Šplíchal, Marek ; Sekera, Martin (advisor) ; Holomek, Ondřej (referee)
Focus The Bachelor of Arts Thesis "Probe into a Type of Czechoslovak Factory Magazines in 1945-48" observes the development of this specific type of printed media in the environment of industrial companies silhouetted against the revolutionary social climate of Czechoslovakia after WWII until the assumption of power by the Czechoslovak Communist Party in February 1948 or until the end of 1948. The thesis is divided in two parts - a theoretical part and a research part. The theoretical part deals with the establishment and development of a theoretical framework of factory magazines in the given social context and treats the magazines' cohesion with mass media. The thesis also concentrates on the practice of publishing the factory magazines which involved especially the setting of the organisation of their publishing. The practical part of the thesis is a probe into the contents and formal structure of factory magazine Ventil ("Valve") in the treated period of time, published by the car factory Automobilové závody Škoda. The thesis describes contents' units with their internal subject division and possible communication effects, divided by years, This part of the thesis also includes a review of permanent columns of the magazine divided by individual annual volumes. The thesis attempts to draft another...

Determination of selected perfluoroalkyl compounds in complex matrices
Ondreášová, Klára ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Mgr. Petra Kosubová, Ph.D (advisor)
Diploma work focuses on the determination of selected representatives of perfluoroalkyl substances in complex matrices, particularly, in sewage sludge and feed. In case of sewage sludge, samples were extracted into methanol and three extractions techniques were compared: accelerated Soxhlet, pressurized liquid extraction and Powley method. Powley method showed sufficient efficiency, the lowest matrix effect and minimal background. Perfluorooctane sulfonate was present in all tested samples of sewage sludge (0.74–38.02 ng.g-1). Other detected compounds were perfluorodecanoic acid and perfluorooctanoic acid. Three extraction techniques were tested on feed samples (QuEChERS, fast methanol extraction and Powley method into acetonitrile). Powley method provided the cleanest extracts and showed simultaneously the highest recovery of native perfluoroalkyl substances and the lowest matrix effects. Perfluorooctane sulfonate and perfluorooctanoic acid were rarely present in samples of complete and supplemental feeds, while other perfluoroalkyl substances were found at levels below limit of quantification or they were not detected at all. Perfluorooctane sulfonate (0.100–2.768 ng.g-1), perfluoroundecanoic acid and perfluorotridecanoic acid were determined in all fish meal samples.

Lifestyle and social capital "active young generation".
Bajerová, Kateřina ; Šafr, Jiří (advisor) ; Soukup, Petr (referee)
Diploma thesis "Lifestyle and Social Capital 'active young generation'" discusses the background of the relevant theoretical anchor, the two dimensions of individual life in society - the lifestyle that is in this work conceived as a space for identity formation (through the dimension of consumerism) and it operationalize the concept of leisure sports and related sportive activities, the second dimension is the theme of social capital, in accordance with its structural components (egocentric individual networks) and cultural aspects (defined by degree of tolerance and social trust ). The aim of this work is through the empirical sociological analysis of representative survey ISSP 2007 Volný cas a sport and Distinkce a hodnoty 2008, map to the active lifestyle of the individual in its socio-demographic and socio-economic determinants, monitors the process of sport socialization within the family and close friends and value preferences and orientation, the which may be active in leisure sports potential impact. In conclusion, this work deals with effects of sports on the components of social capital.

Tax reform in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in view of flat tax
Formánek, Jan ; Zeman, Karel (advisor) ; Krebs, Vojtěch (referee)
The bachelor thesis will be aimed to analyze the tax systems in the Czech Republic and Slovakia before tax reforms as well as after them. I chose this topic because of its recency and personal interest. First, theoretical part of the thesis will be a general outline of tax problems, will define taxes in historical and contemporary view and also overview of legislative background of tax systems. After that I'm going to focus on tax systems which were functional in both countries mentioned above including their mutual comparison. In the analytical part I will focus on reforms themselves, their results in legislative plane. That will be followed by numeric comparison aimed on revenues and expenditures of the state and impacts against tax-payers -- individuals. Not only financial but review non-financial impacts like simplification of the system. In the last part I'm going to figure out hypotetical analysis of impacts of the "Modrá šance", if it was accepted in original proposal. The objective of the thesis is to impartially compare positive and negative effects of tax reforms, which were realized in countries stated above.

