The Specifics of Financial Management of Holdings Companies
Ficbauer, David ; Bartoš, Vojtěch (referee) ; Hrvolová, Božena (referee) ; Král, Bohumil (referee) ; Režňáková, Mária (advisor)
The main purpose of the thesis is to explore the specifics of the financial management of holdings companies in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on the area of financial management. However, the author assumes that persistent reasons for holding creation is using of synergy effects consisting mainly of centralized management of cash flows to minimize the cost of capital and minimizing the risk of an individual investor who actively makes managerial functions in view guarantees of individual companies. It was found the lack of a comprehensive and systematic approach for a qualitative research. A total of 15 holding companies was use for the qualitative research. The outcome gives many answers concerning the specifics of the financial management of the holdings companies. It seems guarantee, minimizing cost of capital and cash management are key points. The synergistic effect of the holding companies can be used when transferring financial means between companies holding. The impact of the transfer of available financial means was simulated for holding No. 13. It was clearly shown to decrease WACC at one of the companies within the holding. It was found that the subsidiaries, which effectively control the cash flow, maintain a low level of Cash Ratio and Net Working Capital. It was also found that the subsidiaries that manage cash flow effectively, achieve higher ROA. The same assumption was not found in the parent companies. The research question that subsidiaries, which effectively control the cash flow, use financing through bank loans to a lesser extent, was partially confirmed.

Treating extraordinary situations connected with the leakage of dangerous harmful substances applied in the Brewery Eggenberg, a. s.
FUČÍK, Jaromír
The thesis treats the situation connected with the possible leakage of ammonia, applied in the Eggenberg a. s. brewery as cooling medium. It deals with the so-called worst variant of the accident {--} leakage of the maximum possible amount of the substance. The introduction is devoted to the legislation concerning the dangerous chemical substance, prevention of serious accidents, components of the integrated rescue system and the fire prevention. The thesis contains the characteristics and the description of ammonia as dangerous substance, with focus on its toxicity and it analyses the results of a possible leakage. For the simulation of a possible accident, the software instrument TerEx was applied. The calculations acquired after entering the input data into the program served for determination of the zone where the detrimental concentration of ammonia would reach in case of a leakage. In comparison with the original calculations performed in the last years applying the ROZEX programme, the zone with a harmful concentration would be substantially extended. The results of the thesis should be taken into consideration in the emergency plan of the region and in the emergency plan of the Eggenberg a. s., Brewery, however, also the procedure of the intervention of the integrated rescue system components shall be specified. Moreover the way of performing the inspections in the section of the fire protection in subjects applying, processing or storing dangerous chemical substances and preparations is drafted. The thesis tries to draw the attention to the fact that also a relatively small amount of a dangerous chemical substance may cause a considerably significant accident.

The topic will be divided into two parts {--} theoretical and practical ones {--} and a conclusion with an evaluation of the project. The theoretical part will include the basic data concerning developmental psychology together with a deeper insight into a period of adulthood and middle- and post-middle ages. It will be an outlook of a healthy population that deals with common situations of everyday life, with a period of their and their children´s maturity, with a choice of their first partner for life, with a departure of the partner and finally with their children´s leaving and arranging their own lives. My work will include some systematic procedures and casuistics among the selected clients. I will focuse on solving the common situations of everyday life in a Simulation studio together with an effort to approach a so called {\clqq}Healthy Rožnov Drawing``. The practical part will analyse the client´s work. In a conclusion I want to summarise my long-term activities with the above mentioned clients.

