Ethnic Identity and conflict (on the Example of Multiethnic Territory of Cruise Ships)

In my doctoral thesis, which I have elaborated on the basis of my diploma thesis Doubled Identity of Crew Members on Cruise Ships as the Instrument of Cultural Adaptation, supervised by Mgr. Helena Tužinská, PhD., I have analysed the way of life of crew members sharing the multiethnical territory of cruise ships. Crew members working there come from over 50 different countries. In spite of their different origins and cultures which have been forming their behaviour and way of thinking, they share small space without any conflicts. My goal is to sum up the basic conditions which should be met in any multiethnical society to ensure that there would not be any conflicts between its habitants. According to my hypothesis there is a need of other than ethnical identity which could unify them on other than ethnical basis. In the territory of cruise ships it is the socio-professional identity of 'crew member '. I found out that there are two main factors responsible for successful co-existence of people from different cultures here - communication and the system of values. That is why from all factors in which we can observe socio-professional identity of crew members I preferably analyse rules and norms established by crew members and lingua franca used on cruise ships called 'ship language'. Primary school pupils and their system of values according to their reading preferences

This diploma thesis focuses on the value system of primary school pupils and its connection to reading preferences. The terms "value" and "system of values" are being defined from the perspective of several social sciences. Apart from that, the stages of pupils' morality development are being described, as well as the acquisition of reading skills and the importance of reading during leisure time activities. The practical part evaluates the outcomes of survey examining the relation between the pupils' system of values and their reading preferences.
The influence of television commercial on the value system of a children from primary school

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of the influence of commercial advertisement on the value system of children of younger school age in the Czech environment and in the context of society nowadays that is being significantly modified by the influence of infosphere and cyberculture. This impact relates both to an excessive TV watching and the use of other digital video equipment. This very frequently consists of the commercial advertisements which appear on TV as well. Watching TV strongly contributes to passive and consumerist lifestyle. Therefore, the role of parents is crucial because they can help children to do some activities and make them think critically about their real needs. Additionally, pedagogical action via media education, which has been still neglected, is essential. The aim of this thesis is to verify whether, and to what extent, children adopt this system of values presented by commercial advertising, as human value system is vital for one's development.
Parenting styles and priorities from the perspective of Vietnamese parents living in the Czech Republic.

This Bachelor´s thesis is focused on the problems of family upbringing in the context of the opinions and experience of Vietnamese parents. It collects perspectives on various conceptions of parenting, preferences of parenting styles and priorities in connection with the value and cultural world of the Vietnamese minority in the Czech Republic. In the practical part of the thesis, the opinions of parents from the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic on the upbringing of their own children are evaluated based on the qualitative methodology. In the respective categories there are identified the relevant data resulting from the description of a choice of a parenting style and designation of priorities regarded by such informants as fundamental in upbringing of their children.
Czech soldier's values and the change in them as a result of experiencing the Islamic culture in Afghanistan

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of the value system of soldier operating in foreign operation in Afghanistan. The theoretical part deals with the overall context of foreign operations in Afghanistan. The main chapter is focused on clarifying the definition of "the values" and elaborates in detail what values are important in the Czech society, respectively for the soldier himself. The practical part contains a narrative story of a soldier who participated in military operations in Afghanistan, and its exploration using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The work brings a probe into the experience of the ACR soldier in connection with his participation abroad. It tries to give testimony about what a soldier deployed in foreign operations facing and how strong he influence on him and his values system this experience had.

This study deals with value system of adolescents and their attitudes to education, family life, leisure time and shows us their conceptions of their immediate future. The theoretical part of this work describes adolescence and thereinbefore terms. The practical part includes 4 presumtions which they relate to attitudes and system of values of adolescents and education of their parents influencing their children.
