Vestibular and postural biomarkers in spinocerebellar ataxias and peripheral vestibular lesions
Danková, Michaela ; Jeřábek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Roth, Jan (referee) ; Sivák, Štefan (referee)
Vestibular and postural biomarkers in spinocerebellar ataxias and peripheral vestibular lesions Abstract Vestibular dysfunction can be a part of clinical impairment in spinocerebellar ataxias. Together with cerebellar symptoms, it can lead to imbalance and also to impairment of dynamic visual acuity (DVA) in these patients. The aim of the work was to objectify the involvement of the vestibulo-ocular reflex in patients with SCA using modern diagnostic methods. At first the innovative method of video head impulse test (vHIT) was introduced in patients after vestibular schwannoma surgery, in whom a clearly defined vestibular impairment is present. We investigated DVA in SCA patients, the degree of the DVA impairment correlated proportionally with the impairment of vestibular function measured by vHIT. The best predictive values for DVA impairment were obtained by using a model that combined impairment of vestibulo-ocular reflex measured by vHIT and degree of cerebellar dysfunction according to SARA (scale for assessment and rating of ataxia). The research also aimed at the verification of postural stability disorders in patients with SCA using posturography. Standard posturographic parameters (area, sway path and mean velocity of Centre of foot Pressure - CoP) did not allow to distinguish between individual...
Significance of determination SAA of comparison with CRP and procalcitonin
Daňková, Michaela ; Zadina, Jiří (advisor) ; Průša, Richard (referee)
The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to evaluate serum amyloid (SAA) as a diagnostic marker in selected patient groups and to compare the results of SAA with those of C-reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT). SAA, CRP and PCT are acute-phase proteins, whose blood concentration significantly increases within a few hours after an inflammatory stimulus. The synthesis, caused by proinflammatory cytokines, takes place in the liver. CRP is the most and longest used acute-phase reactant in routine practice. As indicators of inflammation, SAA and especially procalcitonin have been used more lately. Although SAA is an acute-phase reactant as sensitive as CRP, it is not employed so often in the diagnosis since a method suitable for routine diagnosis was not developed until recently. Briefly describing the acute-phase proteins, the theoretical part elaborates on the characterization and comparison of SAA, CRP and PCT. It further outlines methods for the determination of individual analytes. The experimental part focuses on defining selected patient groups and the immunonephelometric method for measuring SAA by the Immage 800 biochemical analyzer. The data obtained in three selected patient groups have been statistically evaluated. The aim of the thesis has been to evaluate the correlation of inflammatory...
Targeted next generation sequencing of candidate genes responsible for impaired spermatogenesis and male infertility
Daňková, Michaela ; Liška, František (advisor) ; Holá, Dana (referee)
Infertility is a widespread health problem, caused by the male factor in about half of all cases, and in about a half of the infertile men the cause is unknown. In a significant number of these men, genetic etiology is assumed. Current routine methods of laboratory diagnostics, which include karyotype examination, exclusion of mutations in the CFTR gene, and Y chromosome microdeletions, do not usually reveal the cause of infertility. That is why researchers' efforts aim at detecting mutations in other genes that are causing male infertility. In recent years, animal models have been used to identify many genes necessary for fertility. Based on these findings, 12 candidate genes have been selected (CAPZA3, CDC14B, CDC42, CNTROB, CSNK2A2, GOPC, HOOK1, HRB, OAZ3, ODF1, RIMBP3, SPATA16) that are essential for spermatogenesis. Mouse or rat mutants in these genes are primarily associated with oligoasthenoteratozoospermia, since they are involved in sperm morphogenesis. However, the phenotype spectrum may comprise also azoospermia. The purpose of the thesis was to determine the sequence of the afore mentioned genes in infertile men with impaired spermatogenesis and to reveal presence or absence of pathogenic mutations in these genes, using cDNA and genomic DNA from peripheral blood. The candidate genes were...

Support for small and medium enterprises in the Visegrad Four countries
Daňková, Michaela ; Němečková, Iveta (advisor) ; Hinčica, Vít (referee)
This work is focused on supporting of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Visegrad Four (V4), i.e. the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic, Poland and Hungary in 2007 - 2013. The work analyzes the governmental support of SMEs in each of these V4 countries, which includes the situation of the SMEs, institutions providing support and individual programs of support. This part is followed by the SWOT analysis of support systems in V4 countries. The final chapter is devoted to the practical application of support system of SMEs in the V4 countries on the example of state assistance to entrepreneurs affected by the floods in June 2013. This work gives a comprehensive look at the issue of support of SMEs in the V4 countries and provides detailed understanding of their position and importance of small and medium-sized enterprises at both, national and international level.
Optimization of selected business processes in the company ALCA CZ
Kovanda, Lukáš ; Říhová, Zora (advisor) ; Daňková, Michaela (referee)
The aim of this master thesis is the improvment of selected processes in the organization where a company can save considerable costs and speed up processes with customers, proposes metrics for measuring the performance of individual processes and overall improvement of the organization. First part of the tesis deals with the theoretical aspects and the transformation from functional to process control, modeling based on different methodologies and standards and measuring performance of individual processes. Second part presents the organization and its situation and position on a market and pointed the problematic aspects of processes and suggests how to develop the processes to be more efficient in all directions. Last but not least are the metrics used to monitor and evaluate the goals of the processes and their successful implementation. After the incorporation analyzed processes in the organization should be the company able to move significantly in the overall success of the operation on the market.
The impact of Foreign Direct Investment on the economies of developing countries
Daňková, Michaela ; Cihelková, Eva (advisor) ; Bič, Josef (referee)
This work explains foreign direct investment (FDI) in developing countries and their impact on the economy of this group of states. The first section describes the flows of FDI to developing countries in the last two decades. The second part deals with the effects of FDI on the economies of developing countries, and these phenomena are divided into positives and negatives. The last chapter focuses on economic development of China in connection with the inflow of FDI into the country. All the evidences are reviewed at the end of my work.
Ochrana konkurence na bankovních trzích
Daňková, Michaela ; Šveňková, Alena (advisor) ; Munzi, Tomáš (referee)
Bankovní klienty zajímá vedle fungování a bezpečnosti bankovního sektoru především kvalita služeb a výše bankovních poplatků.
