The Use of Elements of Fascial Manipulation in Patients with Low Back Pain
Kačerová, Veronika ; Táborská, Silvie (advisor) ; Novotná, Marie (referee)
Author: Veronika Kačerová Tutor: Mgr. Silvie Táborská Opponent: Title of bachelor thesis: The Use of Elements of Fascial Manipulation in Patients with Low Back Pain Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with an approach called Fascial Manipulation. Concretely, it is about the possibilities of using elements of this approach in patients with low back pain. Almost everybody somehow deals with low back pain in life. Fascial Manipulation could be the key in solving this problem. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into four sections. The first one is about the anatomy of lower back, the second one is about lumbalgia in general, the third one is about fascial system highliting the clinical point of view, the forth one is about Fascial Manipulation. The practical part involves case studies of two patients with low back pain (chronic and acute). The aim of this part is to find out the effects of a therapy based on elements of FM in patients with lumbalgia. Every therapy took aproximately 20-30 minutes and was held in a time period of 8 weeks. Key words: low back pain, Fascial Manipulation, fascia, lumbalgie, manual techniques
Concept of body in Old Norse literature
Novotná, Marie ; Komárek, Stanislav (advisor) ; Horáček, Ivan (referee) ; Starý, Jiří (referee)
This work attempts to outline concepts associated with body in the Old Norse literature. As the word for the body (líkamr) as well as the term for an incorporeal soul (sál) do not occur in the Old Norse literature until the translated Christian works and cannot therefore be used as markers, two areas closely connected with the concept of body have been chosen for the research: shifting of shape (hamr) and somatic expressions of emotions. In the first area, i.e. phenomena associated with shape-shifting, contexts of all (113) occurrences of radix ham- in the Old Norse literature are analysed in order to describe the semantical field of this root. Within the themes that have appeared in the material (i.e. shape-shifting related to flying, battle frenzy and magic), occurrences are ordered on an axis from those where the form (hamr) is considered to be holistic to those where just the form of body or soul is described. In this context, it is important to mention the proximity of man and animal in the Germanic environment, as shape-shifting is often related to an animal and thus points to the limits of human identity. In the second area, i.e. somatic expressions of emotions, we can also find cases where the mental and the physical area intersect and the boundaries between diseases and emotions are not...

BACHEROL THESIS ABSTRACT Author's first name and surname: Kateřina Krupičková Bacherol thesis supervizor: Ing. Eva Konopáčová Oponent: Title of bacherol thesis: Role of physiotherapy in psychosomatic disorders Yoga and its use in psychosomatics Abstract: This bachelor thesis covers the topic of psychosomatic medicine and the use of yoga in the treatment of psychosomatic diseases. This thesis is a combination of theoretical and research part. The theoretical part is divided into three sections. First one contains theoretical basis of psychosomatic medicine and the issue of psychosomatic diseases (definition, epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, diagnostics, therapy etc.). The second section outlines the role and possibilities of physiotherapy in psychosomatic medicine - an overview of physiotherapeutic methods that can be used in the treatment of psychosomatic diseases. The last section covers the topic of yoga, its history, different types and briefly describes techniques that yoga offers. The research part of this bachelor thesis contains one case report of a patient that has been diagnosed with a psychosomatic disease (chronic cervical spine pain). It also contains methodology of this work, its objectives, criteria for patient selection, review of the literature, initial examination and training units. The aim...
Implementation of industrial X-ray computed microtomography in developmental biology
