This master’s thesis named “The Life Cycle of Solar Power, Efficiency and Return” is divided into seven chapters and focuses on the utilization of solar radiation in photovoltaic power stations and solar thermal power stations. The first chapter of this thesis familiarizes the reader with issues concerning renewable resources of energy and presents an overview of the focus of each chapter. The following second chapter is occupied with a topical research of renewable resources of energy utilization in Europe. Further the author presents a brief glance back at the past of solar energy utilization and also a prediction of future solar energy utilization in the Czech Republic. The chapter named “Specification and parameterization of individual technologies” contains an overview of today’s most utilized photovoltaic cells and panels together with an overview of utilized solar collectors and solar thermal power stations. In the following chapter named “Concretization of typical applications and realizations of photovoltaic and solar thermal power stations and determination of all related parameters” the author describes further components of photovoltaic and solar thermal systems. The economical aspect of photovoltaic component production together with an overview of utilized photovoltaic technologies is presented in this chapter. The problem of recycling photovoltaic applications and the current legislative situation regarding this issue in the Czech Republic is also outlined within this chapter. In the fifth chapter of this master’s thesis the author presents mathematical models of a photovoltaic and a solar thermal power station with the focus on economic aspects of investment efficiency assessment. Within this master’s thesis a simulation program in the computational software program Mathematica was created by the author. This program allows a calculation of economic efficiency and return of photovoltaic power station investments. The results of executed simulations are presented in the sixth chapter of this thesis. The last chapter contains an appraisal and summary of results achieved by the author of this thesis.
Systme for solar system control
Cseri, Peter ; Šembera, Jaroslav (referee) ; Bradáč, Zdeněk (advisor)
In the first part of my thesis, I was studying materials about using solar energy. Then I write search about all components that are necessary to be used in solar systems. After that I designed the structure of solar system used for heating the hot water for a family house about 4 persons. For this system I designed a regulator and one layer circuit board using Eagle layout editor 4.12r2, which I assembled and tested. This followed creating and debugging program for microprocessor that controls the whole device. This functional regulator for solar collectors connected in a box together with the necessary electronic components is my final product of this project.
Modern energy and decreasing the energy intensiveness of buildings
Kučera, Miroslav ; Popelka, Josef (referee) ; Havlík, Roman (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with possible energy-savings in the municipal buildings of Spytihněv. Moreover, it discusses the possible improvements of heating features and making use of renewable resources. This is meant to be achieved by a wrapper which is less demanding on energy consumption than those which have been used until now. Attention is also paid to a more efficient system of energy distribution. Both energetic and financial points of view are taken into consideration. The thesis consists of a few parts. Introduction, the first part, deals with renewable resources issues on a theoretical level. The second part is divided according to each individual analysed premise/building. At this point energy-saving proposal, choice of a heating system, a heating pump, a solar collector as well as energy-saving and financial calculation are included.
Heating motherly school with heat pump and solar collectors with additional heating to the open air pool
Preclík, Vítězslav ; Krhovský, Bohumil (referee) ; Mastný, Petr (advisor)
In 2007, in June the company Europrojekt entered the project with the requirement of the formulation and implementation of heating motherly school by heat pumps in the village Hluk. The projekt was ordered by the management of this motherly school. This is a total reconstruction of the heating system building motherly school, including the use of residual heat for heating the pool water in an open swimming pool, which is located near this motherly school. The requirement is also given to reduce environmental pollution and achieve energy savings. This diploma thesis solves the detailed description of solutions and calculations for each part. In first, the introductory part of the work is focused on getting the project, a description of the object motherly school and a proposal for the energy measure before the realization. Second section is devoted to the selection and design of the system of heat pumps and solar collectors. Next part of work is the use of the residual heat for heating the pool water in the transitional months, i.e. May, September and the main months June, July, and August, when should be the visit of the swimming pool the biggest. In addition, resolving heat recovery through plate exchangers, the calculation of storage tanks, valves insurance proposal, the expansion tank, circulation pumps, etc. The last part thesis addresses the energy and economic assessment of the whole project.
Measuring and regulation of computer controlled solar systems: Vizualization of energetic systems
Vlčnovská Kotlíková, Silvie ; Mašek, Ivan (referee) ; Půčková, Helena (advisor)
This work is oriented on study and evaluation of performance of real operating solar system. There was made analysis of actual technological unit and there was suggested mode of measuring of nodal parameters. There was made interconnection between the head operating unit of the solar system and the web server. And there was prepared software for grafical image of time and temperature dependence and for data transfer to ready web application. It primarily talks about increase of efficiency of real technological unit through regulating of parameter that is using up of accumulated energy.
The long-term accumulation of solar collectors and the subsequent use of the heat
Litera, Jiří ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
The aim of the thesis is the design and evaluation of the long-term accumulation of solar collectors and the subsequent use of the heat. The basic principles of the use of solar energy are introduced in the theoretical part as well as the list of available heat pumps, solar collectors moreover options for the accumulation of heat are evaluated. In the practical part the system of a long-term heat accumulation for a partially restored family house is designed, where accumulation into water or gravel are the two presented options. Solar energy is collected by solar collectors and accumulated in the long term storage. The system involves water to water or ground to water heat pump that reduces the temperature of the reservoir in order to increase the temperature difference of the system. Both options require a large volume of heat collecting, including large surface of solar collectors. Because of the high cost and spatial requirements the system shows to be hardly realistic in practice. For this reason an alternative solution of a family house heating system more suitable from the economic point of view is described. As a result it was proved that system of the long-term accumulation is not an appropriate solution for heating system of family houses and it is used in places with enough space for the accumulation such as high capacity trays or flooded mines. For existing family houses (partly insulated and with a heat source such as natural gas) the usage of the heat pump eventually supported by solar collectors appears as the most sensible solution. Such solution shows a return of investment from 14 to 25 years, and contributes to sustainable development and to reduction of non-renewable primary energy.