Simulace agregačního chování
Tomek, Jakub ; Brom, Cyril (advisor) ; Holan, Tomáš (referee)
Many breeds of cockroaches living in nature form aggregations. In this the- sis, we are looking for evolutionary advantages provided by the aggregation behavior. Because of the difficulty of testing evolutionary hypotheses on real cockroaches, we decided to use a multi-agent simulation instead. We present several models which test certain hypotheses coming from various areas of cock- roach life. Hypotheses on protection against predators, effective use of food from corpses of other cockroaches have been confirmed. Also, we provide an explana- tion of cannibalism among cockroaches. On the other hand, certain hypotheses were rejected, for example, the hypothesis concerning effective use of feces of other cockroaches. Our results may be used in further research on cockroach behavior. Furthermore, since aggregation as a general process appears in other areas of natural sciences, it is possible to use our results in them as well. 1

Numerical modelling of water content and pressure head relations of a capillary barrier
Trpkošová, Dagmar ; Mls, Jiří (advisor) ; Wohnlich, Stefan (referee) ; Schoenherr, Jürgen (referee)
1 Charles University in Prague Faculty of Science Institute of Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology and Applied Geophysics Numerical modelling of pressure and runoff conditions of a capillary barrier Summary of PhD Thesis Dagmar Trpkošová May 2010 2 Abstract The closing of landfills is a very topical issue in Europe, with many European countries already scheduling the end of waste disposal at these sites (Biele, 2007). A capillary barrier is one option for surface closure of landfills. For covering landfills of municipal waste, European regulations require that surface sealing for class 2 waste be made up of two independent components. In most cases, this is satisfied by the combination of an artificial and a mineral sealing. The next development stage of the capillary barrier is the combined capillary barrier (Wohnlich, 2006a), intended as an alternative to conventional combined sealing. Prof. Dr. Stefan Wohnlich and his team at Ruhr-University Bochum undertook a series of laboratory experiments simulating capillary barriers in a tipping trough. The German association LAGA was made aware of the conducted research. The research should be focused on the combined capillary barrier and should particularly answer questions concerning the pressure and runoff condition of a combined capillary barrier. During my...

Dehalogenation of Polychlorinated Biphenyls
Bureš, M. ; Pekárek, Vladimír
This work deals with the determination of the thermodynamic stability of di- to nona-chlorinated biphenyls during the dehalogenation process of these compounds in the gas phase by steam in presence of solid copper. The aim of this study is a preliminary calculation of chemical equilibrium in this dehalogenation process, which can be compared with the measured kinetics data, obtained during simulation of the technologic process. The work is connected with our previous studies, carried out with dehalogenation of polychlorinated benzenes and polychlorinated phenols.

Modification the block IS/ICT Project Management by the risk management
Kocman, Martin ; Chocholatý, Drahomír (advisor) ; Hausmann, Oto (referee)
The aim of this thesis is modification of the teaching block IS/ICT Project Management at the Department of Information Technologies of the Prague University of Economics by the risk management issues. At present, insufficient space is given to this topic and this may thus create the feeling with the students that this is a marginal issue in the project management. The theoretical starting points to this thesis are above all the PMBOK methodologies of the PMI organization and further the PRINCE2 of the OGD organization. As these are the internationally acknowledged IT project management standards, therefore the key significance is given to them as to the theoretical starting points. Naturally, the part of these methodologies related to the project management is utilized of them. To sketch in the point of view of the issue, the RIPRAN methodology is added that is of Czech origin and was developed by doc. Ing. Branislav Lacko of the Brno University of Technology. This methodology deals only with the risk management. The own new point of view of the risk management that comes out from the above-mentioned theoretical presumptions is divided into following parts: planning, identification, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, project simulation, evaluation. As the primary utilization of this thesis is for the students of the Prague University of Economics, namely above all for the students of the given course, this fact is taken into account also in the course of work with the risks. This means, among others, that it is not possible to implement the project according to the plan, and thus simulation tools are utilized for its implementation. All aspects coming out from this school environment have been included in the thesis. A tool in MS EXCEL table editor has been developed for the work with the risks where all steps of the risk management are carried out, namely including the data for subsequent creation of the outputs -- reports, analyses, etc. An advantage of this environment is the possibility of its utilization for automatic procedures. Full use of this characteristic has been made in the tool.
