Kříž, Martin ; Brož, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Matějec, Tomáš (referee)
Altruism in Biblical Texts and Philosophical-Religious Texts of China Keywords Altruism, Old Testament, New Testament, Christianity, agape, social teaching of the church, secularism, atheism, sociobiology, Confucianism. The topic of this thesis is altruism as it is manifested in the texts of the Old and New Testaments, in the social doctrine of the Church and in Confucianism. Altruism is described as a very abstract concept that originated and came into use in a certain polemic against religious concepts, and attention is given to how further usage has blurred this polemical edge and how Christians themselves use it. The thesis compares the concept of altruism with the specific concepts of amor, eros, caritas and agape in the Christian tradition. The concept of altruism in the Western tradition of thought from Aguste Comte to contemporary sociobiologists is discussed. An excursus into Chinese culture shows an ethical system with different starting points. The social doctrine of the Church as a response to current problems and new currents of thought is presented from the late 19th century to the present.
Media without virtue? Ethical aspects of the digital structural transformation of the public
Vizina, Petr ; Štica, Petr (advisor) ; Ovečka, Libor (referee)
The thesis is an attempt to capture some of the ethical and social challenges posed by the digital structural transformation of the public. In the text I develop the idea of the social doctrine of the Church, which considers media as a means of communication as a gift from God. The paper investigates whether and how this fundamental aspect of Christian social ethics can be considered in the context of the fundamental transformation of social and individual communication during digital structural change. The thesis aims to explore how and where classic norms of journalism such as impartiality, balance and factuality on the part of the media are shifting and changing in a new context, in the context of the spread and availability of digital technologies and how digital platforms have transformed the production and dissemination of media content. Questions around the economic and knowledge asymmetries associated with the development of communication technologies, and the social and ethical implications for the actions of individuals and communities are part of the consideration. The thesis deals with the concept of solidarity. The theoretical part characterizes the notion of the solidarity, the importance of solidarity in different countries, as well as the importance of solidarity in social policy and political ethics. The brief historical development of solidarity is further described. The penultimate chapter of the theoretical section is devoted to solidarity from the perspective of the Church and the union of solidarity with the person of Jesus Christ. At the conclusion of the theoretical part, the types of solidarity and the summary of the theoretical part are given. The practical part focuses on qualitative research to see how social workers in different areas of social work understand the concept of solidarity. The interview includes three parts. The first part focuses on meaning of the concept of solidarity for social workers. It is further clarified how much solidarity is important in the organisation, where they work. The last part of the interview is focused on expressions of solidarity between co-workers and clients. The conclusion of the theoretical part includes an evaluation of the research, in which there is also a comparison of respondents' responses. At the end of my bachelor's thesis, I present options for social workers on how to work with solidarity and the interconnectedness of solidarity with social work.

In this thesis we went into details about relatively great number of passages with the goal to attain the global point of view. At the beginning we justified why to look for the inspiration in the life of Jesus Christ. Then we focused on Jesus' political principles. We treated conflicts between John the Baptist and Herod Antipas and conflicts between Jesus and political and religious leaders of his days. We focused mainly on the conflicts connected with the Jewish Law and paying taxes. Then we treated the conflict between Jesus and Pilate, which ended in Jesus' crucifixion. Then we briefly touched on the Paul's point of view and we mentioned several examples of the persecution of the Christians from the pagans. At the end we made an attempt to resume briefly what the New Testament says about the relationship of the Christians to the political power and we joined the short mention about the relationship between the Church and the state in the social doctrine of...

This thesis is concerned with finding a relationship between the principles of Catholic social teaching and the written views of the Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura party as presented on the party's website. At the beginning of the thesis the reader is briefly introduced to individual principles of Catholic social teaching. For the purposes of this thesis five principles have been chosen which are mentioned in the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church. These are the principles of human dignity, the common good, universal destination of goods, subsidiarity, and solidarity. Then the reader is acquainted with the basic views of the Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura party (SPD). By way of indicative research on the particular views of SPD, three topics are then formulated, which are most often mentioned by SPD. These consist of the European Union, foreign policy and migration. Comparison of these most frequently mentioned topics with Catholic social teaching and other relevant resources creates a base for further confrontation between Catholic social teaching principles and the views of SPD. Equally important for this confrontation are also other positions of the SPD party relating to particular social topics and also values of truth, freedom, fairness and love, which...
