Skeletal trauma in cases of child abuse

Child abuse is a very serious and common problem, which is important to diagnose correctly as any mistakes or wrong conclusions may have devastating consequences for both the child and its family. Particularly in cases of infant abuse or fatal injuries, where it is impossible to rely on interviewing the child, it is critical to be able to correctly interpret sustained injuries. With fractures being the second most commonly inflicted injuries, skeletal survey is an essential part of examination. This work offers a general review of skeletal injuries and their interpretation in relation to diagnosing child abuse.
Criminal aspects of Child Abuse

This thesis on the topic of criminal aspects of Child Abuse is trying comprehensively to introduce the issue of child abuse primarily in association with CAN Syndrome. Child abuse is very dangerous social phenomenon, mainly because the victim is child who is considered to be defenceless and trusting being. The Child Abuse and Neglect Syndrome has several forms of abuse and that is what makes it even harder to discover and early intercept not just for uninitiated society but even for specialists. The expert knowledge of this issue is still behind to where it should be. That also reflects on the legislation. Even though it is trying to deal with this problem there are still certain shortcomings, which should be improved. This thesis is divided into sex chapters. First chapter concentrates on the term CAN Syndrome itself and on his evolution. It also includes statistics on victims of different forms of CAN Syndrome. Second chapter contains single types of child abuse and forms in which they can be manifested and observed by the environment. The third chapter deals with the offenders in different types of child abuse. What might be their characteristics and what life situation could lead them to commit criminal act. Minor as a victim of domestic violence

Domestic violence against children is a serious social problem, characterized by high latency. According to expert estimates, in the Czech Republic is abused to forty thousand children, but mostly the violence is not revealed and persists throughout childhood, because the child is not able to obtain help. Interest of the society in this issue is still growing, which is very good, as the life and health of an abused child often depends on mindfulness of other people and timely notice of facts which suggest abuse. This thesis deals with the issue of domestic violence against underage victims. The aim is to give a comprehensive characteristic of domestic violence and give the information about the specifics of investigation of domestic violence against minors and about the possibilities of help to child victims. The first chapter deals with definition of domestic violence and a main signs of domestic violence. It also deals with the typology of perpetrators and victims. In the second chapter I analyze the various forms of child abuse and neglect and I deal with the problem of alternative education and way of life as one of the possible form of child abuse. Thesis is also occupied with the statistics and current legislation that solve this issue. The fifth chapter discusses the possibilities of assistance to child victims of domestic violence. The last chapter deals with the issue of investigations of domestic violence against children focus on the interrogation of a minor, because the method of execution the interrogation can affect the whole investigation and can have very serious psychological consequences for the victim.
