Integration of Immigrant and Recognized Refugee Children
PETRŮ, Eva
The subject of my thesis is {\clqq}Integration of Children of Immigrants and of Asylum Seekers``. I have chosen this topic because migration problems have become one of the actual topics in public life in the present Europe and its importance increases because the number of migrants constantly increases. The Czech Republic encountered the problems of fugitives and immigration shortly after the fall of communism in 1989. To this time it had been isolated from the other world for a long time and therefore it may seem it is unprepared for these problems. This can be seen on imperfect integration policy, but also on attitude of public towards the newcomers. Considering the fact that the number of immigrants and fugitives coming to the Czech Republic as a destination country has increased, it is necessary for us to learn to co-live with the foreigners. I have aimed the thesis at problems of integration of immigrants, asylum seekers and their children because I think that the question of integration of foreigners into the Czech society is one of the most important for the trouble free co-existence. I divided the work into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part of the thesis I am researching the development of migration in the world and development of migration in the Czech Republic, history of fugitives in the Czech Republic, problems of underage aliens without close escort, psychosocial situation of immigrants and asylum seekers, their integration, education of children of aliens, multicultural education and social work with immigrants, asylum seekers and their children. In the practical part I used the method of a quantitative research. Goal of this thesis was to uncover the insufficiencies in integration of children of the immigrants and asylum seekers living in the Czech society. Questioning was the method for gathering data for research, data collection technique was the questionnaire. I created three types of the questionnaires. One of them was designated for children of immigrants and asylum seekers attending basic school. I handed out 60 questionnaires, returnability was 86.6%. Second questionnaire was designated for social workers from various organizations engaged in problems of integration of aliens. Here only 6 from the 20 sent out questionnaires returned to me. Returnability was 30%. The third questionnaire was designated for basic school and high school teachers. 25 questionnaires were handed out. Returnability of these questionnaires was 64%. In hypothesis 1 I assumed that there are no special methods designated for integration of children of immigrants and asylum seekers in the Czech Republic. In hypothesis 2 I assumed that the longer is the residence of children of immigrants and asylum seekers in the area of the Czech Republic the less they meet with racism and xenophobia. Both hypotheses were confirmed on the basis of conducted research. Findings from the theoretical and practical part are summarized at the end of the thesis.
Hammer on the officies, role of the non-governmental organizations by the work with refugees (neighbourly chat with children or scouvgeon the governmental officeis)
OCHMANOVÁ, Eliška
Non-governmental organisations assist the refugees with their integration into the new environment, tackle the asylum procedure and related problems. These organisations support refugees who have been granted an asylum to integrate into the everyday life. The concrete forms of assistance are aimed at finding jobs or homes, i.e. the most important steps connected with starting their new life in the Czech Republic. The assistance provided by non-governmental organisations does not consist only of running and maintaining asylums. Another crucial part of their activities consists of getting the public involved in integration schemes and projects aimed at eliminating barriers in the society. It should be remarked that it is especially with integration schemes that non-governmental organisations employ volunteers recruited from the general public. Non-governmental organisations cooperate with other organisations and government institutions on an international scale to provide their activities.
The Czech Republic and the Issue of Refugeeism Compared with Other Types of Immigration After Accession to the European Union
POHLOVÁ, Petra
My thesis is based on description of asylum policy of Czech Republic after year 1989, as well as the fact about influence of entering Czech Republic in EU, according to asylum policy and the number of immigrants. There is a description of immigration after year 1989. There is also a description of the number of immigrants and the common view of these questions. This situation is compared with the situation in similar Belgium. The main purpose of my thesis is to make description in the domain of immigration in both countries and further comparation in the domain of asylum policy, the number of immigrants and their nationality origin. My thesis also includes common asylum and migration policy of EU. According to a fact that immigration to Belgium started earlier and that Belgium is called the "Land of asylum", this country was always very attractive destination with many new opportunities and better standards of life. There was also a big immigration influence to local culture. There is a big difference between Belgium and Czech Republic, because Czech Republic has not had yet open approach to other nationalities. The immigration to Czech Republic started much later and there is no important influence to czech culture. The nationalities of incoming immigrants to both countries are also different.

And the changes brought by the accession of the Czech Republic into the European Union. After that, we will go through the asylum procedure from the foreigners` entry to the territory of our country to official decision regarding the refugee status obtaining. I compare the stay of foreigners in the various refugee centers, especially their rights and obligations and the availability of services. An integration of asylum seekers and recognized refugees is a subject of the further part of the thesis, in which we look at the integration process itself with eyes of different authors and where we highlight the errors occuring during the integration process. It is also a look at the state{\crq}s approach to the integration of refugees, primarily the State Integration Program is concerned. A detailed analysis of one area of the refugees` life is made, which is their approach to an education. A relationship between the Czech society and the refugees is described, based on the perspective of CVVM, Stem and the Czech Statistical Office. Regular studies are being carried out regarding this topic. Finally, we will acquaint with activities of intergovernmental and international organization UNHCR and selected NGOs working in the field of migration.
