Odessa as text. Topos of the City in the Literary Works of Authors of the Odessa School

(in English): This thesis deals with the literary image of Odessa in the texts of the literary generation of authors of the early 20th century known as the Odessa School. The first part of the thesis examines the category of space in literature, focusing on the researches of scholars from the Tartu Semiotic School in the area of the Petersburg text of Russian literature. At the same time, the approaches of the Tartu Semiotic School constitute the initial methodological framework of this thesis. Following the conception of the Petersburg text, main proposition of this thesis assumes the existence of a unified Odessa text of Russian (or Ukrainian) literature. Its common features and essential characteristics are identified through the analysis of selected texts by Isaak Babel, Eduard Bagritsky, Ilya Ilf, Valentin Katayev, Yevgeny Petrov, Yuri Olesha and Konstantin Paustovsky. In an attempt to provide a comprehensive insight into the problems of the Odessa text, this thesis includes chapters introducing the historical development of Odessa and its specific position within the Russian Empire. Attention is also paid to the process of formation of the Odessa myth and the characterization of the Odessa School poetics. Metamorphoses of the magazines for children and adolescents published before and after 1989

The aim of this thesis was to describe metamorphoses that have occurred in children's magazines, which were published before 1989 and whose publication continued after the Velvet Revolution. Comprehensively are analysed magazines Mateřídouška and ABC mladých techniků a přírodovědců (from the originally planned six journals, which meet the selection criteria) since their inception to the present, on the basis of selected years in five- year intervals. Although the description of the literary component constitutes the basis of this thesis, attention is also given to the overall content and appearance, particularly the influence of political events on given periodicals. The assumption was that the biggest changes in all examined aspects occurred in Mateřídouška and ABC mladých techniků a přírodovědců after 1989. Carried out the research, it was found that in the case of both magazines same trends occurred on their pages: articles, reports and literary component have been gradually replaced by an amusing component, e.g. contests, quizzes, riddles (even before 1989); literary component significantly decreased in both cases after 2000; after the Velvet Revolution, both periodicals can be described as apolitical (whereas until 1989 its content was strongly influenced by political events in our country).
