Eliminator of dental calculus
Šobich, Adam ; Sekora, Jiří (referee) ; Rozman, Jiří (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis is focused on system design of eliminator of dental calculus operating at a frequency of 27 kHz and reaching the intensity of ultrasound on the applicator tip to 5 W/cm2. The work analyzes problems of dental calculus, principle of ultrasonic waves and the physical phenomena occurring in the environment, which it passes. Another part of the work describes the creation of waves using ultrasonic transducer and the amplification of ultrasound in the waveguide. Practical part of work is presented by functional diagram, which describes the sequence and function of the main parts of the device. The Bachelor’s thesis presents individual steps for design of applicator and the circuit for eliminator of dental calculus, including calculations and diagrams. The resulting circuit is experimentally verified and supplemented with draft of the printed circuit board.

Comparison of the level of dental hygiene between men and women aged 20 - 30 years
KLÍMOVÁ, Leontýna
This bachelor's thesis was divided into two main parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part dealt with the field of dental hygiene from its inception to present day practises. Next it conducts research into diseases of oral cavities, dental aids, and mainly with the prevention of oral cavities. The practical part reported on the research of differences in dental hygiene between men and women, with 100 respondents aged 20 - 30 years. The research looked at the respondents' experience with dental hygiene and evaluated the differences in men and woman's dental hygiene accordingly. The resulting answers of the respondents were evaluated and recorded in graphs and tables.
The influence of professional treatment by a dental hygienist on oral health
DRBALOVÁ, Gabriela
The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate that consistent professional dental care is crucial for improving overall oral hygiene. Theoretical part of this thesis focuses on the topics of history of dental hygiene, the issue of dental diseases such as dental caries, gingivitis or paradontitis. Furthermore, the thesis describes the most common tasks the dental hygienist is supposed to do. Finally, the end of theoretical part is dedicated to the positive affection of fluoride tools on improving the health of oral cavity and to the importance of general prevention in dentistry. In the practical part of this thesis the attention is paid to professional educating of a group of subjects in the dental hygienist's office within the horizon of six months. During both input and output examinations the subjects have been instructed on the topics of proper care of their oral cavities. Next, their tooth plaque and tartar have been removed and they have been examined according to the PBI a CPITN indexes which were to evaluate the level of the subjects' cavities. Then the results were evaluated and registered into graphs tables. The results prove beyond all the reasonable doubt the professional dental care is highly influential on the overall health of subjects' oral cavities.
Non randomised selection of a group of dental patients, a study of relations between risk factors and the state of dental health.
Nekůžová, Dora ; Ehler, Edvard (advisor) ; Přívratský, Vladimír (referee)
In my thesis I focused on the relationship between the influence of risk factors and the dental health status. The evaluation of the results was made on the basis of testing and verification of the set hypotheses, using my own graphs and statistical evaluation (in the program Statistica 6.0). For the research I used the data of 613 dental patients. I could draw these data from the provided file of their medical cards. The study is divided into the theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part I focused on the anatomical structure of teeth, on dental caries, dental stone, and their creation and prevention. A large part of my work is dedicated to disease of the oral cavity and its hygiene. In this section I deal with various types of periodontal diseases (chronica of gingivitis, periodontitis) and their prevention. The practical part deals with the hypotheses themselves. I set seven hypotheses. The set hypotheses focus on risk factors, namely sex, residence, age, oral hygiene, frequency of preventive medical examinations, and illnesses which the patients suffer from. I evaluated the influence of these risk factors with regard to the cariosity and overall dental health of the dental patients. The results show that there is a difference in the state of the dental health according to the gender (the...
Dental Prophylaxis in Dogs
Franeková, Tereza ; Karlasová, Barbora (advisor) ; Marcela, Marcela (referee)
The thesis explores the canine oral cavity, namely, the teeth and the most common dental diseases. Dental injury and disease in dogs is a topic of growing interest in veterinary science. The theoretical section discusses the anatomy of the head, oral cavity and teeth. It presents general knowledge of veterinary dentistry and a list of the most common oral cavity diseases. The practical section explores the suitability and the effectiveness of two prevention methods against the build-up of dental plaque, respectively, against the spread of periodontitis. Diseases affecting the periodontium are increasingly common in dogs; they are deemed to be the most frequent diseases affecting small animals above five years of age. There are two most common periodontal diseases. The first, gingivitis, is a reversible inflammation of the gum. The second, periodontitis, is essentially irreversible without specialized treatment and often leads to loss of teeth. The major criterion for maintaining a healthy oral cavity is prevention. Therefore, two methods of home-based prevention are compared in the practical part of the thesis. First, all patients underwent a full-scale dental treatment in a veterinary centre, that is, a comprehensive ultrasonic cleaning and polishing with dental cleaning paste. Then, ascophyllum nodosum, a seaweed also known as Norwegian kelp, was mixed within the daily food ration of half of the patients. In this way, the teeth were being cleaned passively. The second half of the patients had their teeth cleaned with Orozyme, an enzyme-formula oral hygiene gel for dogs, and this way an active teeth cleaning method was explored. Six weeks after the initial dental treatment, a dental plaque identification test was carried out in a veterinary centre. Statistical analysis of the resulting data did not signal substantial differences between the treatment with Norwegian kelp and that of using the oral gel. A combination of the two techniques is, therefore, recommended as the best prevention strategy against plaque build-up.
