Shaping the identity of a place in relation to historical consciousness
Fojtová, Romana ; Blaive, Muriel (advisor) ; Maur, Eduard (referee) ; Havelka, Miloš (referee)
This thesis deals with Zelów as a place of live of Protestants, whose ancestors left the Czech land after the 1740. The group identified with the Czech Reformed tradition. By the end of the 19 century, they were discovered such as the communitie of fellow countrymen, and therefore the thesis focuses on their descriptions in the press and books. The visits of Jan Auerhan, Vladimír Míčan or Josef Folprecht illustrate the approach of the assistance to fellow countrymen, who perceived them as a lost branch of the Czechs. However, their interpretations were affected by the sight of national glasses, and at the same time they decided to support them in order to avoid assimilation. The second part of the work focused on the repatriation action from Poland to Czechoslovakia. Based on extensive archival research, we interpret the situation and activities of the Society of the Czech Exiles and Returnees from Poland, which helped Czech evangelicals abroad who, despite their wishes, were not settled in one place, but on the contrary scattered to the border area. The last part of the dissertation presents an interpretation of the term "exile tradition" by Edita Štěříková and several Diaries, in which we show how life in Zelów was remembered, how they described it, what they emphasized. At the same time, in the...

Monopoly of truth. The Postwar History revision in Czech Republic and Israel.
Studený, Luboš ; Spurný, Matěj (advisor) ; Blaive, Muriel (referee)
The paper deals with comparison of trajectories of the post-war history revision in Czechoslovakia and Israel where the comparison with the Czech case should serve as a referential framework for introducing the disputes in Israeli historiography into the Czech environment. After the theoretical introduction, the second part analyses the development in Israeli historiography using a generation model and mainly the "new historiography" and the discussion that this group provoked. The following comparative part compares the debate on the post-war "resettlement" of Germans with the debate on the causes of the birth of the Palestinian refugee problem.

Lóži, Marián ; Pullmann, Michal (advisor) ; Blaive, Muriel (referee)
Diploma thesis is aspiring to cover and interpret processes, which in the period of culminating Stalinism determined course and results of intraparty terror in the local - mainly regional and departmental - organizations of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. It is thoroughly addressing the state of affairs on the lower levels of the party organism. It is monitoring not only techniques of functioning or on the contrary dysfunction of hierarchic machinery, but also various interests of given individuals or even whole groups emerging in the party. Under the label of intraparty terror it then comprises dictatorial practice of leading officials which established itself on the local level as well as fight against it headed be lower functionaries and active party members. Both actualities are not interpreted from the outside by some general causes, but as autonomous phenomenons with their own preconditions and dynamics, more or less different in every region. Resulting scenarios consequently demonstrated considerable variety. Finally great scope is dedicated to the Stalinist ideology, which is not percepted as a constricted doctrine creating loyal subjects, but as a complex discourse providing party members with language in which they can act and pursue their goals. It endowed necessary instruments...
