In my thesis I deal with the specifics of social work with clients with hearing defects. The purpose of my work was to find out what experiences the students of Czech schools have with people with hearing impairments and how they orient themselves in this issue. This thesis is divided into two main parts: Theoretical and Practical. The theoretical part of my work is divided into twelve chapters, which are focused on surdopaedia, hearing impairment, diagnostics, hearing screening, education and last but not least communication, compensatory aids and specifics of social work. In the practical part I used the questionnaire to find out basic information from students from the Hussite Theological Faculty. I was wondering if there are students at the faculty who are interested in this issue and whether they would like to work with people with hearing impairment in the future.
Specifics of social work with families
VEJSLÍKOVÁ, Markéta
This master dissertation is focused on specific problems about social cooperation with a family. The main aim of the master dissertation is to describe specifics which are experienced by social workers while cooperating with families who are treating their children badly, some of them are even abusing or negleting them. Teoretical part is mainly focused on existing family itself and its characteristics, then on reasons of rising violence are mentioned as well as procedure and law adjustment of administrative authorities of protection of children. Description of individual specifics of social work is mentioned, too. In the practical part I carried out semistructured interview with workers of administrative authorities of protection of children in The Region Vysocina. This was done in order to aim rising up of the quality of my research. During the research there was found out that the most used specific teories and techniques are interview, observing and active listening which is being considered as the basics of their work. The other results show that workers work while using the specific methods of approach focused on their tasks and attitudes to the client. We can see this simply in the answers of the workers who admited their listening to the client and having a real interest in him or her while working with him/her step by step. They also help their clients to work on their tasks and problems which are being solved and the aim is to be implemented. We can also find using the psychosocial approach in their answers. This approach is focused on social conditions and the way they work with a client, which means they try to solve the problem by the client himself/herself. In accordance with these facts there is learnt that it is not possible to specify a theory or a method which would be the most effective while working with a family. Some of the theories are used at the same time together, they are also conected very closely or are followed by each other. Having done all this can give the worker's job better and complex view on situations in which the client lives and so there is an option of solving the state of affairs.

From the research emerged, that the workers see the specificity in individual approach to every client, establishing and then maintaining of a confidential relationship, or in setting the rules. Most of the workers agreed, that both men and women are very important in this job, because every one of them is a different role model. However, they see some differences in better obedience and easier gain of authority, in case the social worker is a man. The diploma thesis is focused on the problem of the specific features of working with an individual. As this is a very wide topic difficult to grasp for the interviewees, a narrower focus was created, on the area of mental health/illness. The theoretical part is divided into two sections. In the first one, a description of mental illness is found, to permit basic clarity and the imagination of working with this target group. The second part focuses on social activity, on the problem of caring for the mentally ill, and last but not least on the Reformation of psychiatric care, when the origin of Mental Health Centers (further mentioned as MHC) is related also to the adjustment of the work, methodology and approach of social workers. The practical part was created based on a qualitative research, via a semi-structured interview with workers, focusing on social work with mentally ill people. Due to creating an MHC in FOKUS Vysočina Region and via cooperating with the medical sector, i.e. also the Psychiatric Hospital in Havlíčkův Brod, the survey was implemented in the Havlíčkův Brod area serving as a catchment area. The aim of this thesis is to describe specific features of social work from social workers´ side working with mentally ill people (individuals) in the Havlíčkův Brod area. Using the research question: What specific features do social workers claim when working with mentally ill individuals. The executed research has proven that the specific theories and techniques used most include the interview, active listening, crisis intervention and the approach focused on the client. Further in the area of housing, finance, relationships, and the mental illness itself. The non-profit sector workers see a specific feature in cooperating with the medical sector, necessary for working in MHC and in the Recovery approach (the CARe method).
