Influence of Botulinum Toxin Application on Quality of Life in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis
Miňová, Zuzana ; Jirásková, Lucie (advisor) ; Kövári, Martina (referee)
The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to find out how medical application of botulinum toxin can affect the quality of life in patients with multiple sclerosis. The thesis is based on theoretical research providing a brief overview of the basic facts about multiple sclerosis - its pathogenesis, etiology, clinical picture, treatment alternatives. Further on, the thesis deals with the concept of spasticity, possibilities to influence it and also its valuation. The subsequent section comprises an overview of the findings about botulinum toxin and its therapeutic application. The term quality of life, an influence of the disease on the quality of life and also the methods used to evaluate it are described at the end of the theoretical part. The practical section contains case histories of two patients who underwent the medical application of botulinum toxin. The thesis is closed by a discussion on this topic. Lucie Vendelová Jirásková - Miniature and model stone vessels of the Old Kingdom - From typology to social and political background Abstract The present dissertation thesis proposes a new systematic research in stone model and miniature vessels, which were used in the burial context in the Old Kingdom. The scope of work encompasses the limits of typology towards the social and political history. A detailed study of the preserved assemblages of stone model and miniature vessels and their characteristics in the context of the production and distribution of stone vessels in the Old Kingdom shows their specific social meaning. The changes, which can be detected on the assemblages, either from the point of view of their morphology or material, clearly point to particular key periods of social and political changes, which influenced the production and distribution of stone vessels, either in the miniature and model forms, or in the form of large size functional pieces.
Interactions of membrane transporters with drugs in the placenta and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma
Jirásková, Lucie ; Červený, Lukáš (advisor) ; Mičuda, Stanislav (referee) ; Pejchal, Jaroslav (referee)
Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Candidate: Mgr. Lucie Jirásková Supervisor: doc. PharmDr. Lukáš Červený, Ph.D. Title of doctoral thesis: Interactions of membrane transporters with drugs in the placenta and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma Membrane transporters are found throughout the body, where they are responsible for many vital functions. Important representatives of membrane transporters are P-glycoprotein (ABCB1), Breast cancer resistance protein (ABCG2) and multidrug resistance-associated protein 2 (ABCC2) belonging to the ATP-biding Cassette (ABC) family. Nucleoside transporters belonging to Solute Carriers family (SLC) transporters represent another important group. It has been well evidenced that these transporters also affect drug disposition and contribute to tumor resistance to anticancer therapy. Over working on this dissertation thesis, we investigated the mentioned transporters (with special focus on nucleoside transporters) in complex fashion. We described the expression profile of nucleoside transporters in the placenta at different stages of gestation. We also examined whether the expression of nucleoside transporters changes depending on the degree of differentiation or can be affected epigenetically, and we...

ANNOTATITON Author: Lucie Jirásková Department: Department of rehabilitation medicine University hospital Hradec Králové Title of the bachelor's thesis: Lower extremities loading of the patiens after total hip joint replacement during walking up the stairs Supervisor: Mgr. Ondřej Němeček Number of pages: 70 Number of attachments: 2 The year of presentation: 2012 Keywords: Lower extremities loading, total hip joint replacement, walking up the stairs, reaction force, force platform Bachelor's work explores the loading of operated lower extremity with patients after total hip joint replacement during walking up the stairs. It adverts to connections following from kinesiology of joints of lower extremity, bipedal locomotion, total hip joint replacement and use of supporting - locomotive aids with loading of lower extremities. It describes the function and use of force platform - one of the possibilities, with which we can measure the loading of lower extremities. A part of this work is evaluation of the results of values of reaction force, vertically influencing the lower extremities, which demonstrate a real loading. The patients after TEP of the hip joint burden the operated lower extremity with this loading, when they walk the stairs.
