Short Stories of the American Civil War/Povídky o americké občanské válce
MAŠKOVÁ, Tereza
This bachelor thesis will explore through literary fiction (specifically the genre of the short story) the history of the Civil War in the United States (1861-1865). The majority of the authors come from the north, and in the case of Ambrose Bierce, one served with distinction in combat for the Union forces. Both the experience of soldiers as well as the effect on the country (wives and children of soldiers, the slaves in the south, the civilian population etc.) will be examined and analyzed. The introduction will include an overview of the Civil War itself, with particular emphasis on the historical events depicted in the fiction under analysis.
Parental responsibility proceedings
Mašková, Tereza ; Frintová, Dita (advisor) ; Vyskočilová, Silvia (referee)
Parental responsibility proceedings Abstract The aim of this thesis is to provide with a comprehensive overview of the legal regulation of parental responsibility proceedings pursuant to section 466(e) of Act No. 292/2013 Coll., on special judicial proceedings, as amended, and to inform about the possibilities of amicable resolution of family conflicts with a focus on the Cochem model and family mediation. The diploma thesis is divided into 4 chapters, the first two parts concern parental responsibility proceedings. The first chapter introduces the reader to the issues under discussion and explains some basic terms. It discusses the institution of parental responsibility, which is quite fundamental for the procedural regulation, the holders and executors of parental responsibility. The second chapter deals in more detail with the sub-aspects of the parental responsibility proceedings, such as the subjects, in particular the parties and the court, which is linked in particular to the institution of jurisdiction, competence and also focuses on the special institution of delegation of jurisdiction. It also provides an explanation of the different types of proceedings in matters of parental responsibility, namely proceedings for the suspension of parental responsibility, proceedings for the limitation of...
Comparison of event marketing strategies of luxury fashion brands in the years 2010-2012
Mašková, Tereza ; Hejlová, Denisa (advisor) ; Klabíková Rábová, Tereza (referee)
Bachelor thesis "Comparison of event marketing strategies of luxury fashion brands in the years 2010-2012" deals with the event marketing as a tool through which selected luxury fashion brands (Dolce & Gabbana, Hermès, Louis Vuitton) on the Czech market communicate with their customers. First, the thesis defines the essence of event marketing and its position in the marketing communications mix. Subsequently, it indicates the main aspects of the luxury sector and characterizes the basic principles of the event marketing activities that are carried out in this area. The thesis describes selected events and than using comparative analysis reveals their obvious and latent intentions, on the basis of which each brand seeks to attract the target audience and convey unique and emotive experiences. The whole thesis points to the fact that the luxury fashion brands, which are mainly based on traditional and historical value, are able to effectively communicate with their customers through the communication tool that is considered as a modern, innovative and progressively growing part of marketing communications.
Integrated Thematic Instruction in The Step by Step educational programme
Mašková, Tereza ; Kargerová, Jana (advisor) ; Tomková, Anna (referee)
My theses called "Intergrated thematic instruction" in the "Step by Step programme" describes, analyses and evaluates the usage of Integrated Thematic Instruction (ITI) on the 1st level of the primary school. ITI is considered like one of the possibilities of the realisation of the educational content which is delimited by General Educational Programme which broad interpretation offers to this realisation. My theses is devided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the analysis of the educational content in regard with the schoolwork integration. Besides the integration itself, my theses also deals with thematic teaching and integrated thematic teaching in curriculated documents. My theses also refers to integrated thematic teaching in modification of the "Step by Step programme" and tries to limit ITI in the project teaching background. The integral component of the theoretical part is also a part devoted to the key competences and their acquisition. I focus on the components monitoring of the brain compatible environment during the real practical teaching in the "Step by Step programme". I analyse the above mentioned components within three ITI projects which happen during my classes. The analysis runs based on the Korthagen's cycle where the last phase of the...
Root system development in the early phases of plant ontogeny
Mašková, Tereza ; Weiser, Martin (advisor) ; Šmilauer, Petr (referee)
Root system development in the early phases of plant ontogeny Seed germination and subsequential developement of the root system is a critical stage of life of a newly rising plant. The plant must recognise and suitably and quickly find an answer to the environmental conditions in which it finds itself. However, the way in which the root system develops and its final architecture depends not only on the environmental conditions but also on the plant itself. In addition, responses to different conditions may vary among different plant species. This work examines the developement of a root system in the first four weeks of a plant's life. It observes the dependence on the amount of available nutrients in the substrate and on the amount of available nutrients the seed is given by the mother plant. It also briefly touches on the relations between seed germination, seed size and the amount of available nutrients. No differences relating to the amount of available nutrients were found in seed germination. However, differences in germination speeds were found between plant species. Plant biomass increases with the increasing amount of available nutrients in the substrate. This increase is relatively greater for plant species with a small seed size. Plant species with a big seed size invest relatively more...
Decisions in seed reproduction in plants
Mašková, Tereza
Seed reproduction is a key part of the life cycle of the most plant species. It allows for the dispersal of species in space and time and, thus, significantly affects dynamics of plant populations and communities. Seed formation, germination and seedling establishment are subjected to selection pressures from the environment and lead to optimization of maternal investments (maternal care), manifested by the number of seeds and amount and composition of nutrients stored in individual seeds. The thesis aims to answer two questions: (i) whether maternal investments in terms of seed mass and seed nutrient stoichiometry is optimized according to the environmental conditions in which seedling development is expected and (ii) how nutrient availability, considering nutrients both stored in the seed by the mother plant and those available in the substrate, affects seedling growth and development. To answer the first question, we focused on interspecific comparisons of seed nutrient stoichiometry linking it with data on seed mass and species niche along gradients of nu- trient availability. We used a phylogenetically informed comparative approach to explore the ratio between phosphorus, nitrogen and nonstructural carbon in seeds from 510 wild herbaceous species. We analyzed seed nutrient stoichiometry with...
Intraspecific variability in seeds nutrient stoichiometry
Kesl, Tomáš ; Mašková, Tereza (advisor) ; Konečná, Marie (referee)
Immediately after germination, the plants depend on the nutrients stored in the seed from which they germinated, until the nutrient intake is completely replaced by the mature leaves and roots. Nutrients in seeds are important for early development of vegetative organs. Their content and concentration in seeds can be influenced by various factors such as nutrient availability in soil, latitude, temperature, photoperiod, granivory and competition. This bachelor's thesis summarizes current knowledge about intraspecific and interspecific variability of seed nutrient stoichiometry, specifically nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon, as they most often limit plant growth. For all three elements, common and different trends can be observed, both at the intra-species and inter-species level. The only trend comparable between the intra-species and inter-species level is correlation of carbon seed concentration and latitude, while at the inter-species level there is also the opposite trend of negative correlation of latitude and carbon concentration in seeds. Other observed trends are not comparable between the intra-species and inter-species level. It is not possible to compare these trends, as there is lack of studies on the variability of seed nutrient stoichiometry. Therefore it is necessary to focus on seed...
