Social entrepreneurship Abstract Social entrepreneurship is a new way of providing social support that is increasingly gaining popularity. Social enterprises are popular initiatives that use market mechanisms to finance their goals that are beneficial to society. The aim of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship, both its international roots for creating necessary context and especially its Czech form. It develops its topic into three thematic areas. The first one focuses on defining basic terminology of the field including the term social entrepreneurship itself, but also other terms such as social economy or third sector. It also introduces the basic conceptions of social entrepreneurship, namely European one and American one, while due to the greater relevance for Czech social entrepreneurship, more emphasis is placed on the European concept of social entrepreneurship. Social Value and its Measurement in the Third Sector
Konov, Jaroslava ; Dohnalová, Marie (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee) ; Průša, Ladislav (referee)
The research "Social value and its measurement in the third sector" is focused on measuring the social value of social enterprises, which form part of the conceptual framework of the third sector. Social enterprises currently face the challenge of assessing and measuring social value (social impact). Demonstrating social value is required by many stakeholders, including social enterprises themselves. There are many approaches to measuring social value, but none has been widely adopted, and the field is characterized by methodological pluralism. In the Czech Republic, the area of social value measurement in the third sector is still under-researched, despite the current political and economic climate, where stakeholder demands for indicators that can capture the performance of organizations are increasing. As in other countries, there is no uniformly accepted tool for measuring social value or social impact. The main objective of the research, which is divided into two sub-research "Measuring the social value of social enterprises" and "Longitudinal study", is to measure the social value of social enterprises in the Czech Republic and to perform their mutual comparison (benchmarking). The sub-goals are to monitor the development of measurements and changes in the social value of a selected social...

Pilátová, Soňa ; Cejp, Martin (advisor) ; Frič, Pavol (referee)
Criminal recidivism rate has been increasing till 1990 in the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is also on one of the leading positions in the prison population index list of countries. These two indicators should work as a red alert for us that our justice policies and the system of criminal prevention do not work effectively in the long run. We consider it important then that the increased attention should be paid to the whole system, the programs should be evaluated and the weak spots should be identified. Hence in this work we are looking at the topic form the structural-functional perspective. Using stakeholder analysis methods we identify the key actors of the field. The actors are divided into three basic sectors: governmental sector, market and the third sector. We then focus on the third sector and its' role in the penitentiary and post-release care with special attention to the relations and connections with the governmental sector. The weak spots and the examples of successful cooperation of the two sectors are explored with the tools of the social network analysis. The research results into the functional analysis of the role of the non-profit organizations in the field. Key findings of the research are formulated into the recommendations for stakeholder from both the third and the...

Votavová, Vladimíra ; Svoboda, Karel (advisor) ; Kolenovská, Daniela (referee)
The bachelor thesis entitled The State and Civil Society in Post-Soviet Russia deals with importance, growth and function of civil society in Russia after 1991. At the beginning, the thesis strives to identify Russian regime type which is influenced not only by communist experience but also by the process of transition to democracy. Both the Yeltsin's and the Putin's administration are seen through the hybrid regimes theory that alleges that they are short of rule of law and limitation of powers. Those aspects essentially shape the form and players of Russian civil society that are characterized as well. The thesis is also concerned with different perception of the civil society concept in Russia and in the Western context; it describes particular dissimilarities and mentions differences of Russian culture and social discourse. In the end, the thesis is focused on president Putin's politics towards civil society, its incentives and consequences.
