The People's Sovereign
von Wedel, Joachim ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Bargár, Pavol (referee) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee)
1. The introductory chapter provides an overview of the research question - namely the relationship between religion and modern democracy - and the literature used in the discussion of the topic. It is first shown that for the discussion of the connection between religion and modern democracy, no meaningful reference can be made to the concept of "political religions", which was developed in particular by Eric Voegelin for the connection between religion and modern totalitarian systems. On this basis, the concluding part of the introduction states the two central aims of the thesis: in a first step, other concepts (than that of political religion) are to be examined that might be considered for a discussion of the relationship between modern democracy and religion, in particular the concept of civil religion. Since this is not the case, the work turns to a second objective: the question of whether the historical beginnings of modern democracy in Paris in 1789 can instead provide a better answer to the question. 2. The second chapter will therefore examine the question of whether one of various conceptual proposals is suitable for clarifying this connection in a general way. Theological (Rothe, Gogarten, Rhonheimer), legal (Hörnle) and sociological (Durkheim) approaches are presented, but in...

Messianic Jews in Israel
Pošvářová, Viktorie ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the movement of Messianic Jews in Israel, its history and characteristics. Messianic Jews most often self-identify as Jews who believe in Jesus of Nazareth, his messiahship, and divine nature. The identity of Messianic Jews is therefore primarily Jewish, but their movement and faith are directly derived from Christianity. For this reason, it is possible to look at Messianic Jews as a phenomenon of multiple religious orientations. The thesis explains the concept of multiple religious orientation and the differences between multiple religious identity, participation and belonging, in order to subsequently apply this concept to a group of Messianic Jews in Israel. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to characterize the form of Messianic Judaism in Israel and answer the question of which type of multiple religious orientation this specific group of believers is.

Space and eschatology
Gondáš, Jaroslav ; Macek, Petr (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee)
The thesis deals with the problems of the perception of space in relation to eschatology. Its intention is to explore the main factors that have to led to the suppression of the spatial dimension of eschatology in favour of the time dimension throughout the history of Christianity. The main focus is on biblical eschatological motifs and their gradual transformation within the church and within the wider context of European thought. To support such an aim, a thorough analysis of two phenomena is provided: the history of European cartography and the relations between eschatology and utopian theories. The final part sums up the state of contemporary theological reflections on the topic studied and states partial conclusions and standpoints. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
