Title: System to support decission making in dental implantology - quality of life of patients with dental implants Author: MUDr. Pavel Kříž Department: Paediatric Stomatology of 2nd Medical School and Faculty Hospital Motol, V Úvalu 84, 150 06 Prague 5 Supervisor: Prof. MUDr. Taťjana Dostálová, DrSc., MBA Supervisor's e-mail: tatjana.dostalova@fnmotol.cz Dental implants are the method of choice in the treatment of missing tooth/teeth replacement. Implant therapy must be preceded by a detailed examination and the overall treatment plan. As an aid for decision-making for dentists was created decision-making scheme, which gradually, logically and schematically guides the dentists in this particular situation. Health is closely related to the quality of life. Our work evaluates the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of patients with dental implants. The aim of our study was to determine whether treatment with a dental implant(s) improve(s) OHRQoL. We created a questionnaire to determine the quality of life before and after implantation. In our study, we evaluated only patients who were treated by the only one implantological system to eliminate the influence of other systems on the quality of the results of the study; we evaluated a total of 297 implants. It was assessed a total of 97...
Dental status in handicapped patients
Chleborád, Karel ; Dostálová, Taťjana (advisor) ; Racek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Hanzlíček, Petr (referee)
The information in the medical records serve many purposes: they can be used for diagnosis and therapy, medical documentation contains information that can be the basis for financial authorities for treatment or for pumping reimbursement from health insurance. The data can be used in statistics and other scientific purposes. The aim of study is to verify the simplicity of data process implementation and time of data storing for modification of classical paper WHO dental card, lifetime dental EHR controlled by keyboard and lifetime dental EHR controlled by voice. All three methods were applied on 126 patients. At first the patients were inspected by a standard technique (communication between dentist and nurse) and the data recorded into the paper WHO dental card. The same person recorded all data to lifetime dental EHR using keyboard and using voice. Then we compared the time, which was needed for recording the data using these three methods. Using Friedman test we found very significant differences in time of recording among three methods (p<0.001). We can see that the paper WHO dental card was recorded quickly, but its rise due to missing electronic form is difficult. Times for recording data using keyboard or voice in lifetime dental EHR were not significantly different. The clinical practice...

Title: Voice controlled electronic health record in dentistry Author: MUDr. Radek Hippmann Department: Department of paediatric stomatology, Faculty hospital Motol Supervisor: Prof. MUDr. Taťjana Dostalová, DrSc., MBA Supervisor's e-mail: Tatjana.Dostalova@fnmotol.cz This PhD thesis is concerning with development of the complex electronic health record (EHR) for the field of dentistry. This system is also enhanced with voice control based on the Automatic speech recognition (ASR) system and module for speech synthesis Text-to- speech (TTS). In the first part of the thesis is described the whole issue and are defined particular areas, whose combination is essential for EHR system creation in this field. It is mainly basic delimiting of terms and areas in the dentistry. In the next step we are engaged in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problematic, which is often ignored and trends in EHR and voice technologies are also described. In the methodological part are described delineated technologies used during the EHR system creation, voice recognition and TMJ disease classification. Following part incorporates results description, which are corresponding with the knowledge base in dentistry and TMJ. From this knowledge base originates the graphic user interface DentCross, which is serving for dental data...
Change of Cephalometric Values Focused on Labial Bone Thickness
Filipová, Diana ; Dostálová, Taťjana (advisor) ; Racek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Špidlen, Miloš (referee)
The morphology of the craniofacial complex is prone to alterations resulting from a wide range of external factors. In the first part of the presented thesis, we analysed the influence of slow long- term changes of the environment and population genome by comparing historical (11-12th century AD) and contemporary skulls using cephalometric X-ray images. The second part focuses on the effects of orthodontic treatment on bone thickness in relevant areas, with the analysis being based on Cone Beam computed tomography. A comparison of the palatal angle of 115 historical and 75 contemporary skulls revealed a statistically significant decrease of this parameter. The follow-up of 58 patients utilizing three- dimensional diagnostic imaging measurements before and after treatment revealed a statistically significant decrease in vestibular bone thickness, without changes of total alveolar width. Our analysis revealed a substantial bone response to respective forces, with relevant clinical implications - respecting the anatomical limits of the range of motion is essential to achieve therapeutic success and to avoid alveolar defects. Keywords: 3D imaging, CBCT, cephalometry, orthodontics, dentistry
Change of dental technicians competencies
Palko, Matěj ; Vrzáček, Petr (advisor) ; Vojáčková, Anna (referee)
This thesis deals with the proposal of competence change of dental technicians in the form of foreign model of denturist/clinical dental technician profession. The thesis includes draft of change management process of competences for non-medical medical staff in the Czech dentistry. The thesis also examines the opinions and attitudes of dental technicians towards given design of competencies and includes analysis and mapping of interest groups. In the theoretical part, terminology and legislation of the current model of dentistry in the Czech Republic is described. An issue of removable replacements as one of the areas of performance of dentists are defined in depth. It also defines the subject of removable replacements in statistical, demographic and economic contexts. Moreover, it describes models of multidisciplinary teams used in the Czech Republic and abroad. Lastly, the theory needed for change management is described and also includes hypothetical proposal of change of competencies of dental technicians, which among other things characterises used models for change implementation. The empirical part comprises of the process of competence change in dental technicians, analysis of interest groups and mapping of attitudes of interest groups. Also, it analyses the results of survey which...
Dentists literacy of non-medical staff
Havlíčková, Kateřina ; Kordulová, Pavla (advisor) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (referee)
(v AJ) Through the bachelor thesis I open the issue of dental literacy for non-medical health workers. The World Health Organization points out the importance of high health literacy and health education. Therefore, I decided to elaborate the final work on this topic and thus find out the level of dental literacy at various clinics. The theoretical part describes health literacy, anatomy and pathology of oral cavity and current knowledge of literacy in dentistry. The basis for the work I drew mainly on the basis of the research in the National Medical Library. From the catalog of the National Medical Library Medvik, the BMC database (Bibliographia medica čechoslovaca), the specialized databases CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) and MEDLINE (Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online), from a personal source of professional literature, expert consultation with dental doctors and dental hygienists, own experience and other bachelor theses. The aim of this work is to create an information leaflet to address health professionals in the field of care. Methods: The work was elaborated on the basis of quantitative research by means of anonymous non-standardized questionnaire in printed form. The target group was non-medical health professionals. Objective: The...

The thesis is focused on orofacial clefts, dental intervention and the speech therapy of the patient. The theoretical part describes the given issues from a historical and contemporary perspective. The thesis covers causes of orofacial clefts and the necessity of identifying a solution. Orofacial clefts are discussed and classified. Identifying the issues that may result from congenital cleft defects. It is focused on the velopharyngeal inadequacy and the cleft palate speech, which is closely connected with orofacial clefts. At the end of this segment the treatment schedule of the orofacial clefts is described. The interdisciplinary cooperation focuses on dental therapy and speech therapy. The practical part deals with three similar casuistries about three patients with a similar defect. Photographic documentation of patients during their orthodontic and prosthetic treatment and after their treatment is provided. The purpose of this thesis is to describe how the interdisciplinary cooperation was ensured in a group of patients. The research investigates the initiation of speech therapy with the patients. The thesis is focused on the patient's rehabilitation and the optimal communication condition. The methods and the research tools are casuistries based on a questionnaire and semi-controlled...
