Analysis of translation of the short story Girls by Oksana Zabužko

This dissertation is dedicated to the Ukraine writter Oksana Zabuzhko. At the beginning I'm describing literary-historical and biografical circumstances which led to the birth of her creation. Then I'm focusing on the charasteristic of her prosaic work and her style of writing including the very detailed analysis of her collections of stories named " Sister, sister". This dissertation is as well describing the position of female literature in the present Ukraine literacy process and Oksana Zabuzhko 's part in its development. Second part of my dissertation is focused on the analysis of the translated story called "Girls", from the collection of stories "Sister, sister". Evalution criterions are in this case the questions of equivalence - adequacy of the translation, translation of (un)translatable lexical units in Czech, the problems with translations of facts, translation of foreign languages' parts in original text and reproduction Olga Zabuzkova's style in all levels - syntactic, lexical and expressive as well. Minor mistakes in the translation to the Czech version were revealed during the research, but overall the translation is rated as a very successful one. The translator succeed in transfering of artistic values and pragmatic effect of the original work into Czech language.

The issue of error in the written discourse of Russian speakers (an analysis of the Czech texts)

In our diploma thesis we deal with mistakes in written discourse of Russian speakers. We are trying to explore the mistakes of Russian speakers on the materials of the Czech language and create several lingvodidactic recommendations about how to interpret the topic and how to prevent mistakes. We indtroduce a plentifully used communicative method for teaching foreign languagues and discribe four basic language skills. Key words: communicative method, basic language skills, written discourse, written communication, mistake, classification of mistakes, causes of mistakes, evaluation of mistakes.

Czech translation of Russian transgresivs in classical literature

This bachelor paper research on the possibilities of the translation of participles and transgressive turnovers from Russian to Czech language. Its aim it to determine the frequency of participles and other language resources use in transgressive Czech translations of Russian fiction; determine whether the choice of other means than the participles leads to the exact expression of the authors intentions; determine the most and least appropriate translation of Russian participles.

Bulgarian track in life of Božena Němcová

- English The Bulgarian trace in the life of Božena Němcová The relation of Božena Němcová to Bulgaria, the Bulgarian culture, the life and struggle of the Bulgarians in the late fifties and early sixties of the 19th century is one of the most important chapters of the Czech-Bulgarian cultural relations of the past. Unfortunately, it remains a matter almost unknown even to expert philologists. To get a better understanding of the relationship between B. Němcová and Bulgaria, we need to examine it in its close relation with her attitude towards other Slavic nations as part of the then predominating vision of the Slavic unity (the Pan-Slavic idea). The following text provides an analysis of her position regarding the quite complicated situation on the Balkans at that time, as well as her contacts with Bulgarians in Prague. Due to these acquaintances with writers or just texts written by certain Bulgarian (or Balkan in general) writers, she even started learning Bulgarian. There exist some of her translations of Bulgarian texts into Czech and even texts written in Bulgarian. Bilingualism of Russian speaking immigrants in the Czech Republic

(in English): This diploma thesis is focused on the Russian-speaking immigrants living in the Czech Republic, specifically on a group of those originating in Ukraine. It deals mainly with their speech behaviour during speeches in the language of the target country of their emigration, i.e., the Czech language, on the background of sociological, cultural and economic aspects. The thesis is divided into three basic chapters. The first chapter provides a brief description of the Russian-speaking emigration with the emphasis on the Ukrainian emigration. The main waves of the Ukrainian emigration from the end of 19th century to the present are described in this chapter. The target group of the study is the Ukrainian emigration after the fall of the communist regime in 1989 which is mainly concerned about the immigration of Czech compatriots and of labour emigration. Basic research strategies and the methodology of the study are described in the second chapter. Mainly qualitative research methods as well as quantitative methods were used in the thesis and the results of the quantitative method serve primarily to ensure the validity of the study during the linguistic analysis of individual respondents. Animal Symbols in Czech Phraseology in Comparison with Vietnamese Phraseology

The topic of this thesis is the comparison of symbols associated with occurrence of denomination of selected animal species in Czech and Vietnamese phraseology and idiomatics. In this respect it is an attempt to submit general characteristics of these symbols. The thesis consists of two main sections. The first section concentrates on parables, second one on proverbs. In both sections we characterized selected phraseological units from formal and semantic points of view and, if possible, we identified coincidences and similarities in both languages. Main Czech sources on which is this thesis based were two volumes of Slovník české frazeologie a idiomatiky (1. díl - Přirovnání a 4. díl - Výrazy větné) - Dictionary of Czech phraseology and idiomatic (1st part - Parables and 4th part - Sentential expressions), from Vietnamese point of view the main source was Từ điển Thành ngữ và tục ngữ Việt Nam - Dictionary of Vietnamese phraseology / idiomatics and proverbs.
