The New Regionalism and the institutional framework of the regional cooperation in the Western Balkans
Šindelář, Jan ; Králová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Šístek, František (referee)
The presented thesis is analyzing the regional cooperation in the Western Balkans (WB) focusing on interactions of local actors. Theoretical background is based on the new regionalism, a theoretical approach to regional interactions. Contemporary studies on New Regionalism (NR) actually do not consider the Western Balkans to be part of this process and as a result we lack sufficient information about the basic characteristics of this region. The author proves that the WB is engaged in the process of the new regionalism and in fact by focusing on the institutional structure he demonstrates that several parallel processes are ongoing in the region as for example regional cooperation, integration or cooperation with another region. For the purpose of this research two projects of regional cooperation were chosen, South Eastern European Cooperation Process (SEECP) and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) which are regarded as the main pillars of the political cooperation in the WB. By examining their structure we may understand the relevance of the region as an independent actor and the general aims of the regional cooperation.
Prostorová diferenciace podílu uvězněných osob ve světě
ŽELEZNÁ, Tereza
The bachelor thesis deals with the spatial differentiation of the distribution of imprisoned persons in the world at the level of individual states. Based on the statistics taken from the World Prison Brief database, it analyses the number of prisoners in the given countries of the world. The theoretical part of the work is focused on the definition and delineation of basic terms from the field of penology and social pathology, as well as theories that are closely related to prison systems. The analytical part examines the influence of individual groups of economic, social and other factors on the share of imprisoned persons. The quantitative method of evaluating the influence of selected factors is characterized by correlation analysis. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to clearly interpret the spatial differences in the observed phenomenon and to find the main determinants that encourage the occurrence of criminal behaviour and imprisonment itself. The synthetic part focuses on the distribution of the investigated phenomenon in a macro-regional concept in order to generalize and facilitate the determination of the main determinants and specifics of the distribution of the investigated phenomenon.

Time-space structuration of the Prague Metropolitan Area
Zevl, Jiří-Jakub
This diploma thesis focuses upon mobility which structures time and space of Prague's hinterland. The time-space regions are conceptualised and serve to explore the structure of suburban space. The positioning data from mobile phones are used to investigate tangential mobility throughout suburban municipalities. It happened in two time-sections which distinguish the working and the service commute. The method of the time-space regionalisation was introduced for this purpose. In total, 45 local centres were found. Moreover, their regions were delimited and two regions without cores were delimited as well. The resulting time-space regions are distinguished into three types: small inner regions, large outer regions and river regions. The case study in Dolní Břežany municipality seeks causes and consequences of centrality in local scale. The significance of the thesis lies in partial, but highly interconnected contributions in all three dimensions: theory, methodology and empirics. Key words: mobility, suburbanisation, structuration, regionalisation, mobile data, Prague, Dolní Břežany
