n-Alkanes and GDGTs biomarkers in lake sediments as a tool for quantitative paleoclimate reconstruction
Machová, Tereza ; Tátosová, Jolana (advisor) ; Jandová, Kateřina (referee)
The review is divided into two major sub-sections, the first focusing on n-alkanes and the second on GDGTs. Considering n-alkanes, the carbon chain length and the predominant evenness or oddness are of particular importance to identify the source organism. However, the high species and interspecies variability in chain length associated with environmental conditions or the differences in the amount of n-alkyl lipid production are problematic. Since n-alkanes are composed of carbons and hydrogens, they can also be studied based on their isotopic composition. Plants discriminate against heavier isotopes of carbon and hydrogen during the formation of organic molecules, resulting in the production of more depleted compounds. Using δ13 C, we can determine the water availability over time or the exchange between C3 or C4 vegetation; applicability is limited by the latitude of the site or bacterial production of n alkenes. δ2 H of C17 alkane can reveal the evapotranspiration of a lake and/or the δ2 H values of lake water, nevertheless, we need sufficient concentrations of the n-alkane in question, and be sure the source of the hydrogen in the lake water hasn't been affected in the past. GDGTs use to be analyzed primarily by their structure, which may change with changes in ambient temperature, i.e. GDGTSs...
A Masked Ball by Verdi and Auber in 19th century Prague
Druhá opera byla pod názvem Un ballo in maschera (Gustav III.) poprvé uvedena 30. 6. 1869 (světová premiéra zpěvohry Un ballo in maschera se konala v divadle Apollo v Římě 17. 2. 1859).

The diploma thesis deals with risky behaviour of youth living in the Chibolya Slum, Zambia. The risky behaviour includes various forms of behaviour with negative impacts on health or social functioning of an individual and these may also threaten the surroundings of the young people. Examples of risky behaviour include use of tobacco, alcohol or other drugs and sexually risky behaviour. The tendencies to risky behaviour may appear at any time, but the most endangered group are the adolescents. The thesis is divided into theoretical part and practical part. The theoretical part specifies the basic terms of the thesis: risky behaviour, young people and the Republic of Zambia. The chapters of risky behaviour and Zambia are described in consideration of situation of young people. In the research part of the thesis, there was used the quantity research strategy, the method of questioning and the method of a questionnaire, distributed among the young people living in the Chibolya compound. The aim of the research included mapping of risky behaviour of youth in Chibolya compound, Zambia and establishing the factors affecting the occurrence of risky behaviour at young people in the location. In compliance with the aim of the thesis there were set the research questions: "Which forms of risky behaviour appear in the Chibolya slum most frequently?" and "Which factors affect the risky behaviour of young people?". The data was processed using the program Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and the program SPSS, release 16.0 and 23.0. The research showed that the most frequent forms of risky behaviour at respondents in the Chibolya compound is the addiction-related behaviour. It is most frequently related to abuse of illegal substances, specifically marijuana. Another proved form of addiction-related behaviour is the abuse of alcohol - 62% of respondents use it regularly. The research results also show the factors affecting risky behaviour of young people. Social Worker as a Member of the Multidisciplinary Team in the Therapeutic Community
MÁCHOVÁ, Tereza
The present thesis is preliminary focused on the mapping and description of the scope of work of a social worker and the definition of his/her position within a multidisciplinary team of a therapeutic community. A description of the cooperation between a social worker and other members of multidisciplinary team within a therapeutic community shall be understood as a partial goal of the thesis. The bachelor thesis is divided into the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part contains definitions of basic terminology hereof: a social worker, a therapeutic community and a multidisciplinary team. This way, the comprehensive theoretical frame of the issue in question has been elaborated, which establishes a starting point for the following practical part of the thesis. In accordance with the main objective of the bachelor thesis the practical part contains a definition related to the following three survey questions: 1) What is the core role of a social worker within a therapeutic community? 2) How the other members of a therapeutic community perceive the importance of social work? 3) What is the position of a social worker within multidisciplinary team of a therapeutic community? In order to perform the survey, the qualitative research strategy was applied, as well as interviewing method and a technique of sub-structured interviews. The sample group has been formed by five members of a multidisciplinary team of one selected therapeutic community. The sourced data had to be analysed using the method of cluster analysis. The survey has revealed the work of a social worker within a therapeutic community lies in particular in social agenda addressing. These are mainly the cases when a client is provided with help in the field of social contributions and benefits and also in the field of debts. A social worker shall also instruct and teach a client what are the right approaches to his/her own matters and shall help him/her to come back to ordinary life successfully. Based on the survey, it has appeared that the other team members perceive the social work as day-to-day and integral part of activities within a therapeutic community, which is then being reflected also in a therapeutic process. The social work performed at the beginning of a treatment is understood by all the workers as the most important activity. It was also confirmed that a social worker represent an integral part of multidisciplinary team of a therapeutic community. The other team members appreciate his/her contribution especially to the field of social work expert knowledge which they do not have. A social worker's role within a team is to work as a coordinator and lecturer who helps to bring an explanation related to the social work towards all the other members of a team. The contribution of the present bachelor thesis lies in the increase of up-to-now awareness related to the activities and roles of a social work within a therapeutic community. The present thesis may also contribute to extended awareness of expert and general public. The bachelor thesis may be also useful as a background document for the elaboration of a diploma thesis.
