The Morava River and its influence on the development of the town of Uherské Hradiště

This bachelor's thesis maps the development of the Morava river and the origin and development of the town of Uherské Hradiště. It also deals with the regulation of the river and the development of parts of the city that arose after the regulation. There are also described floods on the Morava river and Olšava and then also the flood of 1997, which hit Uherské Hradiště. Related to this is the subsequent description of flood control measures. The last chapter suggests how the river can be connected with the city today.

The work is conceived on four different levels.The first on eis describesing general characteristics of the selected selection. Second concern calculation of capacity and following river regulativ. Next part contains proposal of vegetation belt. The last part is about drawing of current state and also river regulativ features.

Application of Civil 3D to river regulation

The goal with this bachelor thesis is to review and modify the watercourse of Moravská Dyje river, in the part from 263,69 to 265,13 km. The modification and revision was made in the Autocad CIVIL 3D program, the computitanon part in the HEC-RAS program. First, the current situation was evaluated, then a plan of anti-flooding measure for Q100-years water was designed. Finally, the suitability of the Autocad CIVIL 3D program in connection with making river regulations was evaluated.

Design of river stabilization structures at the Bečva river in OSek

This bachelor thesis is dedicated to the solution of channel recessing in Osek nad Bečvou. One part deals with the evaluation of historical perspective of the area of interest. In the next part of this thesis the transport of sediments is described. The following part contains of an evaluation of current state of the selected part of the river Bečva and deals with a regulation of the river. In the end the theoretical suggestion of protective measure is developed.

Mutual development of the Bratislava, the Danube river and the floodplain forests

The floodplain forest, natural environment of the Danube, is protected area located along the main flow of the river near Bratislava. The question of protection and coexistence of these areas is very important today due to the growth of the city. The regulation of the Danube in the past predetermined the development of the city and set aside territories that are protected. The initiative to restore forgotten branches of Danube is current. The question is, what is the future of this symbiosis of the Danube, floodplain forest and Bratislava, and what are the possibilities of their mutual development? The aim of the research is to contribute to the topic by comparing landscape changes from 1990 to 2018 using CORINE Land Cover (CLC) and to design the possible future direction in research of the Danube and floodplain forests in contact with the southern part of Bratislava.

Water Projects on the Nile in the 19th Century and Their Influence in British-French Relations

Jakub Mazanec Water Projects on the Nile in the 19th Century and Their Influence in British-French Relations At the beginning of the 19th century, the era of building of the first modern hydraulic projects on the Nile in Egypt was launched. During the first half of the 19th century, France had a significat influence on Egypt, which was also reflected in hydraulic projects on the Nile. On the contraty, since the British ocuppation of Egypt in 1882 until the end of the century, the influence of London dominated. The need of water and the construction of major projects shaped the policies of France and Great Britain towards Nile basin. The aim of this thesis is to prove or refute the hypothesis, that hydraulic projects realized on the Nile during the 19th century represented a significant issue of friction between France and Great Britain. And at the same time this thesis tries to prove a change in the perception of water from the side of Egyptian authorities.
