Helešic, David ; Kopec, Jakub (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
In contrast to the feelings and atmosphere associated with spa building stands crematorium as a reminder that our physicality is finite and fleeting life. Just as in spa rituals present moment experience free from the past and the future in the funeral liturgy, on the contrary, human life shrinks to a single point in time short ceremony. Consciousness of the time becomes a measure of the meaningfulness of our decisions, actions and experiences. You can live a meaningful life infinite?
Architecture of punishment and rehabilitation
Juríčková, Barbora ; Kopec, Jakub (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
A punishment is a self-protection of a society against a violation. It also serves as an exemplary warning. An imprisoned person is associated to the unfree spaces of jail. The environment of prison takes away an individual freedom of the imprisoned person and also his contact with outer society. When the punishment ends the separated people are very often unable to come back to the rutine of everydays life. The space division of a freedom and places with absence of freedom is just a wall. Releasing from jail is as fast as the imprisoning. Usually the prisoner is not ready to go back to the real world and the society does not help them to integrate. The result of this social phenomenon is a recidivism. Former prisoners are very often stigmatized for their whole life. The proposal solves a moment of releasing to freedom. The architectural intervation is located in the border between the freedom and jail - in the wall. A variation of different spaces tries to fulfill the huge mental gap and creates a dialog between to different worlds.
Modernity and the Holocaust
Cingeľ, Adam ; Kopec,, Jakub (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
The diploma thesis entitled Modernity and the Holocaust deals with the design of the Holocaust Documentation Center in Moravia. The project was preceded by an analytical part in the form of a pre-diploma project, which examined the city of Brno in connection with the issue of modernist thinking in society. The result of this theoretical work was, in addition to defining the scheme of the term "Otherness", also a map of the so-called "second" often rejected Brno. The diploma project focuses on the interconnectedness of the Holocaust and modern society. I try to find answers to the questions of this issue mainly through architecture and I apply my ideas to the design of the documentation center. Thanks to the findings from previous analyzes, the work gets to the topic of regulated and unregulated spaces, which the concept of the whole building is based on. The building is thus divided into two functional units. The lower part functions as an unregulated elemental structure, which becomes the life of the building. It interconnects individual functions and offers many possibilities of movement and division of space. This part is made of steel and, unlike the other part, looks much looser. The second part is the mass of the exhibition, which is lifted to the highest part of the object. This part is a controlled and regulated area. Thanks to its massive mass and concrete facade, it works looks hard and thus creates contrast not only in the level of operation, but also in the visual level. These parts work in a mutual relationship and thus create one unit, which is a combination of exhibition space and additional program such as a cafe, children's center, library or restaurant.

Shared offices in the southern part of the premises are primarily designed for people using airport services and residents who are tempted to work in a dynamic campus environment. Space of cyclic change
Krettková, Karin ; Kopec, Jakub (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
The project aims to respond to the cyclical nature typical of a Baltic resort, which it programmatically addresses by linking the function of a children's sanatorium with a hotel, the building responds to the commercial JUNKSPACE promenade with a back facade formed by a roof that creates both a shelter for the market and privacy for the sanatorium.
Space of cyclic change
Krettková, Karin ; Kopec,, Jakub (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
The brief of the thesis was to find and design a building that responds to the cyclical nature of the Baltic resort town of Svinousie. After analyses dealing with the natural, sociological and historical characteristics of the town, the building program was selected as a children‘s spa sanatorium. To position the parcel at the epicenter of resort commerce, it was necessary to resolve the programmatic conflicts and continuities between the sanatorium, the commercial promenade and the health promenade that line the parcel. Last but not least, the project addresses the conflict between the requirements of the sanatorium and the hotel, in terms of views and room illumination, which is resolved by its curved geometry. For the requirements of the users of the building - people with limited ability and orientation - the building is designed as barrier-free, instead of conventional accesses, where ramps and other means of ensuring comfortable use for all users of the building are relegated to the position of a design ornament, the concept of the building here is precisely barrier-free, and especially one dedicated to movement. The building is thus designed entirely as a continuous ramp
