Mlčková, Kateřina ; Havlová, Radka (advisor) ; Kochan, Jan (referee)
Media can have an enormous influence on its audience. They can suggest what and how we will think about something. Moreover people tend to joining groups and to share their opinions, so the minority opinions are slightly disappearing. As the media have this power, it isn't difficult to abuse them. The media in Rwanda were abused for extremist propaganda against Tutsi and moderate Hutu. Magazine Kangura was misused for racist brainwashing during civil war between 1990 and 1993. Radio broadcasting RTLM was effective way of organising genocide and provoking racial hatred in 1994 in Rwanda. On the other hand, the international press didn't inform correctly about what was going on in Rwanda. As a consequence, there wasn't such a high priority on solving somehow conflict in Rwanda.

In the first chapter the author describes the main events of the Jewish minority life in the protectorate. Jews had lost all their personal rights and discrimination in this regard was almost unbearable. German Nazism developed and at the same time realized "final solution" of the Jewish question. This term signified euphemistic name for the physical extermination of the Jewish nation. The second chapter devotes to the analysis of the press. The most important part of the whole thesis introduces three collaborationist periodicals from protectorate, which were chosen by author. They are called: Zteč (Assault), Árijský boj (Arya fight) and Národní politika (National politics). Construction of the Terezin concentration camp and subsequent life in it describes the last and the third chapter. This ghetto meant an important part of the whole Jewish question and its solution. Although the transports to eastern areas took place here, some Jews arranged better life through cultural activities and illegal educational activities. Šimečková, Barbora ; Kozmanová, Irena (advisor) ; Szobi, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor thesis analyses the theory and practice of socialistic advertising in the 70s and 80s od the 20th century in Czechoslovakia. The first part is based on current theories of advertising -- it analysis on the basis of of contemporary theoretical literature (textbooks for students of the Faculty of Journalism at Charles University in Prague, the magazin "Propagace") with theoretical approaches to advertising in the 70s and 80s of the last century in Czechoslovakia. The thesis states that the role of advertising in terms of a centrally planned economy differed from today's concept of particular ideological aspects including the use of censorship. On the contrary, similar to the principles on which the adverisement was created (the meaning of the target groups, advertising surveys, etc.). The second part of the thesis deals with the role of socialistic advertising on the example of production of television and print ads -- it monitors phases of promotional process, from the contracting authority, through implementer to the recipient and his feedback, especially on the bases of archive materials of "Czechoslovak television" and interviews with survivors of the state enterprise Merkur. The thesis shows that advertising should be primaly informational in nature of socialism, but it also refutes some myths about failure and inefficiency of socialistic ads.
The Presentation of Death and Dying in The Media and The Influence of The Presentation on The Process of Forming The Attitude towards Death
KADLECOVÁ, Hana
The thesis deals with mass media and the way they treat the presentation of death and dying. Trying to find an answer to the question of whether mass media can have an impact on changing attitudes of contemporary human being to death and dying. The thesis is divided into nine parts. The first four sections form the theoretical framework and characterize today's postmodern society, typical features of contemporary human being ?s behavior, his/her perception of the world and themselfves, the influ nce of education, culture and beliefs. The thesis also deals with the position of mass media in postmodern society, and briefly describes current research on the influence of mass media on people. It mentions the most common dividing of mass media technologies into television, radio, print and the Internet. On this theoretical framework is consequently based the analysis of the presentation of death and dying in various types of media - this part of the thesis is more practically oriented and is complemented by a number of pictorial material. It tries to capture the most significant features of the presentation of death and dying on TV (news, film, advertising) and radio (news and some opinion programs), in the broadsheets and tabloids as well as on internet news, blogs and social networks and also in internet advertising. The thesis concludes that the current mass media are nearly oversaturated with the death and dy ng topic, making the viewer (reader, listener) apathetic and easily accustomed to continuously increasing greater violence. Death pictured by media is unnatural and often violent, in which significantly collides with the lived reality. Media cause devaluation of death and lower its importance, which causes declining empathy towards the diseased and dying as well as the absence of respect for the deceased.
