Supporting self-care skills in children with autism spectrum disorder through applied behavioral analysis methods

The thesis deals with the problem of learning self-care skills in children with autism spectrum disorder through the methods of applied behavior analysis. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the legislative framework of education in the Czech Republic with a focus on special education counselling and the provision of support measures in education. Furthermore, autism spectrum disorders are characterized and the basic theoretical foundations of applied behavior analysis are defined. The empirical part of the thesis is divided into two parts, the first of which aims to present the theoretical foundations of the problem of toilet training, developed mainly from foreign literature, as well as foreign studies conducted on the topic. The second part of the empirical part of the thesis contains a case study of two children with autism spectrum disorder. In the preparation of the empirical part of the thesis, the following techiques were used: analysis of the studied literature, review of foreign studies, document analysis and case study. Attitudes to pupil with learning disabilities and behavioral disorder at lower secondary school from the perspective of school teacher assistant

The main subject of the thesis is based on characteristics of the attitudes to a pupil with specific learning disabilities and behavioral disorder in the frame of an upper stage of an ordinary elementary school (based on the standards of the Czech republic). The theoretical part initially describes the school system of Czech republic and the legislative framework of the primary education of pupils with special educational needs. Subsequently, a group of pupils with specific learning disabilities and behavioral disorder is defined from a main group of pupils with special educational needs. Thereafter, the provided support to those pupils is characterized alongside with a brief job description of a school teacher assistant. Considering the frequent connection of special learning disabilities to other difficulties, the symptom ADD/ADHD is explained as next. The pupil's personality is specified in the last section. The objective of this Bachelor's thesis is the processing and the description of the attitudes to a pupil, to whom a special learning disability was diagnosed - dysgraphia and behavioral disorder on the basis of ADHD, obtained through personal experience from the position of a school teacher assistant.
