Qualitative analysis of professional terminology in specialized fields

Cílem bakalářské práce je charakterizovat odborný styl (rysy, funkce, forma, syntax, lexikum) a následně shrnout teoretické poznatky z oblasti překladu odborného stylu týkající se terminologie a překladatelských postupů na úrovni lexikální a gramatické. Praktická část bakalářské práce se zaměří na aplikaci teoretických poznatků v rámci kvalitativní analýzy vybraných odborných textů.
Syntax as a Critical Part of the Czech Language Education at Upper Primary School

The thesis deals with critical points in teaching syntax at the lower secondary level of elementary school. The aim of the thesis is to identify the causes of the teacher's attitude towards syntax as a critical point in the teaching of Czech language at the lower secondary level of elementary school and to determine whether the goal of teaching syntax is fulfilled, which we consider to be the development of students' abilities and skills aimed at improving their language practice. Teacher attitudes are investigated using a questionnaire survey. Based on the findings from this survey, an analysis of entrance exams and a second questionnaire survey are also conducted, which aims to confirm and refine some of the findings from the first questionnaire survey, mainly related to the reduction of syntactic teaching content. The thesis further examines students' attitudes towards syntactic content and analyzes their work from a syntactic perspective. In the theoretical part, we describe theoretical background, comment on critical points in teaching syntax and the syntax system itself, describe the framework educational program, textbooks, and syntactic teaching content for individual grades. The Linguistic Analysis of Selected Podcasts

This bachelor thesis deals with a relatively new phenomenon of the journalistic genre - the podcast. The aim of the work is to determine its language specifics. In the theoretical part, the podcast, as a new genre, is introduced and specified. Related terms are defined in this part too. Furthermore, selected podcasts are introduced in this section. The practical part is central to the thesis. It is based on linguistic analysis of specific speeches. The analysis focuses mainly on linguistic variations, peculiarities and shortcomings. For the best possible clarity, it is divided into subchapters according to linguistic levels. After the pilot survey podcasts that can be classified as educational were selected for the bachelor's thesis. Despite their similarity, they are diverse. In addition to the analysis itself, the result of the thesis is an evaluation of typical features, placing in a theoretical framework and drawing a conclusion in which the results of the research are confronted with hypotheses. Participle and participle contructions in Spanish with regard to the acquisition of structures (in Czech students)

This bachelor thesis follows the Spanish participle, its functions and use by Czech students of the Spanish language. The work consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, there is explained the morphology and all the functions of the participle are explained. Each function of the participle is represented by examples. The practical part is focusing on analysis of language levels, and then on quantification and classification of errors that are present in the learners corpora of essays written by the students of the Faculty of Arts at the University of South Bohemia.
Linguistic Analysis of Football Slang in the Colloquial Functional Style

The topic of the thesis is the linguistic analysis of colloquial football slang. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with slang and its classification within the Czech language. At the same time, the onomasiological procedures used in the creation of slangisms are presented. It also focuses on functional styles, especially the colloquial style. In the practical part, the excerpted material collected from discussions on the Internet is analysed mainly in terms of morphological, lexical and syntactic, but also semantic and etymological aspects. The thesis also includes the analysis and evaluation of a questionnaire survey aimed at finding out whether the knowledge of slang expressions differs across generations.
Infinitives and infinitive clauses in Spanish with regard to the acquisition of structures

This bachelor thesis is focused on the infinitive, its function in the sentence and the construction that the infinitive can form. The thesis is divided into two parts, firstly, the theoretical part, which builds the theoretical foundation for the practical part. The theoretical part aims to repeat impersonal forms in Spanish and specifically focuses on the infinitive and the constructions that are formed with the infinitive. In the practical part we summarize important points from the theoretical part and we are going to focus on the very goal of this bachelor thesis. The aim of this work is to design an annotation system for later use in the analysis of works in the student corpus, followed by its testing on several student works. The work is supplemented by a table with an overview of expected knowledge about the infinitive at different language levels according to the Plan Curricular de Instituto Cervantes (PCIC).
Comparative constructions in Spanish with regard to the acquisition of structures

This bachelor thesis focuses on comparative constructions in Spanish. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part explains the issue of gradation of adjectives and adverbs, distinguishes classes of comparation in Spanish (superior, inferior, and equal grade of quality) and presents the constructions in corresponding examples. The constructions are also discussed here from the semantic point of view, because in addition to the comparative meaning, they also have other secondary meanings. The practical part is analysing language levels and knowledge of comparations at individual levels. The analysis was performed using the study plan of the Cervantes Institute. According to the results of the analysis, a design of an annotation system for comparative constructions is created, as well as an annotation system of possible errors in the constructions.
Italian idioms containing the names of body parts and their Czech equivalents

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to introduce Italian somatic idioms, ie those that contain the name of a body part. The work is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical part, presents the basic terminology, especially the definition of the terms "phrasal idiom" and "idiom", presents their properties, their internal structure and function. Furthermore, a brief historical and cultural insight into the topic is made and, last but not least, a comparison of the Czech and Italian conceptions of the issue is made. In the second part, the analysis of a selected sample of Italian somatic idioms is performed, the selected sample is analyzed in terms of formal, ie. according to the internal structure. However, the main task of the thesis is to indicate the possibilities in the translation of selected idioms and to present possible equivalents in the Czech language, including the introduction of various translation strategies. Furthermore, the possibilities of syntactic manipulation and internal transformation of idioms are also presented.
Learning German After English in the Field of Syntax

The diploma thesis deals with the teaching of German as a foreign language after English in the field of sentence structure. The theoretical part is based on the basic literature and it is focused on the presentation of the basics of German and English syntax, considering the differences in both languages. The empirical part covers an analysis of German language textbooks at the A1 level, which focuses on the presentation of syntactic phenomena in which students often make mistakes due to the differences between these two languages. Subsequently, based on the research, the basic syntactic errors are determined and possible solutions and exercises for working with these syntactic phenomena are proposed. The aim of the thesis is to carry out the analysis of textbooks, own research and suggest solutions in teaching German as a foreign language after English in the field of syntax.
Specifics of Linguistic Aphasia: Case Study

This Master Thesis deals with a typology of aphasia (Broca's, Wernicke's, conductive, transcortical-motor and sensory) and also with various variables that affect the type of aphasia. The thesis also deals with linguistics specifics of aphasia symptoms (circulation, perseveration, semantic and phonemic paraphasias, agramatism). In a practical part of the thesis, the symptoms of aphasia are observed in particular aphasic patients while their speech has been recorded.
