Residential Building - Lesná
Kyselá, Jana ; Manová, Ludmila (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor) ; Šuhajda, Karel (advisor)
Residential house is located on site sloping to the south. Main access road is from the street ‘Tomečkova’. The place is located in the south-eastern part of the housing estate ‘Lesná’ and it is also close to the group of small houses, called ‘Divišova kolonie’. Building is designed as two separate units connected in one functional block. The intention was to use the sloping land to create a terraced house with gradually diminishing material, for better exposure to sun and the formation of terraces. Proposed white façade, with dark window frames complements object’s gradation. The southern part of the site was designed as a front place with vegetation and access roads for pedestrians. All footpaths around the building are paved.

The location is situated in Brno, in the suburbs of Brno – centre. The area is located to Zderadova street from the north, Masná street from the west and Hladikova street from the south part of the east bank of the river Svitava. The building takes seven floors above the ground (shops and services, administration, housing) and two underground floors (underground garages). The design solution is based on the blending of large quantities of various functions on a relatively small built-up area, which means a number of jobs and reducing distances to work. Therefore, there is a compact object, which is divided by two right - angled lines forming as a cross, the four smaller masses that are connected at the level of the 1 NP and 2 NP. The object is divided by lines that follows the important walkways and improve the throughput of the territory. Furthermore, the individual objects are perforated by a square cross - section with dimensions of about 6.5 x 6.5 x X m, both of them are in the horizontal direction and are always within the depth of the block. They are formed as spaces for indoor patios. They can be formed in the vertical direction - in this case, perforations are ended at the different floors according to the needs, smaller atriums arise. The Individual blocks are connected in 4 NP by footbridges. There is a roof terrace in the central part of 5 NP due to perforation of the object that creates a semi-public space functioned to relaxation and recreation.

The aim of my thesis was the design of a new urban structure, located in the existing buildings by the river Svitava inZvonařkaStreet, near the center of the city. My proposaladded to the existing urban character of the area and added it to the missing block development. This location has become an attractive area for the whole region, which offers a wide range of new jobs in services, administration, education, healthcare and a number of residential units for different social groups. The proposed multi-purpose building uses plot in the urban area and is designed as a selfcontained. It reduces transportation and cumulates more diverse functions in one place. It follows the surrounding urban areas. West facade respects the existing street line the MasnáStreet and its height fits the surrounding buildings. When forming materials, some spatial structuring principleswere used, namely: multiplicity, porosity and connectivity.
Multifunctional Building Křenová
Šrubařová, Jana ; Drobníček, Ladislav (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor) ; Hradil, Dušan (advisor)
Multifunctional building is situated on the corner of a city block and connected to the existing buildings. It lies between the streets Křenová, New avenue and Skořepka. Near land is situated water flow Ponávka. Architectonically and artistically it is the two curved formations opening towards the water course Ponávka , connected to other low curved object with a green roof. Individual curves are trying to correspond as with the street New avenue, as with building boundary line of the streets Křenová, Skořepka and Vlhká. South building exceeds the north building because of the continuation to the existing buildings. With taking away material, because of better insolation, are created terraces. The facade is designed from a lightweight siding that allows a playful combination of a glazed surfaces of windows with gray fill in an aluminium raster of structure. In the eastern part in front of building is designed an area with a greenery and access roads for pedestrians. All pedestrian routes outside the building are paved. In the patio of a building is a sculpture around which benches are placed.
Student Apartment Building
Vodička, Jan ; Drobníček, Ladislav (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor) ; Šuhajda, Karel (advisor)
Four-storey student apartment building fills a corner vacant lot in a compact city block. It’s placed on a busy street. Situating a café and a shop in the ground floor and a main entrance facing a tram stop is beneficial both for attracting passing people and for an easy access of residents. The volume composition is based on an analysis of the surroundings. It keeps the local height-level of the highest apartment buildings. There is a school-building right next door which has been kept in spatial dominance. The volume of the building is created with two intersecting blocks, each with different height – this creates a psychological tension in the corner position. The façades composition is based on two levels of scale; one is derived from a typical old apartment buildings’ window size and the second has its origin in the neighbouring school built in functionalistic style. There is a glass suspended façade preventing noise from outside to come in. It has a great impact on the building’s architecture. The building exterior is monochromatic with an exception of a few red-painted anchors holding the glass façade. The student apartment building’s design emphasizes a social contact between the residents. These can meet in a backyard, in a common room in ground floor, in a multilevel lounge with access to a roof terrace or simply on an exterior gallery connecting their flats.
