Labour market and spatial mobility in Plzen region
Duda, Petr ; Čermák, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Matušková, Alena (referee)
The Czech Republic underwent considerable social, political and economic changes after 1989. An important step was the creation of the labor market where jobs and wages were created based on market supply and demand. Due to effects of these market forces, unemployment was an unavoidable consequence. . Closely related to this was workforce flexibility which over the years became increasingly important. People migrating for work also had an effect on the housing market. The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the labor market in the Plzeň Region and the related spatial mobility since 2000 (with a brief development in the 90's). Another important objective is to determine to what extent the migration of the population is affected by the labor market situation and developments in the housing market. Two major institutions were used as the data source for processing thse reviews. The Labour Market in the Plzeň Region was mapped on the basis of data from the Labour Office in Plzeň. Data on development of spatial mobility and the housing market was gained from the Czech Statistical Office online databases and also from the Regional Office of CSO in Plzen. Key words: migration, labour market, housing market, Plzen
The symbolism of flowers in the Hindu ritual
Duda, Petr ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Marková, Dagmar (referee)
Plants and flowers play a relatively important role in the Hindu ritual and the elaborated system of rules concerning the suitability and unsuitability of particular flowers for particular gods offers an interesting subject of study in the field of ritual symbolism. This thesis attempts to describe the use of plants in the Hindu pj ritual and their possible symbolic functions. After summing up the present knowledge about the origin of the worship of deities in India in the last centuries of the period of Brahmanism within the Vedic domestic ritual tradition and stating the general similarities and differences between the temple and the domestic versions of the studied ritual, the thesis focuses on the latter, simpler version. A comparison of several primary materials has shown that the structure of the individual ritual acts during the ceremony is fixed and identical for all deities. The pjs for the individual gods and goddesses primarily differ on the level of the pronounced mantras. However, some specifics can be found with the offerings as well, while the most extensive instructions concerning the suitable and unsuitable offerings are those dealing with flowers. The analysis of more than three dozens of such passages has shown that besides a group of flowers which can be used for the worship of deities...
Flora of the Atharvaveda
Markovičová, Gabriela ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Duda, Petr (referee)
Yoga and God
Országh, Ján ; Duda, Petr (advisor) ; Štipl, Zdeněk (referee)
The present BA thesis is devoted to the problem of Īśvara, the supreme God, in the yoga philosophy as explained by Patañjali in his well-known Yogasūtras. Before approaching this issue, the philosophy of the classical sāṃkhya and yoga respectively is outlined, principal concepts and terms are explained according to the primary texts (Īśvarakṛṣṇa's Sāṃkhyakārikā and Patañjali's Yogasūtras) as well as secondary literature. Some differences between the two schools are mentioned and treated, too. After that, Patañjali's conception of God (which is lacking in classical sāṃkhya) is exposed. Related sūtras are treated where Īśvara is defined and referred to. These are followed by some considerations over this peculiar concept of God. It is argued and concluded that the notion of Īśvara in the Yogasūtras is not in accordance with the religious bhakti movement. Not being in any sense creator of the universe nor enjoying any sort of cult or religious practice and remaining in his eternal inertness and perfection, Īśvara can be best seen as a God of the yogīs, whose only aim, so to speak, is to serve as a perfect model for a liberation-seeking person. In the same vein, it is suggested that īśvara-praṇidhāna should not be translated as devotion to the God, but rather meditation on the God leading to the samādhi, an...
