Honová, Veronika ; Buchalcevová, Alena (advisor) ; Benáčanová, Helena (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to characterize and evaluate WYSIWYG tools used in user interface design of desktop applications and then to select the best tool. In order to achieve this goal it is first necessary to define a terminology in the problem domain of the user interface design and afterwards to specify the evaluation criteria and their weights of the tools assessment. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part explains terms like user interface, application, WYSIWYG technologies and describes the basic principles of user interface design. The practical part defines criteria for evaluation of tools used in design of user interface and characterizes selected tools. The last chapter of the practical part contains final assessment of the selected tools and the best tool is chosen. The tools chosen for evaluation are GUI Design Studio, Microsoft Expression Blend, Microsoft Office Visio, Java GUI Builder and Balsamiq Mockup. Evaluation criteria that have been selected are license, price, availability of trial version, the quality of information on the website, support, Czech localization, friendly user interface and functionality. Weights of criteria are based on one of the methods of the multi-criteria decision analysis. Contribution of this thesis can be found in evaluation of selected tools used in design of user interface and thus in comparison of several different tools.

Čech, Štěpán ; Kunstová, Renáta (advisor) ; Benáčanová, Helena (referee)
The thesis is concerned with the implementation of a document management system (DMS) in a small firm where I've been working for almost 4 years as an information technician. The aim of the thesis is to implement the particular DMS product that is in this case an open system Alfresco. The project of the implementation itself is preceded by the firm analysis phase that includes a process analysis, an analysis of relevant documents as well as an economic analysis. Through this analysis series of inadequacies in work activities of individual employees were recognized and these are aimed to be minimized or eliminated with the help of the Alfresco system implementation. Within the scope of project stages description concerning the implementation of the Alfresco the thesis is focused especially on the analysis phases and solution design, the implementation, the customization and finally the operation. Throughout the above mentioned stages a new structure of some processes is suggested, including a change of the firm organization structure, furthermore basic functions of Alfresco system are described and a fundamental rules framework is defined to know how to use the Alfresco system in concrete cases. The end of the thesis contains an evaluation whether to apply the Alfresco system in a small firm or not and further a three-month's testing period and its influence on the firm is being discussed.
The CIO's Role in a Company
Kouřimský, Vlastimil ; Benáčanová, Helena (advisor) ; Pour, Jan (referee)
Who is the CIO in a knowledge society at the time of an information big bang and in the environment of a global village? Who were they in the 1970s? Who would they like to become in the future? What are their qualifications for that and what are their handicaps? These are the questions that this thesis has sought to answer. A knowledge society will continue to need to coordinate, transfer, and re-use information and this need will best be met by IT. The CIO is proceeding from a new sort of manager through a technology expert to a hybrid manager who connects technology knowledge and business skills with interpersonal skill--soft skills. Drawing on broader context and team support, the CIO must take prompt decisions whose main function is to generate added value. Generating this added value seems to be difficult to measure, which threatens the CIO's position just like cutting IT budgets, outsourcing their tasks or ousting CIOs from the executive teams. A way to success may lead through forming their own visions and handling communication effectively but also through creating a synergy.
