Room Acoustics Simulation Application
Krbila, Martin ; Szőke, Igor (referee) ; Mošner, Ladislav (advisor)
This thesis deals with simulation of room acoustics. The first part of this thesis contains theoretical description of existing aproaches to simulation of acoustics and compares their strenghts and weaknesses. For the purpose of impulse response calculation, several geometrical methods were implemented, such as ray tracing, image method and a combination of those two methods. Application with graphical and text user interface was created, to allow simulation of rooms with arbitrary geometry. The application also allows user to obtain impulse response in a form of a sound file, to visualize the results and the process of sound simulation and to perform auralization. The results of the simulation were compared with measured impulse responses of real rooms. The comparison showed, that the hybrid method is the most accurate of methods implemented in this thesis, and that the best results are achieved by simulation of empty medium-sized or large rooms.
Optimalization of Audio Reproduction Chain for Hearing Tests
Halaš, Rostislav ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Tomáš (advisor)
This project describes basic steps leading to the solution of a problem associated with a poor quality of played recordings in the listening room of the Škoda Auto co. . Firstly, the main technical parameters of the reproduction chain elements are resumed. Secondly, the basics of the room acoustics, such as the distribution of the sound field in a bordered space, are explained. On the basis of theoretical relations, the main modes of a cubic room are calculated. Then, software for acoustic response computing is used to simulate various options of both room idealization (room size, absorption coefficient, etc.) and listening point location. Simulations are compared with results gained by measurement. On the basis of this measurement, the quality of acoustics of the listening room is evaluated. In next chapters, the process of the optimalization of the audio chain and setup of the Automotive Sound Quality software are summarized. To conclude, the results are assessed and further steps based on the project are proposed.
Recording Studio with Accommodation in Proseč
Jun, David ; Remeš, Josef (referee) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
The thesis deals with designing a recording studio with accommodation. The object is drafted as a three-level construction built on a slightly sloping terrain. The purpose of the studio is to record primarily artificial chamber music and the accommodation space ought to be provided preferentially to the musicians involved. Attention is paid especially to the space layout and structure of the recording studio. The thesis is based on foreign literature and focuses on unique approaches to designs of absorbent and diffuse elements.
Acoustical room impulse response database with parametrization of subsequent reverberation
Šiška, Jakub ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Balík, Miroslav (advisor)
Theoretical part of this bachelor’s thesis discusses description of impulse response, echogram, various methods of impulse response measurement and their comparison. Next part includes describing objective acoustical parameters, remaining energy analysis and its frequency dependent visualization by energy decay relief. Furthermore, existing databases of impulse responses are documented. The practical part consists of realization of own database of impulse responses and various graphical visualizations computed from these impulse responses. In the next part, algorithm for energy decay relief parameterization and modeling of impulse responses is described and realized in Matlab software. In the last part, a listening test is performed to verify impulse response modeling.
Measurement of the reverberation time
Hořák, Pavel ; Ryndová, Anna (referee) ; Jedelský, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with issues concerning measuring of reverberation time in closed rooms. Two evaluation methods are described in this thesis; integrated impulse response method and interrupted noise method. Data were recorded with the aid of acoustic module Photon+ and RT Pro 7.1. software. Practical part comprises implementation of evaluation programme in Matlab environment. Computation of reverberation curves is a major output of the thesis. Individual methods are compared on the basis of discovered figures.
Assessment of diffusion coefficient
Mikeš, Petr ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Míča, Ivan (advisor)
Most acoustic measurements and parameters provided by a manufacturer of acoustic elements, which are offering additional solutions to room acoustics as well as acoustic construction works, are mainly limited to the parameters associated with absorption of individual elements. Until now, these diffusional elements have been neglected. Diffusi- onal panels are used to e.g. eliminate direct reflection of sound waves to the listener or reflection of sound waves concentrated at one point. Combination of absorptive acoustic panels and diffusion elements results in a space that is customised to the submitter’s needs.
Civic amenities building
Baroň, Alexandr ; Pilný, Ondřej (referee) ; Berková, Petra (advisor)
The first part of this diploma thesis is to design an energy-efficient hotel with restaurant and car parking. The second part is also to create an assessment of the energy performance of the building and usage of energy from renewable sources. Hotel is designed with the idea of „smart buildings“ which means, that all the technological background is controlled by the main computer, which also harvests data to achieve a minimum energy use and financial demand and maximum comfort and safety at the same time by controlling the connected technology. By placing on a sloped terrain in the center of Brno, the basement floor can be used as car parking. The roof of this building is flat, green, with modifications for placing solar panels, whose design is part of this work. The third part of this diploma thesis is the spatial acoustics of the conference room on the first ground floor.
Design and Realization of Acoustic Treatments of Acouctic Space for Musical Production
Skvaril, Šimon ; Říha, Kamil (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
Subject of this thesis are acoustical properties of space which is used for musical production and reproduction. It covers procedures, which are used for finding out acoustical parameters of chosen space, including virtual modeling and software simulation. Next, there are calculations and design of acoustical elements, which should help to improve quality of music listening. At the end those elements are created and applicated with their functionality verified by measuring acoustical properties
Impact of Environment Acoustics on Speech Recognition Accuracy
Paliesek, Jakub ; Karafiát, Martin (referee) ; Szőke, Igor (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with impact of room acoustics on automatic speech recognition (ASR) accuracy. Experiments were evaluated on speech corpus LibriSpeech and database of impulse responses and noise called ReverbDB. Used ASRs were based on Mini LibriSpeech recipe for Kaldi. First it was examined how well can ASR learn to transcribe in selected environments by using the same acoustic conditions during training and testing. Next, experiments were carried out with modifications of ASR architecture in order to achieve better robustness against new conditions by using methods for adapation to room acoustics - r-vectors and i-vectors. It was shown that recently proposed method of r-vectors is beneficial even when using real impulse responses for data augmentation.
Design and Realization of Acoustic Solution for Listening Room
Burda, Jan ; Balík, Miroslav (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
This work is focused on the problem of room acoustics and its analysis options. It describes the basic criteria of acoustic quality space, commonly used materials and acoustic tiles. It also deals with modeling and acoustic analysis of space using EASE. The third part of thesis is a detailed description of the design of acoustic elements based on resonance principle. The last part deals with the measurement of the reverberation time.
