Internet and the Holy See

This diploma thesis called Internet and the Holy See deals with a specific question concerning relationship between the Catholic Church and media. It examines development of the attitude of the Holy See to the Internet in context of its attitude to mass media on the basis of exploration of ecclesiastical documents related to media and analysis of Internet and mass media use in practice. It takes the Internet as the latest fundamental milestone in development of human communication and probes how the Catholic Church represented by the Holy See deals with this phenomenon. Name of this thesis begins with the word Internet, to indicate perspective chosen on this topic. In the last chapter there are conclusions emerging from analysis of ecclesiastical documents compared with actual use of the Internet by the Holy See.
The Reflection of the First Czechoslovak Republic and Its President T. G. Masaryk on the Pages of Vatican Daily Newspaper L´Osservatore Romano

The aim of this diploma thesis is to expound the reality of the first Czechoslovak Republic through the foreign point of view, more precisely through the Vatican daily newspaper L´Osservatore Romano. Since the reality is immensely complex, individual chapters deal with topics of overall political development´s reflection, the personality of the first Czechoslovak president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk and the situation of Catholic Church in the country from the perspective of Vatican press. Due to the influence of reporters´ Catholic orientation, the author used other journals and documents to achieve higher levels of the opinion plurality in the particular questions. For this purpose, he worked in his thesis with other Czech and Italian newspapers, pastoral letters which were written by Czechoslovak bishops, memories of contemporary events´ actors or different interviews and speeches of important political figures at the time. In the analysis, there is an attempt to answer the question of how the Holy See´s official periodical informed of the events in interwar Czechoslovakia.
Twiplomacy of Pope Francis: Twitter as a Tool of a Public Diplomacy of the Holy See

This bachelor thesis addresses digital diplomacy as a part of public diplomacy. It focuses on the analysis of pope Francis´s twitter account during 2015 also in comparison to all his activity on this account. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the themes that the pope mentions in his tweets and to analyse the connections between his tweets and current events. Also, a quantitative analysis of this period is carried out, where the pope´s influence, which he gained thanks to participation on this platform, has been evaluated. Part of this work is introducing digital diplomacy as a phenomenon of modern times and Twitter as a modern social platform that has recently found its place as one of the most watched communication channels, which are used by personalities and institutions in the area of international relationships to communicate with the public.
The relation of Pope Pius XII. to the questions of the Nazism and Holocaust during World War II

The aim of the bachelor thesis is an attempt to analyze and objectively assess the attitudes of the Catholic Church led by Pope Pius XII to the question of the Holocaust and Nazism during World War II. To achieve the stated objective, a compilation of historical description will be used as the main method, while the assessment will be based on recognition, characterization and interpretation of the most distinctive differences in the perception of the role of Pius XII during World War II, particularly in relation to Nazism and the Holocaust. Another reason for choosing this topic is an effort to interpret major themes which greatly influenced the development of policies of the Holy See during World War II. In the first chapter there are some important concepts characterized and also the base character of Vatican as a political entity. The second chapter focuses on the person of Pius XII. and his role in the signing of the Reich Concordat. The third chapter monitors the development of the Vatican policy shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War until its end. The following chapter focuses on the reasons that could have had an impact on the attitude of the Holy See in relation to Nazism and the Holocaust. The Development of Concordat Law between 1964 and 2013

The development of concordatarian law from the year 1964 onward The goal of this thesis is the analysis and comparisson of concordatarian law in few select countries. This thesis is mainly focused on the countries of Central Europe (Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Republic of Poland, Federal Republic of Germany). In order to expand the scope of this thesis, two other countries were chosen. The first one is the Kingdom of Spain, which represents a unique example of a gradual change between the so called traditional concordatarian system and the new and modern system developed after the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council. The second country, that was chosen is the Republic of Colombia as a non-European country with long and interesting history of concordatarian tradition. The thesis itself is divided into two main parts. The first part (composed of the first two chapters) aims to define the basic terms, which are used throughout the entire thesis. Such basic terms as concordat, the subjects of concordatarian agreements, the Holy See and others are defined in the first chapter. The Relationship between the Holy See and France at the Beginning of the 20th Century

The thesis will focus on the development and transformation of diplomatic relations between France and the Holy See at the beginning of the 20th century. The author will analyze the assumptions of separation between the two mentioned countries, which occurred in December 1905, and caused the exclusion of the Church from political life in the country. The aim of the work will be analysis, description and interpretation of changes of relations between the two countries in the years 1904/1905-1921 including the restoration of diplomatic relations and the stabilization of relations after a long and dramatic rupture, which has not been processed in contemporary Czech ecclesiastical historiography up-to-day.

Development of diplomatic relations amongst the Czech Republic and the Vatican

Diplomatic relations amongst the Czech republic and the Vatican have been formed since 1918. We study various circumstances which affect the process of shaping in the historical context and on the basis of liberal-idealistic and realistic theories. In this Bachelor work we will concern with factors which influence mutual relation of state and church in the perspective of international relations and in various specific significant moments. This reciprocal relation amongst state and church is not estabilished amongst two states, but also amogst state and international organisation, which is represented by the Pope, the head of the Church and of the Holy See. From the point of view of the mutual agreement every partner enters in this agreement with own demands and needs, which in the case of the papal diplomacy, these demands aren´t always in consensus with the diplomacy of the state. The Czech republic and the Holy See are democracies and such deal with problems in the diplomatic way, even though the consensus is not always possible.
Human rights in relationship between Vatican and the United Nations.

This dissertation deals with a Catholic churches sight of nomenclature and exercise of the human rights, namely in comparison with the activity of the worldcommunity couched in the United Nations. The dissertation shows development of church attitude towards definition and nomenclature of the human rigths from the world authority, and presents answers of Catholic doctrine to current problems in this area - for example disunited definitions, difficult exactablement and other. Thesis of this dissertation should to show, that the Christianity fundamentally contributed to currently formulation of the human rights, which is holded for example in UN-documents. Also at the present time can the Catholic church enter very expertly in this discusion, videlicet thank to hundreds of years old teaching about imago Dei, common good, heritage of the 2nd Vatican council and others documents from 20th and beginning of 21st century or ivolvement of the Holy See in the United Nations or other places from world diplomacy.
