Czech large carnivores in the science education
NOVOTNÁ, Karolína
This bachelor's thesis is focused on the topic "Large carnivores in the Czech Republic in the teaching of biology". The first part of the thesis is focused on the occurrence and importance of large carnivores in the Czech Republic. The next chapter deals with how biology teachers at primary and secondary education in our country deal with the topic and the embedding of the topic in RVP, ŠVP and other educational programs in Czechia. The aim of this work is to verify research questions on how primary and secondary school biology teachers in the Czech Republic teach this topic using a questionnaire distributed to the largest possible number of science teachers.
Protection of large carnivorans in the EU legislation and national legislations of Europe
Djemel, Klára ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (referee)
Protection of large carnivorans in the EU legislation and national legislations of Europe Abstract Large carnivorans, including the brown bear (Ursus arctos), the lynx (Lynx lynx) and the wolf (Canis lupus), have become nearly extinct in Central Europe in the past and have only returned to our wilderness in recent decades. The return of large carnivorans is therefore responded to by the legal systems of the countries concerned, as well as public international law and European Union law. The reasons for the special protection and legal regime of large carnivorans stem mainly from their biological differences, way of life, potential conflict with humans and higher levels of endangerment. The aim of this work is to conduct a thorough analysis of the legal protection of large carnivorans on an international, European and national scale. The protection of large carnivorans cannot be effectively addressed within the territory of a single European state, as carnivorans, especially in Central Europe, normally cross national borders. Great attention is therefore paid to EU law, which provides the basis for the legal protection of large carnivorans in most European countries. From the national legal systems of Europe, the legal systems of the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany...

Velké šelmy na Moravě a jejich vliv na chov hospodářských zvířat
Dzurja, Jan
This work brings an overview of the informations about an occurrence of the large carnivores in our country. Except data from the Czech republic, I have tried to mention a knowledge from the foreign authors about the occurrence of the large carnivores in other european countries. Among other things I have been dealing with a food preferences of the large carnivores in a relation to a livestock. I also focused on the damages done by the large carnivores to the livestock at recent time in the Czech republic and abroad. I have evaluated an influence of the large carnivores to a livestock farming and I mentioned the preventive measures which could reduce the damages done by the large carnivores to the livestock. I have used a lot of czech and foreign professional literature to obtain the necessary informations. To these informations I have added the acquired data from my field monitoring and from my questionnaire. I have found that the large carnivores gradually comes back to a central Europe and to the Czech republic too. With their return there is an increase of the damages in the livestock farming. However in our country these damages are not so high for now. With right use of the preventive measures these damages could be even lower. Unfortunately some farmers do not want to implement the preventive measures even it is dotaded by a state. The farmers have various reasons but certainly there is always especially a problem with a complexity of the process leading to the dotation. The acquired data and the knowledge lead to the clear conclusion. There is a need to educate the farmers and a public about the large carnivores problematics. Also a simplification of the process of getting the dotation on the preventive measures could be helpfull.
Biogeografické aspekty ohrožení a ochrany velkých šelem ve výuce na základních školách
BĚLE, Šimon
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of biogeographic aspects of the distribution and conservation of the large carnivores in the education on the 2nd grade of primary school. The main goal of this thesis is to evaluate the quantity of information about the topic of danger and protection of the large carnivores on the 2nd grade of primary school and the extracurricular education. The theoretical part describes representative species of carnivores and curricular documents of the Czech Republic. These are namely the Framework Education Programme for Primary Education and the School Educational Programmes of Josef Kajetán Tyl's Primary School and Edvard Beneš's Primary School in Písek and Mikulova Primary School in Prague. The thesis includes the research of schoolbooks for geography and biology on the primary school and educational programmes of zoos in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The author arranged a pilot questioning for the pupils of 6th and 9th class at Josef Kajetán Tyl's primary school and Mikulova primary school in Prague. The last part of the thesis is suggested possibilities for broadening the education on the 2nd grade of primary school.
Výskyt velkých šelem ve vybraných oblastech moravských a slovenských Západních Karpat
Greguš, Štefan
The research The occurance of large carnivores in areas of Moravian and Slovak Western Carpathians focused on field study of carnivores European brown bear Ursus arctos, gray wolf Canis lupus and Eurasian lynx Lynx lynx in Velká and Malá Fatra (Slovakia). The study was held from August 2014 till February 2016. During 23 field control were identified 12 presence traits or evidences from all three species. Apparently, there are 10 individuals of wolf, 73 bears and probably 13 individuals of lynx in Velká Fatra. Between 5 and 8 wolfs, 8 individuals of lynx and probably 65 bears in Malá Fatra.
Reintroduction of giant carnivores in Europe
Říhová, Žofie ; Hofmanová, Barbora (advisor) ; Čapková, Zuzana (referee)
The goal of bachelors thesis on the topic of Reintroduction of Large Carnivores in Europe is to describe current situation in the Czech Republic and other European countries in the matter of occurrence of such animals in comparison to their population in the past. These lands are home to large carnivores such as Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx), Gray Wolf (Canis lupus) and Brown Bear (Ursus arctos). Furthermore, it is focused on the influence of human activity on the areas of migration of large carnivores. It contains description of the environment and the major causes of reduction in numbers, mentioning the possibilities of protection of their population and options for their return in to wilderness. The thesis includes current success rate of the reintroduction and future goals of the reintroduction programs in the Czech Republic and neighboring European countries. Next chapter explains the problematic landscape fragmentation and highlights the importance of preservation of the landscape connectivity, mainly its penetrability. Both topics are crucial factors in conservation and sustainability of large carnivore populations. Moreover, it defines locations of the most important migratory corridors in the Czech Republic and their connection to the neighboring states. Procedure to locate these corridors leads to a description of possible biomonitoring methods of the mentioned species based on the occurrence of their footprints, excrements, territory markings and prey remains. Lastly, the thesis describes the creation of habitat models of large carnivores together with step-by-step instructions. Habitat models serve to determine locations suitable for permanent or temporary residence of examined species, consequently making the selection of the acceptable areas for their reintroduction easier. Resulting models for Czech Republic and neighboring countries can be found in the appendix.
