Title: The Last Princess of Luxembourg. The Life Elizabeth of Görlitz in the Period between Years 1390 - 1425. Abstract: The thesis aims to describe the life of the last princess of the House of Luxembourg, Elisabeth of Görlitz. Based on an analysis of narrative and diplomatic material spanning between 1390 - 1425 it describes her life from birth until the moment she ultimately became a widow. Elisabeth of Görlitz (1390 - 1451) was the granddaughter of the emperor Charles the IV. and the Swedish king Albrecht I. During a significant period she used to be the only heir of the House of Luxembourg and therefore since her childhood she was an important woman from the political point of view. She married Anthony Duke of Brabant after several unsuccessful engagements. This marriage led Elizabeth to the Western Europe, where she spent the rest of her life. Thanks to this marriage, Luxembourg became the property of the newly married couple. After few years Anthony died in one of the most famous battles of Hundred Years' War - The battle of Agincourt. Soon after that, Elizabeth got married for the second time. Her second husband was John III the Pitiless, the former Prince-Bishop of Liège, which was during this time most known for his efforts of acquiring Holland and Zeeland. However, John died a few years after the...
Treeline rise as a consuquence of increasing temperature and land-use change
Kolář, Václav ; Treml, Václav (advisor) ; Chuman, Tomáš (referee)
Treeline advance to greater altitude is observed in the majority of European mountains. Many authors have attributed treeline advance to increasing temperatue, others to decrasing anthropogenic influence. The aim of the thesis was to describe dynamics of treeline and influencing factors. Based on newly created database of case studies I asked, whether the treeline agnace is controlled by increasing temperature or by land-use change. My treeline database documented, that treeline advance in Europe ranged from -0,2 to 1,6 m.y-1 . Treeline was advancing most quickly in the Austrian Central Alps, conversely treeline in Ukraine Carpathians revealed retreat. Furthermore, it was found that treeline rise coincides with increasing winter temperatures. While the advance of northern treelines without human impacts is attributed to increasing temperatures and precipitation, remaining areas showed treeline advance in consequence of temperature increase and decreasing anthropogenic influence.
Administrative and economy of the so called Aztec Empire
Dušek, Jakub ; Křížová, Markéta (advisor) ; Binková, Simona (referee)
(in English): This thesis examines and tests the hypothesis whether political entity, in literature traditionally referred to as the "Aztec Empire", was actually an empire equivalent to European states of that age. Based on this hypothesis there are two objectives in this paper. The first one is to answer the question of what principles really stood on this political entity, how the relationships between the core of the empire and other provinces varied and what affected these relationships. The second objective is to examine the economic system of the Aztec empire because that was extensively intertwined with its political actions and influenced them. All three components of the Aztec economy are analyzed, thus supplying the Triple Alliance on its own (intensive agriculture, trade) and extracting tributes from conquered territories. Attention is also paid to the history of "Aztec empire" and its Mesoamerican context. The main sources are edited sources from early colonial times, depicting the situation before the arrival of Europeans and secondary literature, stemming mainly from ethnohistorical research.
The biblical and extra-biblical view on the Exodus
Bíca, Josef ; Melmuk, Petr (advisor) ; Vymětalová Hrabáková, Eva (referee)
It can be said that the whole issue of exodus looks at the thing like this: It is not excluded that such events occurred, when a wave of Hebrews were looking for a better life ( and some of them were streaming from Egypt ). Miraculous signs and symbols, epidemics and wounds, death and the spectacular deliverance- as they are filed in the biblical messages- nothing of the sort happened exactly.
The assesment stability of the cliff
Bíba, Tomáš ; Lossmann, Jaroslav (referee) ; Horák, Vladislav (advisor)
The stability of rock walls and slopes are an integral part of professional geotechnical assessment wherever there is a breach of natural or rock mass. Assessment always depends on the expertise and experience in particular industries that report preparation. Performed mostly analytical calculation (classic or using software) or numerically. The best way is to use both methods and compare them. The aim is always best to estimate the behavior of rock mass and to ensure its safety.

Dream of Great France in Transatlantic Perspective
Paggio, Viktor ; Dubský, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Nechvátal, Martin (referee)
This text focuses on the French self-peception in the modern world. French consider their concept of state and citizenship universal, as Americans do. But the two universalisms are built on a different basis in terms of religion, language and many other aspects. I analyze the clash of the two visions of the world and the French reactions to the American rise to power in the 20th century.
