Regional NGOs' umbrella association as a role model of cooperation between civic sector and public administration

The objective of this thesis is to discuss regional NGOs' umbrella associations and to explore their part as a role model of cooperation between civic sector and public administration while using qualitative research methods. Against the backdrop of a case study of specific NGO association, this paper examines to what extent may activities of such association contribute to a standardized cooperation with public administration. The theoretical basis of the research is defining the state and the civic sector as regulators of democratic societies. Its primary focus is on areas with significant influence on the subject, namely and in particular the topic of regional (self)government and NGOs' umbrella assocations in the Czech Republic.
Expert capacity of civil sector: Focus on the NGO umbrella organization in the CR

The expert capacity of umbrella NGOs is not adequately addressed in the literature, although it is a key issue. This issue is pointing to the growing demands for accountable and transparent organizations with the expertise needed in the form of professionals who can actively promote the importance and interests of NGOs in a public policy process. Expert capacity is described in this case as the ability to perform analytical work in selected umbrella NGOs which focus on advocating interests and influencing the policy process. The aim of this work is to understand the expert capacity of the umbrella platforms of NGOs in advocating their interests and their influence on policy making and to outline the possibility of more effective cooperation with the state. For this purpose were chosen all-state national umbrella platforms, which defend the interests of organizations throughout the Czech Republic. Advantages and disadvantages of membership of organizations in the Czech Association for Rare Diseases (CAVO)

In my work, I want to focus on the perceived advantages and disadvantages of membership in the umbrella organization. This topic, I will discuss from the perspectives of the member organizations. This is a specific segment associations - the patient organizations focused to patients with rare diseases. It is clear that cooperation in the umbrella organization brings advantages, but it is probable that it can also bring some disadvantages. For my work I choose the Czech Association for rare diseases. In the Czech Republic is the only organization in the civil sector, focusing exclusively on rare diseases. The goal of the master thesis is to find out the perceived advantages and disadvantages, and how it is related to the level of activity of members of the umbrella organization. Further, I want to compare the data with the theoretical literature in order that differs. Theme of umbrella in the Czech Republic is almost unexplored. There are only a few expert papers in this area. That's why I decided to focus on cooperation in civil sector (organization focus on rare diseases), which is relatively unknown. There is no doubt that civil society organizations play an important role in the regional development. One of the inner factors of the regional development potential and the tool to ensuring the quality and sustainability of the implemented measures is the cooperation and partnership between the civil and public sector entities. The cooperation and parthership should be strenghtened by the inner organization of civil sector into the ubrella organizations and by the provision of their services. In this diploma thesis is realized the quantitative research which is focused on the fact what is the role of regional umbrella organization in the setting of cooperation and partnership with the regional government.
