The Disneyfication of Marvel: The Influence of Disney storytelling on Marvel Studios Movies
Vařeka, Jakub ; Podzimek, Jan (advisor) ; Šuhajová, Klára (referee)
The Walt Disney Company is nowadays one of the largest producers of movie entertainment in the world. Studios owned by Disney share around 40 % of overall Hollywood movie production every year. Because of that, a certain scepticism arises concerning wether Disney tries to standardise all of their production in order to gain income and wider audience. One of such productions is Marvel Entertainment, a company which focuses on creating superhero movies. Said scepticism formed into a term "Disneyfication of Marvel," which is generally used by core fans of the original superhero genre. This thesis firstly focuses on exact definition of the term disneyfication as a creative approach using available definitions from academic literature. Based on that, it sets concrete components which can be labeled as "Classic Disney." Afterwards, the focus shifts towards two samples of Marvel movies in which mentioned components could be found. First sample is a compilation of three Marvel movies from around early 2000s when the company was still independent. Second sample constitutes of three Marvel movies after the acquisition by Disney. Both are then compared to see if Marvel production could be undergoing disneyfication.

Novák, Karel ; Rosenfeldová, Jana (advisor) ; Šuhajová, Klára (referee)
Viktor Cabadaj is one of the most memorable, even legendary movie characters of the Czech popular culture, who has entertained whole generations of audiences. However, no one asked yet, what is the real reason, that he attracts and fascinates people? By combining the scientific method of content analysis and Richard Dyer's theory of signs of a movie character, it was revealed in our case study, what is Viktor Cabaj's movie character like. From the research of the movie "Sněženky a machři" (Snowdrops and Aces) (1982), a massive amount of both qualitative and quantitative data was obtained, and an analysis and interpretation of this data was made. The results of this research proved, that Cabadaj is the main star of the movie, a person who fascinates people, an eternal leader, the main and funny organizer of events. His true nature is discovered by examining his relationships, his position in the social structure, his actions, his speech, speech of others, his objective correlatives, appearance, gestures, meaning of his name, audience foreknowledge, and mise-en-scene. The most important information about the object of the research seems to be his dualism. He manages to enter into the minds of his social vicinity and film spectators, by combining obvious mastery in the game of power, and apparent...

For centuries classical myths have been an unfading source of inspiration for various fields of human production. Integral part of the myths are their heroes. This bachelor thesis aims to explore the development of the representation of classical heroes in film. Introduction to the theoretical part defines the terms myth and mythology. A brief study of the circumstances surrounding the origin of myths, their significance for classical society and the role of heroes in these myths follows. The end of the theoretical part is dedicated to the study of representation in film and other relevant concepts in the field of film and media theory. The methodology chapter sets out the procedures used to perform the empirical research. Three pairs of films with the same mythical theme have been selected for this research. The practical part contains performed analyses and comparisons of the examined films. At the end of the thesis are presented interpretations of analyses and research results and outlined the possible causes of the described development in the representation. The comparison between regular sections in the magazine Tramp and in the magazine Puchejř
Šuhajová, Klára ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Halada, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with comparison of regular sections of "tramping" magazine Tramp, published between the World War I and the World War II (so called the First Czechoslovak Republic period), and a modern magazine Puchejř. (Tramping in Czech and Slovak language describes a movement incorporating woodcraft, hiking/backpacking/camping and scouting, with a characteristic flavour of and styled on American culture, especially Wild West). Forms of the First Czechoslovak Republic "tramping" and present movement differ in many ways. I expected, that due to these differences, the content of these magazines from different periods will be divergent. The task of this thesis is to find and compare these differences. The thesis consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with differences between the historical and present form of "tramping" itself, and "tramping" magazines. Practical part examines the articles in regular sections of magazine Tramp and magazine Puchejř using the method of content analysis. The 22nd volume of the magazine Puchejř and the first six numbers of the 3rd volume of the magazine Tramp were used as research samples. The research confirmed the hypothesis. It was partly proved, that the articles of regular sections of researched magazines are...
