Growing genetically modified crops in the world
Herodesová, Adéla ; Jančák, Vít (advisor) ; Eretová, Veronika (referee)
The bachelor thesis analyses the regional differentiation of genetically modified crops' cultivation in each country's territorial breakdown. The thesis defines basic technical terms, biotechnological breeding history, and the classification of genetically modified crops according to the modified traits. Emphasis is placed on national attitudes towards the use of this biotechnology in agriculture and the resulting legislation. It is shown that legislation has a major impact on the cultivation of genetically modified crops. In particular, the thesis compares the legislative approach between the European Union and the USA, which differs significantly. A closer look is devoted to the cultivation of genetically modified crops in Czechia. Selected factors (organic farming, farm size structure, and nutritional deficiencies) that may be related to the cultivation of genetically modified crops in each country are examined based on graphs and maps generated from secondary data. The results are discussed with relevant literature. Keywords: GMO, genetically modified crops, regional differentiation, legislation, agriculture

Ližanová, Iveta ; Jančák, Vít (advisor) ; Milerová Prášková, Dagmar (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with food deficit issues in developing countries. First and foremost, it is dedicated to defining basic concepts that explain the food deficit. It then looks at the range of individual food deficit indicators, at different scale levels. Using graphs and cartograms made from available data, regional differentiation of malnutrition is shown. Based on a literature review, the extent of the food deficit is described, as well as which age and gender groups are most affected and for what reason. For selected factors causing malnutrition in developing countries, their dependence is verified by statistical analysis, namely correlation analysis and calculation of the Pearson and Spearman correlation factors. Finally, the options for addressing the food deficit according to the literary reshuffle are presented. The key words: Hunger, malnutrition, undernourishment, food insecurity, developing countries

The observations prompt the question why is the performance differentiated. Therefore, the regionally differentiated impact of processes such as deagriculturisation, deindustrialisation and tertiarisation in the period 2001-2011 is analysed by the use of analysis of components (namely shift-share analysis) and multivariate analysis (namely factor and cluster analysis). The thesis aims to provide answers in particular by giving a thorough analysis of how the changing rural paradigm (and regional theories in wider context) conceptualise the driving forces behind employment development in rural areas.
