Religion and Humour: Comical Layers in Old Norse Religious Texts and Their Relationship to the Offical Religion

This paper focuses on the comic layers in Eddic mythological poetry, namely in Lokasenna, Hárbarðsljóð and Ϸrymskviða, and on their relation to the Old Norse religion. In the past, these comic and seemingly blasphemic poems used to be interpreted as a display of criticism of the religious system or, due to the impossibility to date their origin, as a product of late decadent paganism or even as a Christian satire of this religion. This paper shows that such interpretations are not necessary, and that the comic Eddic poems could have existed as a functional part of the Old Norse religion. It points out the affinity of the categories of religious humour and chaos. Subsequently, it presents various theories, mostly from the field of anthropology of religion, which show that a temporarily confrontation of order with chaos can be a desirable practise for a religion, and that humour can serve as a suitable means to achieve such a confrontation. The second part of the paper focuses on the particular Eddic poems. It analyses in detail their comic layers, and examines the possibilities of their function within the Old Norse religion on the background of the notion of piety and blasphemy in their time. Ásgarð, Miðgarð a Útgarð: mutual relationships and their interpretation

This paper attempts to systematize Old Norse cosmographical notions. It deals with two spacial cosmological concepts - the vertical and the horizontal one. At first, it examines each of these concepts separately, it introduces their structuralist interpretations as well as later critiques of these interpretations. Further on, it examines whether both of these spacial concepts are really sustainable in primary literature and whether their form really corresponds with structuralist models. On basis of critical approach to sources it defines a new model of verticality. The major focus of the paper is to analyze mutual reletionship of these two spacial cosmological concepts, to specify contexts in which they usually appear in the primary sources and to examine their function.

Taxation in terms of savings products

This thesis presents a comparison of five commercially available products most commonly used by Czech households: a savings account, buildings savings, pension insurance, investment life insurance and mutual funds in terms of taxation. The aim of the work is an overview of the taxation of selected products for the general public in a concise form and show specific impacts on individual cases.

Legislation on distribution of retail financial products in the Czech republic

The thesis analyses legal environment of the financial services market in relation with business practice of retail financial products distribution in Czech republic. It describes current legislation and instruments of regulation of the distributional activities both on national and supra-national (european) level. Furthermore, it introduces the development of regulation in light of identified weaknesses of legislation, leading to specific recommendations and measures ensuring vast consumer protection and fixing the level-playing-field in distribution throughout various sectors of financial markets and their layovers. The conclusions are based on author´s theoretical studies of economic and legal context and private business practice.

The Financial Arbiter in the Czech Republic

The presented thesis provides us with a brief excursion into the organizational structure of the Office of the Financial Arbiter, mainly deals with the origin and development of this institute. These include the legal definition of its scope, method of establishment and termination of the institute, requirements for the performance of the Financial Arbitrator and his deputy. Broader opportunities in these areas are engaged in the first chapter. The second chapter is the introduction of practical outputs of the decision-making activities of the Financial Arbiter. Most often it is a fee disputes, disputes regarding the validity of the contract or compliance with its provisions, as well as disputes in the area of payments, life insurance and foreign exchange activities. The conclusion evaluates the long-term benefits of the institute of the Financial Arbitrator and outlined its future development.

Possibilities of old age financing in the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation

This diploma thesis deals with pension systems that are applicable in the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation and comparing available products appropriate to ensure a higher standard of living in old age. In the introductory chapter is firstly analyzed demographic development. Followed by an analysis of the current state of the pension systems, with emphasis on the changes currently being performed. The aim of this work is to model examples to present the differences in opportunities pension security in both countries.

Práce je sumarizací jednotlivých institutů týkajících se koncernů v daňovém právu, objasňuje jejich význam a účel a zároveň na několika postřezích z praxe ukazuje jejich skutečné praktické dopady. Zhodnocuje právní úpravu koncernů z daňového hlediska a poskytuje načrtnutí možného dalšího vývoje této oblasti finančního práva. Daňová úprava koncernů je podrobněji analyzována z hlediska transakcí v rámci koncernů, příjmů a výdajů souvisejících s koncerny i oblasti daně z přidané hodnoty.
