Nevládní organizace pomáhají uprchlíkům zvládnout prvotní orientaci v novém prostředí, azylovou proceduru a záležitosti s ní spojené. Uprchlíky, kterým byl udělen azyl, organizace podporují při začleňování do běžného života. Konkrétní pomoc se týká vstupu na trh práce nebo zajišťování bydlení, což jsou nejdůležitější kroky při začátku nového života v České Republice. Pomoc nevládních organizací uprchlíkům se neskládá pouze z práce v uprchlických zařízeních, ale významnou složkou je ovlivňování široké veřejnosti pomocí integračních programů a projektů, které usilují o odstranění bariér ve společnosti. Nutno podotknout, že zejména při integračních projektech využívají nevládní organizace dobrovolníků z řad veřejnosti. Při své činnosti nevládní organizace spolupracují s ostatními organizacemi, s orgány státní správy a také na mezinárodní úrovni. Non-governmental organisations assist the refugees with their integration into the new environment, tackle the asylum procedure and related problems. These organisations support refugees who have been granted an asylum to integrate into the everyday life. The concrete forms of assistance are aimed at finding jobs or homes, i.e. the most important steps connected with starting their new life in the Czech Republic. The assistance provided by non-governmental organisations does not consist only of running and maintaining asylums. Another crucial part of their activities consists of getting the public involved in integration schemes and projects aimed at eliminating barriers in the society. It should be remarked that it is especially with integration schemes that non-governmental organisations employ volunteers recruited from the general public. Non-governmental organisations cooperate with other organisations and government institutions on an international scale to provide their activities.
