Rankin cycle for waste heat recovery of internal combustion engines
Kučinský, Josef ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Brázdil, Marian (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with Rankine cycle as a method of waste heat recovery for internal combustion engine. Firstly, internal combustion engine and some technologies on waste heat recovery are described simply. Secondly, Rankine cycle and its utilization in automobiles are overviewed. At the end, there are summarized results from simulations and experiments regarding the issue. It was stated in a conclusion that in case of waste heat recovery in automobile, Rankine cycle is a promising technology but it is not ready for wide application yet.
Economy building refrigeration systems
Kohút, Radovan ; Formánek,, Marian (referee) ; Rubinová, Olga (advisor)
The thesis deals with the refrigeration systems. It analyzes ways to optimize the refrigeration process and the associated energy savings. In a practical application on an industrial building where there is the need of cooling the machinery, it compares the reference system with another two optimized alternatives. The heat recovery alternative supports heating and hot water supply and the water-side free cooling alternative lowers the energy consumption during the cold period of the year. The experimental section assesses the suitability of floor cooling in relation to the stratification of air temperature along the height of the room and the effect on thermal comfort of people.
Heat pump system for waste heat utilization
Toman, Filip ; Hejčík, Jiří (referee) ; Bobák, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is determination of the configurations and parameters of the system for heat recovery from waste water from washing machines with a heat pump. The first part of the thesis deals with the principle and construction of heat pumps and the use of heat from waste water. The second part of the thesis deals with the construction of the system for preheating of clear water which flows to washing machines. The main section of the second part of the thesis is the design of the heat pump with evaluation of the proposed solution.

Final report of the project Effective use of waste heat reg. No. CZ.07.1.02 / 0.0 / 0.0 / 16_040 / 0000384 implemented within the call No. 24 OP PPR, technology 1, mobile sources of waste heat.

The aim of the project was to verify the possibility of using thermoelectric generators (TEG) to produce electricity from waste heat, which is produced by fossil fuel combustion in vehicles. Regarding the character of the public transport cycle and based on consultations and exploring experimental testing, we have focused on the possible improvement of the utilization of the energy that is produced by independent heater (IT) in order to at least partially cover the electric consumption needed for the running of the IT. During the operation of the IT in the bus, approximately 360 W of electricity is taken from the bus's electrical system, which is needed to drive the circulation pump, the heating fans and the IT control electronics.\n

The aim of the project was to use the waste thermal energy of flue gases or hot steam to produce electricity through thermoelectric generators (TEG). The local production of electricity at the place of its consumption will enable, for example, power source of autonomous sensors, including wireless transmission of necessary information to the control center or power source of safety lights, without installation of the electric cables from the distant power source, which is sometimes technologically difficult. Another specific possible utilization was aimed at the replacement of disposable batteries, which supply the necessary sensors and at the same time serve for sending data to the control center, which is energy demanding.\n
