Detection of Homologous Enzymes

The media coverage of the Gulf War in contemporary news
Štěpánek, Jan ; Horký, Petr (advisor) ; Chrenčík, Roman (referee)
The thesis will deal with the 1991 Gulf War conflict, the reason for the occurrence of this series of events, the consequences caused, and above all the course of this power struggle from the point of view of the media environment. The core of the thesis will be an analysis of the domestic and foreign press during the conflict. This analysis will also compare the change in the attitude of the media and also the attitude of the military towards the media. This approach will be compared to previous conflicts, which include the Vietnam War, and will shed light on the possible changes that have occurred over time. The thesis will aim to introduce the reader to the conflict itself, presenting a comprehensive view of the selected contemporary press, focusing on Czech and American sources. The periodicals analyzed will be Red Law and The Washington Post from the period January 17, 1991 - February 28, 1991.
On the Presupposition Projection in Czech
Veselý, Vojtěch ; Macurová, Alena (advisor) ; Hajičová, Eva (referee) ; Bílková, Jana (referee)
On the Presupposition Projection in Czech I understand presupposition as both an implication and a set of requirements which have to be fulfilled by the (passive) context, i.e. a set of realized propositions and logico- semantic relations between them shared by the communicants. The content of presupposition is formed by information which the speaker characterizes as predetermined, i.e. known to the communicants. Presupposition is a semantically narrower notion than implication: every meaning expressed indirectly is implied, but not every implied meaning is presupposed. Contextually bound constituents express a proposition which is included in the active context, i.e. a set of propositions on which the communicants are actively focused. Contextual boundness is a type of presupposition trigger: information included in the active context is a necessary part of the passive context (it doesn't hold true vice versa, of course). Context shared by the communicants can not be incremented by the primary (i.e. directly expressed) proposition of a clause, unless all the presuppositions semantically entailed in the primary proposition are satisfied. Presupposition is satisfied if and only if proposition p which forms a content of the presupposition is part of the (passive) context. In case that the context...
Result/inference discourse connectives in academic texts
Tomešová, Klára ; Malá, Markéta (advisor) ; Brůhová, Gabriela (referee)
The present thesis compares the use of result/inference discourse connectives in two corpora compiled by the author. The student corpus consists of 43 literary essays by Czech university students of English and American studies and the reference corpus contains 34 journal articles written by native expert writers. The main objective of the thesis was to determine to what extent students resemble professional writers in their use of result/inference connectives with respect to the frequency, position and scope of the connectives. The thesis revealed a strong overall overuse of result/inference connectives by students as well as overuse and underuse of individual connectives. It was also found that both types of writers generally prefer initial to non-initial placement of result/inference connectives; however, students more frequently use the connectives with the immediate scope.

The nature and scope of the non-refoulement principle
Cenklová, Tereza ; Honusková, Věra (advisor) ; Bílková, Veronika (referee)
in English This thesis deals with the key principle of international refugee law which is the principle of non-refoulement. Thanks to this principle, entitled persons are protected from being returned to their country of origin where they would be in danger on the grounds listed in particular documents. The aim of my thesis is to define and analyze the nature, scope and content of this principle in particular international and regional documents and their subsequent comparison. The thesis itself is composed of seven main chapters. Chapter one contains a brief definition of the documents where the principle of non-refoulement is enshrined. Chapter two deals with the scope of the principle. The personal and territorial scope is examined in this chapter. In the third chapter, I focus on the nature of the principle in particular documents, the presence and interpretation of exceptions to the principle. I analyze primarily the Convention Relating to the Status of refugees in this chapter, since this Convention is the one containing exceptions to the principle. In the fourth chapter, I focus on the detailed analysis of the nature, scope and content of the principle in the particular documents. I examine which parts of the principle are identical or similar in those documents and which of them differ....

Czech Environmental Inspectorate
Beranová, Lenka ; Humlíčková, Petra (advisor) ; Žákovská, Karolina (referee)
This thesis addresses the problem of Czech Environmental Inspectorate and the general protection of the environment. I focus on the history of the protection of the environment, both at international, European and national. Further, I develop inspections in our area and grounds of Inspection, its scope (both substantive and territorial) and its competence in all major components. For comparison, I also deal with environmental protection in other European countries (I chose two Western European countries, which have a relatively long history of environmental protection). Most, however, devoted to the performance of supervision, both in general and specifically as one of the powers of inspection to all five areas. At the end of the deal by providing information and differences in process the individual laws.