Privatization through FDI in the Czech Republic: Effects of Privatization Properties on the Companies' Performances
Nachtigall, Jakub ; Geršl, Adam (advisor) ; Kolouchová, Petra (referee)
This thesis is focused on the large scale privatization in the Czech Republic. It brings the real values of investment into the discussion of direct effects of FDI. A unique dataset obtained in the archive of the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic allows us to employ other interesting properties of the privatization in the comparison of the performance of the FDI recipients during the 1997- 98 crisis. A synthetic method approach is used to estimate the most similar competitor of each FDI recipient and control for different situations the MNE affiliates were prior the crisis. The thesis has also a historical contribution as it discusses some yet unknown features of the privatization through FDI during the large scale privatization. Further, the underlying theory of FDI, FDI flows into the Czech Republic, the Czech privatization process and macroeconomic background are described. Studium kinematiky rozpadů top-antitopových párů v experimentu Atlas
Berta, Peter ; Kvita, Jiří (advisor) ; Soustružník, Karel (referee)
In this thesis, I deal with the measurement of the transverse momentum spectrum of the top quark produced in top-antitop pairs at the LHC at center of mass energy 7 TeV. The analysis is carried out within the ATLAS collaboration. In the single lepton decay channel, I have performed studies on the simulation which were necessary to obtain the final spectrum from real data. I describe basic event selection rules to reduce background events. I study the efficiency of top-antitop pairs reconstruction. I study the unfolding of the measured spectrum which corrects for effects caused by imperfect resolutions. At the end, I show the measured top quark transverse momentum spectrum obtained from my analysis.

Economic development of China and its impacts on the relations in the global economy
Erbenová, Monika ; Bič, Josef (advisor) ; Pavlík, Petr (referee)
The Chinese economy has experienced a sharp rise in recent decades, which is accompanied by strengthening China's position in the global economy. The theme of this thesis is the evaluation of China's economic development. Its effects are illustrated in the examples of involvement of the Chinese economy into the international economic system. The work aims at summarizing the development aspects and opportunities of China and highlights the strong influence of Chinese economic development on the relations in the global economy. In the first chapter there is a space devoted to the theoretical definition of the economic development and its place within the concept of development in the general sense. The position of developing countries in the world economy is summarized as well. Next part of the thesis deals with characteristics of the Chinese economic growth. Key aspect is opening of the Chinese market to the international trade and to foreign direct investments. Considerable space is also devoted to development issues in the social field, which are crucial for increasing the prosperity of the Chinese population. The final part of the thesis points out the economic implications of China's development on relations in the global economy. Emphasis is placed especially on the impact on developing regions. It also investigates the impact of China's membership and its increasing activity in the international organizations and within regional integrations.

High mobility two-dimensional electron gas in CdTe quantum wells:High magnetic field studies
Kunc, Jan ; Grill, Roman (advisor) ; Smrčka, Ludvík (referee) ; Knap, Wojciech (referee)
KurHigh mobility two-dimensional electron gas in CdTe quantum wells: High magnetic field studies Experimental studies of two-dimensional electron gases confined in CdTe and CdMnTe quantum wells are presented. The data analysis is supported by numerical calcula- tions of the band structure of confined states, using the local density and envelope func- tion approximations. Four by four, k.p calculations have been performed to justify the parabolic approximation of valence bands. Samples were characterized by Raman scatter- ing spectroscopy and far infrared cyclotron resonance absorption measurements. Low-field magneto-transport shows the dominant contribution of the semi-classical Drude conduc- tivity and three orders of magnitude weaker contributions of weak localization, electron- electron interaction and Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations. The contribution of electron- electron interactions is explained within a semi-classical model of circling electrons. The shape of Landau levels, broadening, transport and quantum lifetimes and dominant long- range scattering mechanism have been determined. High-field magneto-transport displays fractional quantum Hall states at Landau levels N = 0 and N = 1. The ground states 5/3 and 4/3 have been determined to be fully spin polarized, in agreement with the approach of composite...
