Sports data analysis
Horák, Patrik ; Bednář, Josef (referee) ; Hrabec, Pavel (advisor)
The main preoccupation of this thesis is analysis of ice hockey statistics. The first section describes widely used elementary and advanced ice hockey statistics. The second part contains selected comparable studies working with similar hypotheses. The third section introduces necessary mathematical tools, such as, Two-sample t-test, correlation, Two-way analysis of variance with no interaction and their nonparametric equivalents. In the last section described statistical hypotheses tests are applied to ice hockey dataset. Results interpretation is also included.
Measurement of Human Hand Geometric Parameters
Vanžurová, Anna ; Hrabec, Pavel (referee) ; Štarha, Pavel (advisor)
In practice, there is no easy way to obtain the size of the surface of a human hand. Therefore, this work deals with the search for a mathematical model determining the approximate surface of the hand. This model uses the basic geometric parameters of the hand obtained from her photograph. Since it is necessary to obtain parameters from the image, compare the mathematical model with reality and verify its accuracy in terms of statistics, the work includes the theory of digitization of image information, 3D scanning and statistics.
THEORETICAL PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS OF ADVANCED DESIGNS OF EXPERIMENT
Hrabec, Pavel ; Hlávka,, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kraus, David (referee) ; Bednář, Josef (advisor)
The methodology of the design of experimnet has become an integral part of the optimisation of manufacturing processes in recent decades. Problems regarding designs of experiments are still up to date, especially because of a variety of approaches to collecting and evaluating data. Scientists in different research and development areas often do not take into account possible shortcommings or even essential assumptions of selected design and/or its evaluation methods. This disertation thesis summarizes theoretical bases of selected designs of experiments. Describes several applications of central composite design on responses regarding wire electrical discharge machining process. And compares different designs of experiment for response surfaces of five parameters with regards to algoritmic selection of statistically signifficant parameters.
Hybrid Algorithms in Optimization
Zamazal, Petr ; Hrabec, Pavel (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
This work deals with the solution of an integer programming task using a hybrid algorithm. Mentioned task is a minimum cost network flow problem with option of adding new edges. The hybrid algorithm is based on a genetic algorithm using the network simplex method. Implementation is in the Python programming language.
Sabermetrics - Baseball Statistics that Measure In-Game Activity
Groman, Martin ; Hrabec, Pavel (referee) ; Bednář, Josef (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is dealing with statistical analysis of baseball players, whose performances are predicted with statistical models. We will use some mathematical terms, such as Markov chains, index analysis and linear regression. The outcome of this thesis will be comparison between predicted and real values.
Incremental Document Parsing in the HTML Rendering Engine
Hrabec, Pavel ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Burget, Radek (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to explore the CSSBox experimental rendering engine, to explore the possibility of its expansion on incremental rendering of documents and then to propose the necessary modifications. The opening chapters contain an overview of existing possibilities and subsequently, the solution is proposed. The proposed changes are implemented and tested. Experiments were performed and results evaluated. The conclusion is dedicated to the evaluation of results and options for further development are outlined.
Object Database in the GlobalsDB Environment
Hrabec, Pavel ; Rychlý, Marek (referee) ; Burget, Radek (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to explore the GlobalsDB database and to design, implement and test an  object persistence library for this database on Java platform. The opening chapters contain a  description of the existing possibilities and subsequently, our own solution is proposed. In the  following chapters, the implementation and testing of the proposed solution is described. Last  chapters compare the performance of the designed solution against its competition.
The Introduction and Application of General Regression Model
Hrabec, Pavel ; Štarha, Pavel (referee) ; Bednář, Josef (advisor)
This thesis sumarizes in detail general linear regression model, including testing statistics for coefficients, submodels, predictions and mostly tests of outliers and large leverage points. It describes how to include categorial variables into regression model. This model was applied to describe saturation of photographs of bread, where input variables were, type of flour, type of addition and concntration of flour. After identification of outliers it was possible to create mathematical model with high coefficient of determination, which will be usefull for experts in food industry for preliminar identification of possible composition of bread.
Least-squares fitting of multivariate data
Hrabec, Pavel ; Bednář, Josef (referee) ; Tomášek, Petr (advisor)
Thesis sumarizes basic theory required for inference of aproximation using the least squares method and aplicates this method on data obtained from engineering practice. Within thesis were created programs, in MATLAB enviroment, to solve this problem. MATLAB already contains several algorithms, wich are useful for solving this problem. Thesis includes comparsion of properties and test of those algorithms.
Relationship between the development of housing construction and GDP on the case of the Czech republic in the years 1995-2013
Hrabec, Pavel ; Sunega, Petr (advisor) ; Vebrová, Ludmila (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the relationship between the development of housing construction and the development of GDP in the Czech Republic in the years 1995-2013. The aim of this work is to prove or disprove the hypothesis that the housing construction can be characterized as overtaking indicator of GDP development in the Czech Republic. This goal is associated with the effort to expand the existing set of indicators overtaking economic cycle for better prediction of the economic crisis. To this purpose, the two time series are identically adjusted with mathematical and statistical methods in order to achieve the relevant comparison. Following comparison showed that the character of housing construction is largely countercyclical, so hypothesis was rejected. The observed relationship between housing construction and GDP is subsequently explained using stock-flow model DiPasquale-Wheaton on cases of economic recession and expansion. The result was that while the countercyclical nature of housing construction during the economic recession was caused by growing household demand for housing, in a period of economic expansion was caused by the growth of the construction costs.
