Injury rate in men's volleyball
Bočková, Barbora ; Hájková, Jana (advisor) ; Pokorný, Ladislav (referee)
TITLE: Injury rate in men's volleyball AUTHOR: Barbora Bočková DEPARTMENT: Department of Physical Education SUPERVISOR: PaedDr. Jana Hájková ABSTRACT This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of injuries in men's volleyball. The aim of this study was to determine the most commonly injured body part among volleyball players. The partial goals were to determine the extent to which injuries are related to playing activities, playing positions, recovery, whether injuries occur more often in training or during matches, and what the coaches of the extraliga teams think about the issue of injuries. The thesis consists of two main parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is divided into three topics: volleyball, injuries, and recovery. The volleyball topic deals with the characteristics of volleyball, rules, and the structure of sports performance. The injuries topic contains a description of injuries, sports injuries, and the most common types of injuries in volleyball. The recovery topic deals with the characteristics of recovery itself and its selected forms. The practical part includes the interpretation of results from 57 answered questionnaires from players and 4 questionnaires from coaches in the form of tables and graphs. Research questions were created in accordance with the aim of the...
Phonetic realization of coda /t/ in current Southern British English pronunciation
Bocková, Barbora ; Skarnitzl, Radek (advisor) ; Luef, Eva Maria (referee)
The phoneme /t/ is known for featuring a wide variety of realizations in speech throughout the English-speaking world. Its realization is conditioned both by linguistic factors, such as phonetic environment or stress, and by social factors, such as region, sex, or socioeconomic background. The present bachelor thesis aims to explore and analyse the manifestations of coda /t/ in current Southern British English pronunciation. The theoretical section includes a general description of stops in world languages and an overview of various realizations of /t/ in varieties of English and recent pronunciation developments in standard British English. In the empirical part, recordings of 16 speakers of Southern British English from political radio debates were collected and processed. An auditory analysis of the phonetic realization of the target consonants was conducted and subsequently, the occurrence of individual variants was evaluated in terms of segmental, prosodic as well as semantic context. The results confirm that stress, the word's position within a phrase, its segmental environment and semantic status, and the speaker's sex all have an influence on the realization of /t/ in speech. Furthermore, the thesis documents the recent development of the sociolinguistic status of glottalling, which has...

The effect of wearing high heel shoes on pelvis motion.
Bočková, Barbora ; Malá, Jitka (advisor) ; Satrapová, Lenka (referee)
Title The effect of wearing high heel shoes on pelvis motion Aim of the thesis The main aim of this thesis is the verification of the influence of wearing high heel shoes on pelvis motion in the sagittal plane, while walking on high heel shoes and walking on heel less shoes. After then, we want to monitori the impact of walking in these shoes on the trajectory of pelvis motion. Methods Objectification method was 3D record of human gait (= kinematic analysis), which was performed using the Qualisys Track Manager. In our thesis we used the method of comparison. The aim of the study is the comparison of parameters measured in different types of shoes (high heeled shoes, high heeled less shoes with barefoot gait) and the influence on pelvis motion in the sagittal plane. Measurements were carried out in the gym at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at ten probands. Results Pelvis tilt to retroversion was more significant when walking on heel less shoes compared with high heel shoes and barefooted walking, also an angle of the trunk and pelvis were most significantly diminished when walking on heel less shoes compared to barefooted walking and high heel shoes. Objectively, a larger deflection of pelvis trajectory while walking on high heel shoes was not confirmed compared to walking on heel less...
Bordetella pertussis and whooping cough: Bacterium and its virulence factors, epidemiology of disease and vaccination strategy.
Bočková, Barbora ; Holubová, Jana (advisor) ; Seydlová, Gabriela (referee)
Bordetella pertussis, a gram-negative bacterium, is a human pathogen which affects the upper respiratory tract. It is the causative agent of whooping cough or pertussis. B. pertussis produces several virulence factors consisting of toxins and adhesins. Whole cell vaccine and subsequent acellular vaccine were developed against pertussis in the past. However, a gradual increase of pertussis incidences has been reported in the last twenty years. This thesis provides basic information about B. pertussis and whooping cough. The main aim of the herein presented work is to summarize the contemporary epidemiologic situation along with determining reasons for increased pertussis cases. In addition, possible solutions for the present situation are proposed.
Construction of a genetically detoxified Bordetella pertussis strain to develope a new generation of whole-cell vaccine
Bočková, Barbora ; Holubová, Jana (advisor) ; Seydlová, Gabriela (referee)
Bordetella pertussis is a strictly human pathogen colonizing the upper respiratory tract, causing a respiratory disease known as whooping cough or pertussis. The introduction of whole-cell vaccines and acellular vaccines, resulted in a significant reduction in the incidence of disease and reduce the fatalities associated with infection. However, epidemiological data show a significant increase in the incidence of the disease in recent decades. The increasing incidence is mainly attributed to the transition from the whole- cell vaccine to an acellular vaccine. Based on research from recent years has shown that acellular vaccines have many drawbacks, and it is therefore necessary to change the vaccination strategy. One possible solution to the situation is the development of a new generation of whole-cell vaccines with reduced reactogenicity. The new whole-cell vaccine was prepared by a genetically modified B. pertussis strain. B. pertussis was modified using allelic exchange to develop strain encoding enzymatically inactive pertussis toxin, modified lipid A and lacking dermonecrotic toxin. This combination of genetic modifications in mice led to a decrease in reactogenicity test vaccine in vivo. In case of intranasal infection whole-cell vaccine containing genetically modified strain is providing...

Aim The main aim of this work is the verification of the influence of wearing high heel shoes on pelvis motion in the sagittal plane, while walking on high heel shoes and walking on unmeasured high heel less shoes yet.
