (advisor)
The bachelor´s thesis deals with the study of perovskite solar cells. The theoretical part of this work is devoted to the stability of the perovskite layer and perovskite solar cells, especially chemical and thermal stability are discussed. Furthermore, deposition methods of perovskite active layer were described in more detail. The experimental part deals with the influence of the dropping of the diethyl ether solution during the deposition of the active layer (at different time intervals) on the final efficiency of solar energy conversion, with the preparation of the final perovskite solar cells and with the characterization of the basic electrical properties of the prepared structures.
New interconnections between lipid metabolism and chromatin regulation
Princová, Jarmila ; Převorovský, Martin (advisor) ; Bágeľová Poláková, Silvia (referee) ; Malínský, Jan (referee)
Lipid metabolism has been implicated in changes of chromatin modifications resulting in altered gene expression. Such regulation is important for cellular differentiation or cancer progression, however, the mechanism of how altered metabolic flux leads to targeted changes in chromatin modifications which then regulate gene transcription or heterochromatin maintenance is still poorly understood. We describe that fission yeast cells defective in fatty acid synthesis show increased expression of a subset of stress-response genes. This altered gene expression depends on the SAGA and NuA4 histone acetyltransferases and is associated with increased acetylation of histone H3 at lysine 9 in the corresponding gene promoters. Moreover, diminished fatty acid synthesis results in increased cellular resistance to oxidative stress. Additionally, the lipid metabolism mutants display chromatin alterations in centromeres and subtelomeres, regions of constitutive heterochromatin. We propose that changes in lipid metabolism can regulate histone acetylation and transcription of specific stress-response genes, but also lead to more global changes in heterochromatin. And while we clearly see the consequences of increased stress-response genes which result in promoting redox homeostasis, the implications of altered...

The effect of urbanization on life-history strategies in birds
Houšková, Karolína ; Sedláček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Poláková, Simona (referee)
Urbanisation process is recently a wide-spread process that causes high-impact environmental transformation. Habitats affected by urbanization tend to change substantially and ongoing changes influence organisms living in this environment. Urban environment modifies many abiotic conditions (e.g. temperature, artificial light and noise) and biotic factors (e.g. food supply, parasite prevalence, predation pressure) in comparison to natural habitats. In this manner, especially urban bird populations have recently gained broad attention by an increasing number of ecologists. Urban avoiders - typically sensitive and specialized bird species often vanish from urbanized landscapes. However, many bird species were able to colonize urban environment and coexist successfully with man. Populations of birds living in such a new type of environment show many characteristics different from populations living in original habitats. The objective of this work is to review current studies about changes of life strategies in urban bird populations such as modifications of acoustic signals, differences in reproductive and food ecology and physiological or behavioural responses.

The convergence of film and architecture. The case of Prague
Poláková, Sylva ; Hanáková, Petra (advisor) ; Petříček, Miroslav (referee) ; Pospiszyl, Tomáš (referee)
This dissertation examines the as yet untethered practice of the convergence of film and architecture in public municipal spaces against the backdrop of the idea of the relocation of the moving picture. Since this is an interdisciplinary practice whose forms and operations are influenced by a host of dynamics, the initial film perspective is supplemented by related themes from the spheres of architecture, public municipal space, and the organisation of culture and the applied arts, including advertising. The wide range of subjects covered in this dissertation is given focus by narrowly localised research examining the situation in Prague from the 1990s until 2010. Along with the case study, the chapters devoted to the discursive field form a progress report on the situation as regards this particular media practice, the outputs of which are subject to a short half-life that considerably limits the possibility of archiving them. The structure of the case study is derived from a specific classificatory framework and is close to the "catalogue" format, determined by a series of questions - who participated on the convergence of film and architecture and where, when and how. Though a specific segment of time was monitored, it did not remain free of links to previous working methods, historical situations and...
Caring for patients colonized with resistant microbial strains
Poláková, Stanislava ; Heczková, Jana (advisor) ; Novotná, Jindra (referee)
This thesis is focused on the complex nursing care of patients colonized with the resistant microbial strains. In the theoretical section I describe the major events of the history, the current issue of the antibiotic treatment and the species of occurring resistant strains of microbes. It also deals with recommended procedures in the care for these patients, such as patient isolation, use of the protective equipment, handling of the biological material , individualization of the aids, handling of the linen and the principles of health care. It also includes preventing the spread of disease resistant strains of the microorganisms and patient recolonization. The empirical part consists of the quantitative research conducted at the University Hospital in Pilsen with the help of a questionnaire survey. The questionnaires will be distributed to the nurses in intensive care units without the single - patient box system. The aim of the research is to determine nurses' knowledge of the disease resistant microbial strains and the ways they create patient isolation. Evaluation questionnaires will provide the pieces of information to compare the individual practices and knowledge of nurses in intensive care units. Results of this work can be used as a source of information or the study material. The benefit...
Nest predation risk in Grey Partridge (Perdix perdix)
Holomek, Stanislav ; Šálek, Miroslav (advisor) ; Poláková, Simona (referee)
The gray partridge (Perdix perdix) is a bird species living in hiding and nesting on the ground in the open landscape. Even though this species uses several well-known anti-predator adaptations and strategies, its nests are often predated. The range of nest predators and the circumstances of predation have not, however, been satisfactorily described yet. This diploma thesis summarizes the results of experiments carried out on artificial nests and is supplemented by the description of nest behaviour of two incubing hens obtained from video shooting their nests. This work also includes the results of video shoots of predators on artificial nests, the most common of them being the marten. The successful survival of nests in all experiments was influenced mainly by hiding the nest in vegetation. However, the presence of feather odour of adult birds increased the risks of predation even for well-hidden nests. Nests placed in grass biotopes survived the best regardless their covering. What mattered most in other biotopes (along the edges of field roads, forests or groves and field biotopes off any lines) was the covering of nests with vegetation. Partridges nesting close to the edge of a forest or a grove are not very safe from predators. The fact that both nesting partridges and nest predators prefer a...
