Bosák, Martin ; Dvořák, Miloš (referee) ; Nový, Alois (advisor)
The content of the thesis is an architectural study of the temporary accommodation of migrants and finding a suitable location on the territory of the city of Brno. The choice of land suitable for construction must meet not only the technical requirements but also take into account the sensitive public relation to this type of equipment. The location of the Malměřice-Obřany district in Brno, currently managed as a brownfield, meets all the requirements and contributes to the reclamation of urban space.
Does trading strategy based on overreaction and stock-bond decoupling generate additional profits?
Bosák, Martin ; Čech, František (advisor) ; Baruník, Jozef (referee)
Studying whether new trading rules provide higher returns than the buy-and-hold strategy is relevant for both finance theory and the asset management field. In this thesis, we examine the profitability of the newly proposed trading strategy based on the concept of price overreaction on eight developed stock indices. In comparison to other studies, we extend a definition of price overreaction with an inclusion of a minimum volatility threshold. Based on the Ordinary Least Squares model, we find that a volatility condition significantly improves the predictability of return reversals after positive price overreaction. For comparison with the buy-and-hold, we use Hansen's Superior Predictive Ability test that corrects the data snooping bias. Despite better annualised returns during in-sample and out-of-sample periods, the results show that the proposed strategy is not superior to the buy-and-hold at any stock index due to heavy reliance on the predictions of the largest declines. Nevertheless, we confirm the effect of decoupling (flight to quality) that can positively affect our strategy, but only when we do not take into account transaction costs. In the end, we summarize behavioural concepts that lie behind our strategy as the overreaction and decoupling are mostly justified with cognitive biases.
Impact of zombie firms on the weak post-crisis growth of the Slovak Republic
Bosák, Martin ; Pleticha, Petr (advisor) ; Kočenda, Evžen (referee)
According to the Convergence Analysis of Slovakia from 2017, the current subject of Slovak economic growth and convergence is the slow growth in productivity as relative productivity of Slovakia to the EU average was decreasing in the period from 2014 to 2017. Moreover, it shows that Slovakia is one of the countries with low efficiency of using labour and capital, which means that there is an occurrence of misallocation of resources. A significant role in this downturn according to recent literature might be the occurrence of zombie firms, which are old companies that do not have sufficient profitability to cover their interest expenses for a longer period. This thesis examines zombie firms and their significance in stifling productivity performance. Using a rich firm-level dataset for Slovakia, we research the determinants of zombie companies in Slovakia. Controlling for cyclical effects, this thesis reveals that zombie enterprises over the period from 2003 to 2013 were significantly less productive compared to their healthy competitors. In addition, we find out that occurrence of zombie companies curbs the growth of healthy companies and has a negative impact on the economic output overall. These results are raising several issues for public policy as it needs to mitigate this cause of...
Impact of zombie firms on the weak post-crisis growth of the Slovak Republic
Bosák, Martin ; Pleticha, Petr (advisor) ; Teplý, Petr (referee)
Productivity growth is diminishing among OECD countries, coupled with increased differences in productivity development among enterprises and misallocation of resources. A recent literature focuses on the role of zombie firms, defined as old firms that have persistent problems meeting their interest payments, to explain these developments. This thesis examines the extent to which zombie firms are stifling labour productivity performance. Using a rich firm-level dataset for Slovakia, we assess the role of zombies on firm dynamics. We confirm the results that prevalence of zombie firms curbs the growth of healthy firms and thus dragging aggregate productivity down. Controlling for cyclical effects, our analysis shows that zombie firms over the period 2003-2013 are significantly less productive within industries than their healthy counterparts. Furthermore, a higher share of industry capital or employment sunk in zombie firms is associated with lower labour productivity, investment and employment growth of the typical non-zombie firm, which results in less productivity-enhancing capital reallocation. These results highlight the role of public policy in addressing prevalence of zombie firms, fostering a more efficient resource allocation and enabling productivity growth.

Bosák, Martin ; Zikmundová, Veronika (advisor) ; Oberfalzerová, Alena (referee)
The topic of this thesis are the Mongolian tactics in the Mnogol Empire period. I also describe military strategy of the Mongols and organization of their army in general. Comparison with the European armies is part of the thesis. I would like to summarize and systematize knowledge and information from various sources related to the chosen subject, as a basis for further research. With the help of the collected information I will try to portray Mongols differently than common disorganised and wild 'barbarian horde'. I will also describe the reasons, why at that time Mongolian warriors did not have competition on the battlefield. In this thesis, I use mainly indirect historical method. In the historical part I used mainly secondary literature. In the main part I tried to work with historical sources as many as possible. I added my own commentaries and opinions and interpretations of well-known authors. From wide choice of literature, I managed to create a comprehensive view into the Mongolian military study. During the study of literature, I found out many various tactics which Mongolian warriors often used during their campaigns to defeat enemy both in field and during besieging the cities. I tried to organize these tactics and describe their usage in detail. In the last part of the thesis I...

The others prefer to gradually improve them step by step. The most common variant, which usually best fit, is to mix these approaches. The tools and methodologies are needed for implementation also. One such tool is the Metastorm BPM. The outcome of the project, which is described in practical section of this thesis, was created with its utilization.
