Šimčíková, Klára ; Sehnálková, Jana (advisor) ; Litera, Bohuslav (referee)

In this new phase of escalation of the Cold War, Ronald Reagan's administration applied a new foreign policy strategy in the Third World. This new strategy, known as the Reagan Doctrine, included increased assistance to anticommunist insurgencies against client regimes of the USSR. This thesis examines the application of the Reagan Doctrine in Afghanistan. Using this country as a case in point, it attempts to find out to what extent the Reagan Doctrine was a coherent strategy or whether there were any inconsistencies in its application. Also, it seeks to find out how successful the Reagan Doctrine was in Afghanistan with regards to forcing the Soviet troops to withdraw. It also shows the long-term consequences for the USSR, the United States and Afghanistan itself.

Sýkora, Jakub ; Salač, Josef (advisor) ; Dvořák, Jan (referee)
59 Cizojazyčné resumé The legal regulations of the unit owners' association and its issues in practice The questions in regards to the flat ownership and unit owners' association are very topical nowadays, mainly with respect to the fact that this subject affects the daily life of many addressees of law regulations. The poor elaboration of the legal regulations of the unit owners' association led to a negative response from the public. This legal regulation is rather complicated and inconsistent. The legislator made the attempt to resolve the imperfections in the legal regulations through several amendments of the flat ownership law; however, these amendments did not abrogate all the moot questions and many times brought other confusions into the legal regulations. I discuss the most important amendments mentioned above at the beginning of my thesis. The main body of the thesis focuses on the unit owners' association, whereby the law recognises this as a legal entity, which is according to the residential and non-residential ownership law eligible to practise law and commit to subjects related to administration, house operating, and repairs of the collective parts of the house only, eventually is eligible practice activities within the scope of the law and activities related to the collective parts of the...

Overview and comparison of Oracle database system administration tools
Chovítek, Jakub ; Macák, Petr (advisor) ; Buus, Martin (referee)
The aim of this work was to create an overview of applications suitable for the administration of Oracle database system and then to compare these applications. Another aim, which is directly linked to the previous, was to test these instruments in acts carried out by the database administrator. This work compares the tools from different aspects, such as graphic design, lucidity, functionality and price. Reader can make an idea of what tools can be used for administration of Oracle database system and how the different instruments work. If the reader is interested in the purchasing of such tools, this work can give him the recommendation based on the comparison.

Developing Web applications with regard to the specific needs of the contracting authority
Nývlt, David ; Sklenák, Vilém (advisor) ; Kosek, Jiří (referee)
Bachelor's thesis deals with development of web applications and is divided into 2 parts, the first one is theoretical and the other is practical. The theoretical part discusses about the history and todays status of web applications and web as a whole with a small view into the future. Another section deals with an architecture of web applications (modularity, database design, structure of storage, etc.). The last section of the first part describes elements which are needed for developing of web aplications, i.e. database, aplication server and programming language. Practical part describes the development of the reservation system based on Apache + PHP + PostgreSQL according to client's requirements. This section contains a list of requirements (for example need of domain registration, role definition for user access, etc.), practical instructions how to use the application (eventually how to pay attention to administration of database), information about how web application works from the perspective of the programmer (such as proces of including all modules into every page) and the content of the last sub-section is the procedure how to run the reservation system on a server.

Framework for teaching Database Management Systems on VŠE Praha
Turčín, Pavel ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Palovská, Helena (referee)
This thesis focuses on design and subsequent realization of e-learning support for the database management systems course. The first step is definition of the e-learning itself as well as other related concepts. Following part analyzes current status of teaching and evaluating students' knowledge and other possible ways to do so without changing the basic course frame defined by the given syllabus. A list of requirements on the software framework is made on basis of this analysis. These requirements are technical (demanded functionality) and economical (costs of installation and maintenance). The most suitable e-learning system is chosen according to these requirements. The chosen system unfortunately does not fulfill all specified requirements and software witch does, is not available. In this case the following step is design and realization of such software. At first are all requirements specified in detail. The software solution is designed as three independently usable applications: Exercise client, Test client and Administrator. Software is implemented in C# programming language. Whole process of implementation is divided into three increments witch corresponds with projected applications. Every increment adds new functionality to existing solution and the output of every increment is fully usable component.
