Child with disabilities in foster care

Abstract UHLÍŘOVÁ, Markéta. 'Child with Disabilities in Foster Care'. Prague : Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, 2011. 140 pp. Graduation Thesis. In the opening chapters of the thesis entitled 'Child with Disabilities in Foster Care' are defined basic concepts relating to disability issues and there are also outlined options of care for a child with disabilities and their families. More text in detail deals with foster care, defines the essential functions of the family and describes various forms of foster care, which are applied to provide care for orphaned children socially in the Czech Republic. The main part of work deals with foster care, its history and particular types, given the current state of implementation of foster care in the Czech republic and discusses the process of mediation foster care with regard to the child with disabilities. The survey based on analysis of interviews with the famaliare experience, that has accumulated during their life foster-mothers, who take care to children with disabilities. The work is concluded by an evaluation of lessons learned and outlining ways on how to use them for those, who think about implement of the foster care and they would be willing to accept a child with disabilities.
Visitors' care - advantages and disadvantages

The baccalaureate report is focused on a new developing type of adoption and foster care - visitors' care. In theoretic part visitors' care is introduced as a one of the possibilities how to let children from children's home know family life and function of common family. In this part, there are named reasons of taking children away from their own biological family and the ways of working with those children. Visitors' care is introduced in the system adoption and foster care. Then the report treats about what conditions on an applicant of visitors' care are and what children can be included in this type of care and moreover, how should this care be realized. Because this report is concerned on possibilities of satisfying of psychological needs at visitors' care and advantages and disadvantages which visitors' care brings, one of the chapters is focused on theory of the basic psychological needs by Matějček and Langmeier. Practical part concerned on three sights on visitors' care and its evaluation including mentioned aspects. Those three sights come from interviews conducted with directors of children's homes and workers of Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children; and from questionnaires filled in by the visitors. Psychological deprivation in old age. Effort to apply developmental psychological theory of Josef Langmeier and Zdeněk Matějček.

The thesis is focused on problematics of psychological deprivation in childhood and in old age. Theoretical part reflects Langmeier/Matějček theory of psychological deprivation in childhood, old age and the problematics in terms of philosophy of education. The practical part is and effort to apply developmental psychological theory in childhood to the period of old age. In conclusion the valid assumptions are formed. Those justify to formulate the hypotheses about the analogy between the psychological deprivation in childhood and in old age and the possibilities of education for their prevention and remedy, as materials for the qualitative research. Its outcomes could result in improving the current model of institutional care of the elderly persons and validate legitimacy of the pedagogical accompaniment in the stages of their way of life and so far unappreciated importance of existentialist conception of education.
Mental Neglect Hazard Factors of Children Who Live in Their Own Families

The thesis deals with the family in the context of children's psychical neglect, especially with the risk parents and risk children as the main hazard factors. In the end of the theoretical part are defined long term risk situations as one of the possible hazard factors of psychical neglect. The practical part contents results of fully oficial document's analysis worked out by the Children Protection Social-Legal Section of Social Affairs Department of Municipal Office in Prachatice. As the hazard factors of psychical neglect, prematureness, cephalonia and minimal brain dysfunction occur in children registered on file of the Social Affairs Department. Especially emotional deprivation of mothers and mental allienation of fathers were detected in their parents as the main hazard factors. In addition it were one parent's alcoholism and a lack of time for children of the mother. The majority of these children likewise is mentally and physically abused.
